wow that engine sits low. We have the same mounts by the look (Castle Main Rod Shop) however I did mod mine to take the different isolator (I am using an Energy Suspension isolator with a safety interlock/captive design so my setup mounts the engine about 5 mm higher) but I have a RB25 Block with a RB26 I see if I have a pic that shows this difference. Anyway looking good

Nissan had the following ratios available for the R200 (some are very rare and hard to find these days but this is the complete list as I know it) First is the ratio next is the teeth count on the crown/pinion 3.154 41/13 (special ratio hard to find) 3.364 37/11 3.545 39/11 3.700 37/10 3.900 39/10 4.111 37/9 4.375 35/8 4.625 37/8 4.875 39/9 (special ratio hard to find) 5.143 36/7 (special ratio hard to find) The common ones (ie ones I have and can find here in NZ are) 3.364, 3.545 (from 300zx Z31 mainly), 3.700 (300zx Z31), 3.900 (depends Laural L20ET Auto's are a good source), 4.111 (R30/R31 Skylines) I try to get from the later cars so I get the 12mm not 10mm versions, however if it is the ratio I want I don't care. I have a 3.700 and 3.900 that I might part with in the next few months however shipping to OZ is always going to kill any deal.

It looks so pretty I will have to chase up my guy to see if they have completed my adaptors. I am picking up my headers today after a little mod to clear the chassis rail.

I work for a crop protection company so I have heard the CEO speeches a few times now. This statement was made before all this talk about Ethanol based fuels etc and this demand will only make matter worse. "There is not enough arable land on the earth to feed the growing population, so technologies in crop protection is about increasing the yield in the good land we have." Or something like that. Now if the demand for sugar based crops for ethanol production is more $$ to the farmers then guess what they will do - stop growing food and start growing fuel. I believe this is happening already in South America. Also we have seen the price of our raw materials go up and up in the last 12-24 months so that also does not help the situation. One of the main reasons for the increase in raw materials is believe it or not the Olympics in China. Most the raw tech ingredient's come out of China and with their Government trying to clean the air etc they have forced the closer of number of the plants that supply this raw tech. So the demand for the food/plant based fuel and now limited supply of the tech = increase price for the raw tech = increase in the products we sell = increase in the cost of production of crops for food or fuel = $$$$$ Man who was the bastard that invented $$. Just look at the cost of sugar as a commodity it has increased over the last decade and looks to continue, not only does this drive up the prices of Ethanol based fuel but also the western food we eat (and more and more of the world is moving to this type of diet good or bad) has high sugar and salt concentrations. Ever increase circles and some one is getting very very rich in the process be it the oil barons or the soon to be sugar barons.

Cool - it is excellent that Nissan put the extra hole for the dip stick at the rear too - just remove the metal plug and swap these over - simple (well not so simple with the alternator, intake still on the engine but I got there in the end too. Like you I am now playing the waiting game on the intake. I dropped my headers off to get some mods done - more on this when I get the back. Keep up the good work. Cheers Mike

correct when I owned HS30-00016 now that is early. It had 1970 date stamps on the following items, Seat belts, plug leads (yes it still had the original plug leads, they did not work above 5500rpm but new ones fixed that but I kept the 1970 ones), key number sticker in the glove box and Q & A stamp on the back of the tach and speedo So if number 16 was a 70 car I assume all RHD were from 70 on wards - that is why I think it is funny when those who think Nissan made the first 500 zed in 69 - yes for LHD but not for RHD. A mate own 900 and something and his has 71 date stamps so a 70 RHD 240z is a rare beast indeed. I have more pics of that car after my visit in the weekend. Here is an example if you want to see more PM your email address and I will send you a copy. Each seat has single rip in them about 1" long, the interior is one of the best I have seen and the whole car is almost like new - you could not restore a zed to this condition for the same dollars very good purchasing.

Ok so I went to look at this zed today for a mate who lives out of town. WOW if I did not need the $$ to finish my other zed project and build a garage to put the zed into when I get it home I would consider this car - it is a good a very good purchase.

the 240z I just sold was 1800 ish Who really cares someone will purchase this car and let just hope it goes to a good home and someone who is an active local club member as this car has not been seen the NZ Z Club at a concourse or event for years.

Just a personal thing if I was to have a stock standard zed then the earlier the build the better IMHO. However if you want a 240z and don't have a zed already get whatever you can. I guess because I have owned a few zed now (including 2 x 280zx that you guys were not lucky enough to get, the 2 seater SWB version) I know that I like to change/mod/add performance upgrades etc that if I had a car like this I would want to play with it and that would be a shame so if it must be standard as stated the earlier the better. This car is still a good purchase as you it would be hard to find one in as good as condition (I know of a couple of other that are in the same or better class as this car locally here in NZ). EDIT: if you check the auction it is with 15% of the reserve so I would guess that is around $23000-24000 and given how much I sold my last 240z for (close to that with all the spare parts) it is a good purchase for someone and I am sure it will sell. And that is our NZ peso too so that is cheap for you Oz's

This car used to be owned and was restored by a Nissan Dealer about 10 years ago - only travelled a few 1000 miles since. A good purchase for someone. Zed here are going up and up which is good if you own one, not so good if you are looking to purchase. Given mint RX3 are going for upto $30K this car should be worth every penny he gets. However if it was a 70 car I would consider it but given it is 73. This is a personal opinion if you want a stock 240z have the earliest you can get. So with that said if I wanted that type of thing I would never have sold HS30-00016.

That sounds about right for the sump. Locally Nissan NZ wanted around $600 for sump and pickup. I got mine from the US too. But I got mine via a friend in the US as the guy I got mine from (http://www.nissanpart.cc) would not sell to an international purchaser but his price was the best $149 USD. So I collected when I was in the US on business from my friend so I was lucky it cost me under $200 USD for the sump, pickup and o-ring as shipping was via my suit case.

That price was a buynow and for an almost new unit. They also look like the sell for around ¥25,000-30,000 for ones that have damage around the spline or the rim. But that is still like $300 for a rough unit.

Nice - I installed my sump the other week when I did the test install. I must say the rear sump looks a little small when on the block and sitting in place - if you look at the pic above you can make the sump larger from the first hump/raise to the rear there is that much room. See my earlier pics to see this. I am thinking that when the engine is removed so the engine bay can get painted I will have my nice new sump modified to extend the bowl and add a wing and trap door setup thing. Or I might just modify the standard front sump and sell this one on. Not sure yet. :EDIT: oops did not post the pic I thought I had so here it is.

should have read the post correctly I will see if I can find out an approx price :EDIT: Well the Japanese site that I thought sold them only have a picture of the item for displace/reference purposes so no idea what they go for. :EDIT Again:Well a search of the Japanese auction site found they are going for around ¥75,000 in very good condition which is $750 you will need to have an agent to purchase from the auction so add shipping and fees you are looking over or close to $1000 for a wheel - you really want one that bad. Would be nice to have but not that nice.

hmm now that I see this car I am not 100% sure of my tail choice maybe it is because of the whole rear is the one colour but it does not look as I expected - can someone with photochop skills make the bit around the lights on the blue car above a grey or dark colour like the factor did?

The Sulio mod - I like it lets run with it And I am still learning too And a number of the books on the market are incorrect which does not help and adds to the confusion too.
