  1. I wish! I think they do chrome molly cages if you have that sort of cash but that's well out of my price range It's just a steel cage but the bars they provide are all to the correct diameters and thickness for CAMS approval.
  2. haha, wrong link Hodgo! Try this one The incar footage from Glenney through the Pelverata stage is awesome knowing how difficult that was. A few more actions shots:
  3. Don't sell it when you're so close to being finished. I got my cage from Bond cages in Sydney. You get all the bars already bent for just under $1K. All you need to do then is find somebody that will cut them to size and weld them in for you cheap.
  4. Very nice! Power delivery still looks quite reasonable from the dyno graph too? That is a very nice exhaust job! Work of art.
  5. Nah, hang it on your shed wall and keep a photo of it in your wallet as a reminder just incase you ever go to buy something similar!
  6. Yeah, I was stoked about the Z car mention. It must have taken a bit of work finding all the original tidy cars they've got for it!
  7. Yep, mine just took a lot of brute force to get them out. As Zedman240 said, make sure you use a suitable size drift so you don't damage the thread.
  8. Why did you want the R34 GTR box, strength or because it's a 6 speed? If you're happy to go for a 5 speed then the RB25 box should do the trick fine unless you're going to do crazy things to it. The thing to remember is that in a light car like a Z it's much easier on the gearbox than in a heavier car like an R33/R34.
  9. What size wheels did you get? I've got the 17X9's and there's not a lot there to start with so I'd avoid machining it.
  10. That's a great photo parked next to Mick's car in the bush at the airwalk. And probably one of the last pics of Mick's car while it was still straight, poor bugger That red one was a nice car. Lurch, we were more than happy to be mistaken for the Daytona all weekend. Man that thing has some go!!! I don't know about the photo of the two posers at the finish line Thanks for navagating Bluerat. I'll see if my brother has some action shots to put up next time I visit him.
  11. Yeah, that's true. It costs bugger all to do heaps of laps in a kart, especially in a rotax where you don't need to rebuild them too often. I try to keep testing to a minimum in the car because tyres and brake pads are expensive.
  12. I just bought another bunch of parts through them recently. Once again the products, delivery time, customer service and advice were all spot on.
  13. My car racing budget for the year is less then my kart racing budget was when I quit! But I don't do as many events with the car and I used to do a couple of interstate events each year with the karts which gets expensive when you live in Tas!
  14. Beer: Boags Premium Mixer: Jim Beam & Cola spirits: Any good scotch but I also have a soft spot for Jameson
  15. I've also heard good things about Wolf for the price. Took the car for a run on the weekend with the LSD fitted and a new sprung button clutch and heavy duty pressure plate from Stewart Wilkins Motorsport. All felt good so the car is just about ready for the rally now. Just gotta fit a harness I'm borrowing for the event to keep Bluerat in place
  16. All still sounds a bit out of my price range. The Haltech should do everything I need and is quoted at $1,500.00 on thier website so i think that's the way i'll go. I don't want to pay extra for a heap of functions I never intend on using.
  17. My dad's boss had an Autronic on his sports sedan but switched to Motec because the Autronic was difficult to tune. probably fine if you know an Autronic specialist to tune it. So you're happy with yours sco_aus?
  18. I dunno, I'm still tossing up the idea of taking the bluey wagon. It felt good on the recce runs
  19. I started racing karts when I was 8 yrs old and now race my Z so i think it's just natural progression
  20. I'm still running a standard front bar (16mm I think?). When I bought the car it had the standard front bar and the 23mm rear bar to get it to turn in with the welded diff. it worked ok but when I got the cage put in it really stiffened up the rear of the car and caused massive oversteer on power on. Going back to the 16mm rear fixed this. I'm going to buy a 22 or 23mm front bar to try with both the 16mm and 23mm rear bars and see what it's like.
  21. I found the same thing. Went from a 23mm rear bar to a 16mm and it made the car heaps more drivable.
  22. OK so here's what i've gone with. 1. Stuck with the 240Z driveshafts and we'll see how it goes. there seems to be plenty of travel. 2. My dad bent up and welded a metal strap (about 6mm thick) to the mounting points for the diff cross member that goes over the front of the diff. A couple of bits of radiator hose attached via some skiaflex for the diff to bash against and it should be the trick 3 & 4. Got some new standard mounts coming. The engine mounts are fairly stuffed so hopefully new engine mounts will hold it all in place a bit better so there won't be so much stress on the gearbox mount. Stewart Wilkins motorsport has engine mounts that they said should last forever but they were $550 for the pair which was a bit much for me to fork out for engine mounts. Thanks for all the input guys NZeder, i don't really have time to be modifying things at the moment but i might look into those parts in the future, thanks.
  23. Very nice looking Z, the colour really suits it. Impressive performance figures too without being overly expensive to setup?
  24. haha, how funny were the looks on the tourists faces that let us past on the way in then met us heading straight back out Shortest stay at the airwalk ever!
  25. Thanks for the advice guys. I've pretty much made my mind up on a Haltech E6X. Should do everything I need at a reasonable price. PZG302, I have also been very happy with the F9 but I'm getting to the point now where I need something that controls ignition to take the next step. I haven't got a price on a Motec or Autronic but I've heared they're mega expensive? One of my mates just put an Adaptronic (one of the guys that used to make Autronic set up his own business) on his RB30ET and reckons it's transformed the car. Could be an option. In other news I have my KAAZ R200 LSD that I bought of Vindicare fitted and I'm looking forward to trying it
