  1. hi gav, i also looked into importing a car from the uk some time ago, since then the laws on imports have changed and are now a little bit more relaxed. now you can import over a classic or uncommon car with out getting it complied in australia from memory you still need import approval, papers and all the quarantine etc. as for getting left hand drive cars over here they no longer need to be converted if there a classic or rare. i would be looking at getting hard to find classics imported such as minis, austins, mg's and dattos when possible as there all quite desirable over here. cheers pauly

  6. im also in defence of the 300zx, my brother has owened his for 2 years now and all that has gone wrong is the alternator. it has good power and it realy does feel like my 260z but with a big butt. his 300zx has 260k km on it and still has excellent compression. my next car i belive will be a z32 300zx
  7. the worst thing i have done is left 1 bolt in the bottom of my gbox when i was replacing my clutch, it took 2 hours for me to find where the bolt was turns out it was on the engine side of the gbox .

  11. personaly i wouldnt, you will get use to it like i did. i got my 260z when i was 16 and it had 8.5 inch rims on the front running r14/50/235 it was a bit of a struggle to start with but you get use to it fast. cheers pauly

  14. from my point of view z cars where made for people who can drive and skylines where made as a joke lol. so in my books its all good
  15. if its a v6 you should be able to drive it regardless of the engine size dont quote me on that one, as for the gearbox and diff if it is running a L series box nothing will need to be done. a 260z should have a R200 diff standed like my 260z does so a L26-L28 will just bolt up pending its a L series gbox if i was in melbourn i would be more than happy to help you, it took me about 8 hours by my self to swap a L26 to a L28 and if you run carbs it is quite strait forward regardless of the engine. cheers pauly
  16. if it was a L28 it would be easy peisy practically pull one out and put the other in although i would not bother either engines are good not a huge difference and p plater friendly. if it were a Rb engine or something it would be a tad harder you would need to remove the mounts mod the gearbox and more than likely re wire the car again what type did you have in mind. cheers pauly
  17. it probably wouldn't look too bad but you are right about those exhausts there needs to be something there to split the back up. i would chuck the bumper of first and see how she looks. cheers Pauly
  18. id have to agree with Huw as i also own a 260z 2+2, i actually purchased a newer car for a run about and the thing is I'm now selling it as i drive the zed more than the celica. i have also never had vapor lock or any over heating issues it actually stays quite cool on those hot 45 degree days unlike many new cars i pass on the side of the road with there bonnet up overheated. as for the fumes they can be a little bit of a pain sometimes but i found if you turn the air on weather heating or cooling it stops, i believe it pressurises the cabin. one word of advice i will give you though go to a skid pan and learn to drive the car in the wet cause they get very wild sometimes and I'm running R14X50X245 tires on the rear standard is 185 i think. cheers Pauly
  19. what 620z is true my first car was a 260z 2+2 and i love it to bits but like 620z said you will forever be spending money on it my 260 still looks like crap and its had over 5k spent on it mind you it goes brilliantly. if you are realy interested in a z for a young person like me idd go a 2+2 as there more practicle and handle better they are also a little cheaper just do what i did and find one with as clean as body as you can engine and suspention etc is alot cheaper then body work. if you do buy one it will be like a child to you every time you try to get rid of it you wont be able to. cheers pauly
  20. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo im all alone again i cant blame the other guy now. the funny thing is the guy who you purchased it off his name was also tim. i did see it up for sale and was hopeing someone else from albury would buy it. it has a little bit of rust in it as well not heaps less then many others but a bit more than mine had. i hope you enjoy it as now i will be picked on again by the police here as i have the only one again . can someone please move to albury im all alone again lol :'( cheers pauly
  21. i have tried both mind you the one that was installed on my l26 my spare now on the l28 was a internal regulated unit anyway and i had no issues so its got me stumped dimitri. cheers pauly
  22. hey all since doing a l28 upgrade in my 260z 2+2 my little red light is always on, it charges at only 12v or about 16v to 18v it fluctuates depending on alternators, if you disconnect the battery sometimes it dies other times it doesn't i have also changed my alternator but still does the same thing.. does any on know what may be causing this as it is really bugging me. cheers pauly
  23. yeh im looking into it but unsure of where to aquire a setup and cost of the setup. did you order your mega squirt in parts or a complete unit also what part numbers did you use. cheers pauly
