  1. if you wish to increase the fuel through rev range just do the air flow meter trick the only problem is it will only go so rich other than that up the fuel pressure a tiny bit this will also increase fuel it can be done by a adjustable fuel pressure regulator. cheers pauly
  2. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/afm/index.html heres a link that does help alot, it helps with richening and leaning out of the system. cheers pauly
  3. you will need to bore the block out to 89mm other than that you can use ka24de pistons with no problems, if your wanting low compression though use z24 pistons. cheers pauly
  4. hey all its come to the time where one of the zeds need to go and was wondering if anyone was interested in it. my 280zx is micks old 280 that i had bought a few months back i was going to remove the engine out of her but shes in too good nick to part out for my 260z. since getting the 280zx i have replaced the fuel pump with vl turbo pump (brand new), new airflow meter, new brakes, 2 new tyres and have done a service on the old girl . i was looking for atleast $1500. its currently registered and drives realy well now and had no flaws driving it to sydney and back 1500km trip. i will post pics tommorrow as some paint is coming off and has a little rust in doors. cheers pauly
  5. i had the same problem it turned out that my alternator had been rebuilt and i put an external regulator on long story short when it was rebuilt it had a internal regulator installled, since taking it off i have had no problems. cheers pauly

    My Cam

getting into the cam discussion i have both a camshaft with a A stamped on the back also the one from my 260 has B4 stamped on it i was told the B grind was the better of the cams does anyone know the difference between the factory grinds. cheers Pauly
  7. the 300zx are quite a nice car, my brother owns one and i drive it at least one a week and enjoy it nearly as much as my 260z. if you are serious about them they can be a bit of a money pit like lurch said but if you do your research you should be able to find one it quite good condition at a reasonable price i would go to www.aus300zx.com you can find many hints on finding a good z32 also make sure you search the tech section for ecu diagnostic it tells you exactly if theres anything wrong with the engine and you don't need a PC just a flat head screw driver. hope this has helped cheers Pauly
  8. can you pick me up some turbo parts if you goto the wreckers please , if you do end up going to a yard would you like to pm me as ive been wanting some turbo stuff but cant get it over here. cheers pauly
  9. a little trick i found is to use a old bike tube and put it over the connectors going to the speakers this stops it from shorting out the speaker wire alternative tape it up with sparky tape. cheers pauly
  10. i had the same problem with my install my acc wire was working fine for almost 2 yrs then it decided to just stop putting out current so there is now a new wire rean and i have had no issues at all. a test light will help heaps or a multi meter as for your speakers they will work one of mine had a massive tear and no cone and some how still managed to function the sound was awful but there was sound. cheers pauly
  11. ok here we go, to start off with 1) i would run a new wire from the battery to the cabin, i would recomend running it through the rubber gromit near the battery the easiest way to do this is with a piece of stiff wire or a old wire coat hanger, push the wire through the grommit from inside the cabin then in the engine bay tape the cable to the wire using eletrical tape. the reason why i say run a new wire is that i had nothing but trouble with the 12v constant in my car also thi wire should goto the yellow wire on the new head unit. 2) locate the blue wire from memory it should be your accessory wire if not its the black with red stripe on it, it may also be different between models which ever wire it its it should have no power when they key is off but when you put the key into the acc position it should have roughly 12v. if you cant locate this acc wire you can always run it from your ignition barrel from memory its also the light blue wire, this wire goes to the red wire on the new head unit. 3) get a good earth point i used one of the screws holding down the shift boot this wire goes to the black wire. 4) as for the spakers your on your own with that one it just needs a bit of hit and miss other than that you can take out the speaker and see what colour the wires are it worked for me quite well. 5) if you want to run a sub you can use the new power cable you have run to the head unit bityou will need to extend it to the rear of the car or where your amp is you will also need to supply the amp with a new earth and also a acc wire which can be found in the back of the head unit it will be a thin blue wire. if you run ito any more problems just post or pm me and il will try to help as much as i can. cheers pauly
  12. is it still up for grabs or has some one called dibs as i need and engine and a few other parts due to my timing chain tensioner disintergrating and causing death to my engine i would be happy to travel to Melbourne to pick it up asap. cheers Pauly

  18. i dont know how i missed this but i dont think this is normal it looks like the valves have crowned my pistons im not sure when it happened but it looks that way heres a pic. its not very good but you should be able to see it. cheers pauly
  19. my 77 2+2 had a nudge bar, i still have it as well it also looks very standard but looks pretty ordinary so i removed it. cheers Pauly
  20. the l series and rb series realy arnt that different after all.
  21. thats what i thort it may have a hairline fracture it also did blow my head gasket when it happend the bang that is i was told this afternoon it could be caused by this, does anyone know if it may be valves at all as i did use the valves from the old head as they better condition then the ones in the other head the ones i put on after
  22. hey all, about a month ago i was driving the zed and herd a bang and there was a loss of oil pressure, i got the car home thinking it was a blown head gasket so i rand a compression test and sure enough the 6th cylinder was down 30psi to the other cylinders (150psi) so i went ahead and went to machine my head only to find it had severely twisted i have no idea how. so anyway the old head was pulled out new valve stem seals etc where put on, so then on went a new head gasket permatex etc only to find when i cracked it over it was running like a dog still, yet again i ran a compression test on all cylinders and funny enough the 6th cylinder was still down 30psi. since then i have pulled the engine out and stripped it down thinking it was the rings and guess what there appeared to be no damage to the piston or bore and the rings looked OK, the only other thing i could find is the compression rings where lined up which i have herd can cause it to loose comp. so is it possible for them to move and line up also before this problem occurred the comp was all 150psi and i mean perfectly 150psi, any one got any ideas. cheers Pauly
  23. i had a similar thing happen to me in my 260 2+2, i ended up pulling realy hard on the gear shifter and had somone push on the front of my car it took a bit of shaking back and forth and it finaly came unstuck, i have yet to have it happen again give this a try it might work it might not. cheers pauly
