  1. Ha Ha Fun of going fast. I think you meant expense of going fast. Good to see the car out and enjoying it.
  2. Some good times there. I think that might be a BP for Gordon as well? And no not in his new Zed. That won't be hitting the road for a year or so. Looks like it dried up to be a nice day. Unfortunately I couldn't make it down for a look in the end. Good to see you driving the car down Sinisha. That is a gutsy effort when you are doing those times. I like the confidence of no stacking or mechanical problems. Ha Let's hope you can make it for Gordon's BBQ 8th Dec with your Zed this year Sinisha.
  3. Dave come along to the BBQ and all will be revealed. ahhh that is with your Zed on a trailer. You know we want to see the WIP.
  4. Gav, We would all love to see you down here. Flights are pretty cheap and someone could pick you up at the airport?
  5. Well I am looking forward to our annual BBQ at Gordon's place in one months time. We haven't had to many meetings this year. Hopefully we can do a few runs in the coming 2014 year. Along with a long weekend away in Feb. We might discuss a destination on the day. Gordon will have his new race Zed up on the hoist for people to check out. Some amazing work to be seen. I have done a few mods with oil coolers etc on my car. Probably not worth a poll for numbers as we seem to get around 25-30 Zeds and 50-60 people. Gordo will supply the usual Plates, sauce, salads, bread, soft drink etc. I am happy to fund this out of our Bank account. Just bring some meat for the BBQ, alcohol and also your ZED. Let's hope the weather is fine again.

  7. Dave another option would be to use the passenger side air hole next to the top corner of the radiator. Then simply don't have air to the passenger side. Those vents are pretty average anyway. I actually blocked mine off last week and welded in a plate to mount my remote oil cooler in the front section along with the oil radiator. For your application you could widen the hole and route the air tube through that. This would get your filter in the front section for some cooler air. Just an idea.
  8. Do it one. Do it properly. Sounds like you are on the road to saving cash in the long run by doing things once Dave. Good point Mike. But I am thinking the built in thermostat is the way to go. Nothing like a shot of cold oil to cool the engine in a hurry. Dave I think you might have to put your car on a trailer and bring it out to Gordon's place for a viewing at the Xmas BBQ. We are all keen to see your handy work.
  9. Hi Dave, I did a bit of home work and will most likely mount my cooler the same way as you. Now I was not aware but the remote alloy oil filter brackets now come with a thermostat to close the oil off from going through the cooler in case your engine gets to cold. I was not aware these were available. Reasonably new thing I think. So I will be putting one of those in as well. Did you do the same? Basically the oil just goes to the remote filter and straight back into the engine if it is running to cold. Obviously it opens up when hot to release the oil into the cooling radiator at a preset temp. Just a thought. Mine is getting done next week.
  10. Hmmm interesting. When I come to do mine I might try to invert the cooler with some sort of easy access to undo one line and drain it. I am pretty fussy about trying to get every last drop of old oil out when I do a change which is every 3-5K.
  11. Gents, I went for a surf down at Point Leo near Flinders yesterday 20/10/13 and saw an orange Zed on CH plates that hade front corner damage stopped on the side of the road. It had a tray truck parked opposite, I presume to toe home. Otherwise I would have stopped. This was on the Frankston/Flinders Road near Point Leo. Does anyone know who's car that is and if so what happenned. Looked a nice Zed. Cheers Craig.
  12. Hi Dave, Those brake and fuel lines look great. I hope you did the fuel lines a descent dia. You know you never know you might need more than standard later on. I like the oil cooler bracke. I have printed a copy just in case I have to copy. Ha Ha I do have one question re the oil cooler. When you change the engine oil. How do you empty out the oil cooler? Does it have a drain plug at the bottom. Or do you have to take the oil cooler out every time to turn it upside down everytime you do an oil change? If that's the case it could be a pain in the butt once all the front is on the car for access etc.
  13. Pulling our legs............cheeky bastard. Good luck tomorrow Mick. Hope the day is hassle free and the new goodies give you a bit more stability.
  14. I hope to make it down for a look.
  15. Dave have you done a mock up with your front sway bar in. You might find your P/S cooler is in the way? Just a thought.
  16. Looks great Dave. You have spent some much time and effort on this car. I hope you enjoy driving it for years to come. Any idea on putting a date to getting it on the road. I am actually putting an oil cooler (Finally) on my car in the next few weeks. So I printed a few of your pics and might steel your mounting design. Ha As for the cooler on the power steering. I am holding off on that for now. I am still amazed by your enthusiasm and dogged determination to finish this. Keep up the good work.
  17. All tested. Took the car for a fang and up over 200klms. Car felt great. All my problems solved. The car is a joy to drive these days.
  18. Refer to the Subject "Gearbox" under V8 Conversion. What I did might fix your problems?
  19. Welcome home Gavin. Look forward to catching up at the Vic BBQ/ Hopefully you can make it down.
  20. You want something done like this Dave. Old shot but you get the picture. You go a single resonator and it won't go up into the tunnel high enough. You will need the clearance. If I can't break the diff brace then I think you should be safe Dave.
  21. Can't remember the brand. Pretty sure Speehut. I got them to light up in red at night. Something a little different to match in the car. Not practicle but hardly drive the car at night so should be OK.
  22. Andrew was pretty well priced for the quality of work. I found his work ethic and attention to detail great. He took the time to explain our strategy to over come the problem, took progressive photo's of the car and itemised his hours by stages as he went. I have the car booked in again in a months time to get some minor upgrades to the exhaust and engine mounts. He is pretty busy though if you wanted some work done.
  23. Morning Gents, Thanks for the advise Daz & Nato I will have to check the front fire wall and a few other areas for cracks when next on a hoist. I am hoping no issues due to the 8 point cage. I don't have quite 600bhp but maybe one day. Ha Well I only drove the car home but managed to give it a few bursts and found the car to feel a lot better. I am pretty sure I have fixed my problem. So for those chasing their tail re vibration like I have for years this is a good area to look at. Especially since my engine was moved back so far. While this gave me prefect weight on all 4 wheels it did leave most of the weight of the engine & gear box hanging on at the tunnel. Anyway happy days and I can now move onto the next project being the oil cooler then my 7 new gauges from the states that I have been sitting on for years. Complete with Tacho with progressive led shift lights and GPS speedo to 300klms. Then I will finally know how fast I am really going when I wind it off the clock back to the zero ha ha. Ah those are the days.
  24. Hi Peter, Well it is a sort of structuralFlex thing combined to do with the tunnel vebrating under heavy load. So everything has now been strangthened and welded in. Everything was in alignment and perfectly balanced. I guess 750nm of torque in the tunnel is to much for the flimsy sheet metal to take. So as per photo's it is locked in. I am picking the car up shortly and will maybe get a test drive in over the weekend. Remember like I said earlier if not under full acceleration I never got any vibration. Just at full throttle at certain speeds.
  25. No I haven't taken it for a drive yet. I may not get the car back till early next week. Then I will have to find a time and place to take it up to 200klms and test it. One other issue we addressed was the rubber in the standard crossmember (Bolt Fastening). It is next to useless for anything other than standard application. Even then I would say it is questionable given the gaps around the rubbers. So we pressed out the standard rubber ones and inserted nolthane bush's. So stay tuned I guess and all things going well I will have fixed my problem.
