  2. Side on it looks like the original 240Z, very nice. I have one thanks! Where did these photos come from? Are the just a "artistic impression"?
  3. The jack also comes with its own plastic cover. The origional tool kit in my 74 2+2 I think is in the boot and had: 1 * Jack handle 1 * Wheel brace 1 * Pliers 1 * 10/12mm open ender Mine still had a Nissan parts list which detailed teh above which I think I have lost :'( Will take photo when next I am home
  4. Thanks guys for the feedback
  5. What is the best clutch to put is a stock 260Z? Repco want $187 for a kit, Supercheap $124 (Excedy brand), Nissan $418 +GSt ex Japan! I just want a basic clutch nothing flash
  6. I had the same problem and it was timing. If it is timing it will also pinge under load, therefore timing too far advanced.
  7. Nato Do the 4 cylinder L motor (like the Bluebird) drop straight in? I had a Bluebird and the box was good, I remember it to be better shift than what I have now. Any one know if the CA19 box can be fitted stright to the L26? There was one on eBay that was passed in.
  8. You could try ZBITS, Paul on 0754645056. I had got some parts from him but to do it properly you will need to buy new hoses, drier, TX valve or orifice. I am in Brisbane and you are welcome to have a look at how I put mine together. What year model do you have? As the pre 1976 ones are different than the later models.
  9. Surely one of you Mexicans can have a look at this one at this price? There is a thread with a guy Sydney looking for just such a car.
  10. There is one that is on the Qld Zed web site. Not sure if its still there but still is in for sale section. Looks a cheap for what it looks like! For reluctant sale, 260Z 2+2, 1977. Car in very good condition bar a suspected engine bearing problem. has L28 Block with triple 40mm Mikuni carbs extractors etc. Many spare parts come in the sale price of $7000. Would like to see this go to a club member, being a previous member myself. Please contact me at my email address: sjweldon@westnet.com.au a pic is attached - View Pic
  11. I am in Brisbane if you want me to look at it!
  12. Hi Zgirl Since my son and I both bought our 260's from girls there must be some that do have them...maybe not enough of them come out and about!
  13. I am interested in the box, have sent email.
  14. Will the FJ20DET box fit straight into a std 260Z? What was it out of? Or will it need a tail shaft? Price? Pics? Condition? Thanks
  15. Where is the best place to get the rubbers for the tie rod ends? (I am in Brisbane) Anyone know the part numbers?
  16. Not sure if the later Zeds (mines a 75) are the same, but you will only get hot air to you feet and to demist. No hot air will come out the centre vents above the switches. Only cold air. Hope taht helps
  17. Datsun's have always suffered with earth switching and are typically the root of all problems. However if the problem gets worse with revs it may be that the vibration when you rev the motor may make the connection worse or a wire maybe breaking down inside the insulation If it is only one head light, it should be only the wiring to that side that is the issue. You will need to trace the wires to and from that head light. Maybe time to rewire and use a relay so thet you do not have teh earth switching problem. I have some wiring diagrams to do the mod somewhere if that helps.
  18. It really depends on what type of car you are after. If its a every day driver, you should get one for $6-9k, for a weekend car that you want to cruise in you should look at the +$10k ones. Also depends if you want a stock original or one with a RB conversion, etc. There are some interesting ones on tradingpost.com.au for everyday drivers that have been there for a while. I would not be scared and offer a low price you may get one for quite a bit less than what they are asking. Heaven knows why these classics do not get better money!
  19. I am running the standard unleaded in a completely stock 260Z that has never had the head off it. Have done about 4000k in it without any trouble. I was told the heat build up with ULP only effected cast iron heads so most Jap cars had no issue with running ULP. I will tell you if I do the values :'(
  20. I have mine with Suncorp at $195/year as it is +30 years old. My 74 260 was a classic to them, my sons 76 model was not. His is insured with Shannons at $500/year When i had it off the road and unregistered I could not get it insured at all. No rego numebr no insurance.
  21. Hi, is yours the brown 240 that was on Ebay in Qld a couple of months ago? If that one did not fly through a roadworthy I would be supprised. That car look like it was near new!
  22. I am looking inspiration for mags to upgrade the tyres on my 260. Current standard ones look great but would like to put on some 16" or 17" wheels. Something like below interest me plus my rocket! Maybe if you guys have post some photos of you cars with various that would be great
  23. I have a guy up the road selling on Ebay a heap of 280ZX 1981 parts. The diff is a 3.7 which is the same as what me 260Z 2+2 has. Does anyone know if it will drop straight in? Or are the output shafts different?
  24. I thought the gear mechanism was different on the later boxes. The early Datsun boxes have a bad tendance to get worn and be very sloppy. I thought the later boxes (like the Bluebird ones) had a better mechanism. Was wondering if the 280ZX had the same gear leaver set up. My thing does not like going into fifth.
