  4. The rogues are out again......have seen this car before, sure someone here will know it. http://australia.trovit.com/cars/listing/240z-datsun-fairlady-not-260z-280z-300zx-c210240k.i1b1n1V1Z1I11Y Here is his reply..... Hello, I still have the 1971 Datsun Z Series for sale and I am ready to let it go for AU$ 16.000.The car is in perfect condition, have RWC,exactly as you see in the pictures. No mechanical problems, no leaks, no rust, everything is in very good order. Title is clean and clear, no accidents. I have to sell this car as fast as I can because in two weeks I will be in Afghanistan and I think I'll stay there for a while, that's why I'm selling it so cheap. Currently I'm in a military base, RAAF Tindal, NT, and the car is here with me. I can ship for free anywhere in Australia if you want to buy it. I will appreciate if you let me know your decision as soon as possible, I must sell the car before my deployment. I attached some photos and let me know if you like the car. Best Regards, Lt Steve Rodriguez
  5. If you are still looking....in QLD: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/tallebudgera-valley/wheels-tyres-rims/datsun-260z-mags/1087807437 http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/nambour/wheels-tyres-rims/260z-rims-x5/1087181302
  6. PM for the seat rails
  7. I did zoom in on the photos to check, was awaiting for someone to buy the lot so I could make an offer. Now I see he is splitting it so all good. Thanks Gav
  8. Thanks for input gents. Both cars are 2+2's and running standard factory diff's I think. Mine I know has its original diff as the guy took it out and put in a lower ratio and it was revving too high on the highway. It does use a heap of fuel so I am guessing it is running rich and after a bit of a run it will run one once I switch it off. Also once its hot it is harder to start. Add to that the cam seems as lumpy as hell, shakes the whole car at idle. Likely best to take it to a specialist tuner in Brisbane, anyone know one?
  9. I have the following spec of engine (work done by previous owner): - L28 - P54 Block - N42 head - Reground crank - All new timing gear - Lightened and balance flywheel - Flat top pistons - Electronic ignition - SU carbies - New valves with heavy duty springs - Oversize lash pads (whatever that is?) - 72 degree cam - Head machined true - Extractors - Electric fuel pump Sounds impressive I thought, my son's standard L26 eats it! Plus am told it was fitted with triples and did not perform any better. I am now wondering if there is a basic set up issue with the engine as it was not done by a Datsun specialist. From my searching on the forum I have found (thanks to 600Z): “Another thing you could consider which some people don't seem to do too much with is check your cam timing. Slightly advanced will give you better top end power while slightly retarded will give you better low down torque. This is done by checking the lift of your intake and exhaust valves on the role of the cam.” I was given the below cam sprocket which is adjustable and was think about fitting it I would like some advice: How do I know if this sprocket is suitable? Does anyone have a scale template for the timing chain wedge tool? What is the trick for setting the valve timing (600Z did give a good insight) just wondering if there is a link I missed that has more detail?
  10. Sorry Gav must have missed that post
  11. Link if you have FB: https://www.facebook.com/diyimport/posts/723615491097264 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z432 ... very special car, keep reading... This incredible collectors car was limited to around 420 built in total. Many were used as pursuit vehicles by the Japanese police. Nissan fitted this car with the 160 hp (119 kW) S20 engine, originally designed by the former Prince engineers, from the Skyline GT-R 'Hakosuka' to make a faster Fairlady Z. The 432 designation refers to 4 valves per cylinder, 3 Mikuni carburetors, and 2 camshafts. One of these sold in March 2015 for USD $253,000 which would have been around AUD $490,000 landed in Australia or NZD $450,000 landed in New Zealand. This specific example has been amazingly well restored and has only traveled 2km since it was completed, so it's as close as you will find to a brand new Z432. More photos of the restoration process and completed car are available to serious buyers. We expect this car to cost around AUD $340,000 landed in Australia or NZD $320,000 into New Zealand .. a nice conversation piece for the serious Z car enthusiast.
  12. Factory turbo kit?? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/booragoon/other-parts-accessories/datsun-240z-260z-280zx-factory-turbo-kit/1087797730
  13. Sadly I do not have any to take a photo of and as much as I look around the net I cannot find any photos of my type. I can say the photo that Alan put above are the wrong ones They need a turned down bolt on section on both ends instead of one turned down and the other mounting on the top face of the rail on the floor...clear
  14. A 280Zx is always a good Zed starting point.....looks like a nice example....Gav is correct, get it mechanically right first most other things are just BLING
  15. Too far gone.....260Z 2 seater...Starting bid AU $500.00 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/262016641282
  16. Rusty resto 2 seater in WA http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/banjup/cars-vans-utes/datsun-260z-2-seater/1087333240
  17. I'm in for $25
  18. Where did you park the car? Under a tree somewhere? Which tree? I cannot remember.....doesn't matter http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-Skyline-/141750320527?hash=item2100fa3d8f
  19. Thanks again Alan, would rather keep it all original and wait until I find the correct rails. I still have my RX8 seats in the car....cheers
  20. Perth is definitely the place to pick up good 2+2. Just so far away.
  21. Darn again, thanks Alan but they are the same as the ones I have So still looking if you anyone has some
  22. Thanks Alan, could you just post a photo of them first so I can check they are the same. The early ones (1975) have the rail bent down on both ends (bolt on a sloped section) and the 1976 have the front sloped and the rear flat.
  23. Well I have a nice set of leather covers fitted to a set of seats from a 1976 2+2 and then went to fit them to my 1975 2+2.....darn but they are different. Now am in need of a set rails or even whole seats if they are still attached....in Brisbane would be nice. The ones I have in my photo are the wrong ones
  24. +1 on where you are going with it, the 2 seater 280 is a nice and very collectable car.
