  1. How embarrassing ..... all but one bolt 1/2 undone on tail shaft .... that will cause the vibration every time ..... really need to go over the whole car more often than never....
  2. Lurch, I think you are right on all accounts. Having a vibration when powering off is more a tale shaft or half shaft issue. Cannot see how the diff would cause the vibration? The vibration may have further loosen the bolts and he did swap the diff in and out a couple of times.
  3. Thanks guys, it is a manual. It is a bit slow off the mark but would not want to loose too much top end so likely stick with what I have. Just seems strange why all the housing rear bolts cam loose in the first place? Have had the car for two years and now they come loose?
  4. Well it all started with a bit of a knock back that it always had when I powered off. one day I noticed a few drops of oil where it was parked but then forgot about that. Then my son borrowed the car away for a while to use as a daily drive. He mentioned it made a bit of noise when you powered off and I said it always does that. Then he called up and said it has left a great big puddle of oil under the diff. On inspection two bolts in the rear housing were missing, two were nearly all the way out and all the rest were loose...very strange in deed. There was no oil left so I did up all the bolts and refilled it with oil....as you would Took it for a short drive it seemed OK until I drove it home up the M1. As soon as I powered off it vibrated quite a lot .... so the diff is buggered! Has anyone had anything similar? Seemed strange that the bolts all came loose? Also what is the best diff to put in a 2+2 for general driving, city and country runs.....a standard 2+2 diff I am thinking???
  5. Merry Zmas and happy New Zed Year .....

  13. A good buy, you must have put the deposit on it while I was on my way to look at it....everyone for the future, give a deposit over the phone first...you snooze you loose! (no hard feelings ) Please send me a PM with your email and I will send you the email detailing the car that I sent to the young girl I told I had found her car
  14. Everyone has differing opinions on what they would pay for a Zed. I do not want to talk down this car. There were only minor issues that for most would not bother due to the age, the car was well cared for and in good condition. When you compare it to what I have seen restored on this site and sold for +$20k this car was worth $12k but with the rarity of them at the moment I think someone would pay $15k As far as your search, what is always said on this forum, get one with a good body, the mechanicals are easier and cheaper to fix. If you are worried about older cars, do not worry about the carbies...worry about the body, where the rust is and has been and if there have been any significant body repairs
  15. Good point Jason....likely just a poor connection somewhere, I rushed the fitment.
  16. New starter spins really well and is a great starter but......when I take it for a run and try to restart the starter just "clicks" and will not engage. Hit it 4-5 times and it comes good. The guy I bought it from came back with: I expect you have voltage drop to the starter solenoid activation terminal... Try bridging direct positive power to the starter solenoid activation terminal, I'm sure it will start everytime. It is a common fault, to overcome it You will need to fit & wire up a starter relay. Anyone had similar experiences? Thoughts? Thanks
  17. On inspection it was a solid car but had quiet a few small things that would have reduced its value. Was a good buy for the price
  18. Sold between me calling and getting there....the search continues..... (he was a very nice guy!)
  19. I think it just shows I need to get a life....I know too much information about the movement of Zed's and spend too much time on this site and the net in general
