  1. http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/20/das-boot-one-mans-crusade-against-injustice/ this is funny, and will be interested to see what happens. i've only read the condensed version ( http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=3060584#post3060584 ) but hopefully i'll be bored at uni tomorrow and have time to read more of the full thread ( http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3880087&page=1 )
  2. http://www.tangcla.com/photos/ These are photos by a guy I went to high school with, I reckon the effect looks awesome most of the time, although some are over done, and would love to get some done of the zed if it moved! lol Is anyone here familiar with the process (soft bagging)? I think its just a long exposure with a torch (and some soft lighting) used to make 'reflections'. I might play around with it and my bro's DSLR sometime...
  3. ben your car looks awesome, although to completely finish carbon treatment flow from front to back i think it needs a carbon fibre hatch, cowl panel, and hood inspection cover things!
  4. hehe agreed! its just an rb30 head, you'll find they are rb30det's to show the fact they are double overhead cam engines, and swapping the heads makes them harder (more expensive) to get through engineers certficates due to emissions my l26 with 240z carbs compared to other cars i've driven has felt the closest in power to a 2.5litre outback (but alot more fun to drive ofcourse). like it has enough torque and power, but could do with more of both
  5. awesome...i'm sure it'd help them play with their bangle lines for upcoming models too, i wonder if thats how they came up with the idea <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  6. offsets are generally measured from the midpoint of the wheel, so the numbers you've stated make more sense as a measure of backspacing, i can't remember the required amount for a zed but an offset of close to 0 is desired depending on the width of course so the offsets on the rims would be +6 on the front and -2ish on the back, so they would fit fine from my understanding of a 280zx (their rims are interchangeable with a 240/260 i think)
  7. my 260z 2 seater gearbox is available for sale if anyone offers me the right amount to inspire me to remove it
  8. i'd love to tag along and see your car on the road, but have my final assignment due on the tuesday, so i wont be able to make it
  9. hey, i have the same orange model, but it currently has some watanabes from the BRE painted model on it and another one which is in the process of being modified to resemble what my car will look like sometime... I got tripped out when i saw your display picture as i currently have the same image for my msn pic! the work rims look so dam sexy what subaru wagan do you have? i just bought a 99 outback limited (i'm not enjoying all the body roll so that might be changed at some point if i start to care enough, but it was the easiest and cheapest way to get the specs i wanted) as a functional daily while my zed is off the road (although mayb i should of gone with a clio sport due to fuel prices, but their build quality seems pretty crap), it goes alright but unfortunately nowhere near as fun as a zed is to drive, although i wonder how a GT-B would compare I know a guy down here with the plates SXY260 (on an early 2 seater), as stock type plates, and he also owns '240 and '280, so since you can obviously double up on numbers in both states, why can't us in melbourne get custom plates that are AA99AA???
  10. how i wish i had money to waste...what a good waste it would be are you able to get cf bumpers? i'm hoping to one day "upgrade" to cf flares and rear spoiler, so if you're still selling these in a couple of years time
  11. Looks good When you go to put on the back flares, make sure you take out the wiring harness on the drivers side so you don't drill through it like i stupidly did! lol, and remember, its alot easier to remount them higher than it is to remount them lower... Also, instead of spaces wouldn't you be able to get new outter rim sections? i think its about $150 each, but since most jap cars seem to run rims of a similar width to what it looks like you already have at the front, you could always just leave the front as it is and just make the rear ones fat
  12. Sulio, have you been reading the melbourne 2030 stuff??? as thats exactly what they are trying to do. I dont completely understand it though, as even people who do not work in the city often drive a fair way to get to work One thing they desperately need to do where I live is build the doncaster rail project. it is completely stupid that this was never done as it was pretty much always planned to happen! that way more people could use the surrounding train lines which are already running at their maximum during peak times, and it would help with the "parking issue" thats at train stations. even though some smart people think all thats needed is more car parks! Apparently taco bill has been affected because of the alternative uses of corn http://knowledge.wpcarey.asu.edu/article.cfm?articleid=1416
  13. www.hybridz.org is where you want to search, the only thing that might need to be taken into account is the different side of the steering column If you haven't seen it already, http://www.vildinimotorsport.com/ make mounts and have one with a nice V mount intercooler setup
  14. and i assume since its a race car your not worried about insurance? as they are probably the only other people who would care about engineers? except for cops, or are they easy on CH plates?
  15. how much did the sump cost you zedman?
  16. yeah, i was thinking the same thing about the rb20 gearbox not hacking it from what i've read, but they rb20 one's still aren't cheap enough to just keep putting more of them into it huh? there was an rb25 one for sale for 1300 around the corner from my a while back i was very tempted to buy, lol he said he'd sell it with the cooler and piping for another $500, which i thought was fair, although i'd prefer to not have the piping go over the top of the motor, which would mean those items were both pointless. and with the wolf for another grand, which seems to b their price on skylines australia (although i'm not sure what version his is), but then if u can't get it past engineers without the stock ecu it would be a pain in the ass are you pretty confident about getting CH plates for a car that isn't engineered ash? i was thinking about getting CH plates for my car when i got it back on the road anyway at the end of the day i miss driving my zed, and with petrol prices the way they are...
  17. i have my stock valence sitting here that has the same mounting faces as the spoiler ofcourse, which you could take for a bit and see how it looks like it will fit up, but u woudln't be allowed to cut into it as its in perfect nic... ur 280zx motor in an s30 would go nicely
  18. Thanks for the link! does anyone in syd wanna go check this out for me? i called the guy this morning and it all seems good, however i can't get up there for 3 weeks or so due to uni deadlines the only things i'm interested to know that i forgot to ask him is what style is the gearbox cross member since it says "bolt in" (ie bolt in after you drill holes?). and if its coming with any of the fuel setup? (i assume this is a no) What modifications would be needed to change it to an rb25 gearbox? a completely different cross memeber? and to clarify things, am i correct that you can not get an engineers certificate with an aftermarket ECU? (he currently has a wolf3d on it, not included in the price) he's selling it coz he's going to a 20B, sure will be an even awesomer beast after that! its a pity this isn't an rb26 as thats what i'm really after, but this is nice and cheap as stated (although intercooler and piping is also not included in price)
  19. I think the fronts are to different to do easy modifications to a 240z spoiler to make it fit though, however there is a nice front spoiler you can get in japan that makes it look like a 240zg (bottom image) i might have my front spoiler off sometime within the next year (lol) if you wanna hold it up against your car, i vote you get some of those wide rota rims and put on ZG flares and no one will look at the front spoiler anymore! or just smooth off the part infront of the bonnet
  20. it sure is confusing! are you saying the 260z dash with 240 lights is normal? or having a 260z dash in a fairlady is? my only knownledge of this come from wangan midnight and the fact its a fairlady and has 260z lights lol. i would of thought that when they changed over to the 260z style dash they would of changed over to the 260z style lights? i'd love to buy some books mayb at the end of the year when i'll have money and the time to read them? hehe this thread needs some higher res photos of this car
  21. it looks as if the guy did a "sulio" - 240z rear lights on a 260z, as has the dash, door panels and side indicators? what brakes would they b on his car? 300zx?
  22. ...when you consider they are 2g rims without rubber its not that bad?!?! it does look nice and clean
  23. they look good! is the outter bit transparent? and which side ended up being decided on for the adhesive? ...now i just needa get my car back on the road to stick it on!
  24. sorry Nzeder, just for clarification, i assume ur using castlemain rodshop engine and gearbox mounts? is this with an rb25 gearbox?
