i got mine second hand, but it was originally bought from the guy in sale the flare and fender mirror look is nice, but soon not having them will be more unique and therefore nicer, lol, in which case it will be time to swap for them some molded in flares or the really wide race zg type

http://www.nulon.com.au/ fill out the survey, but apparently it takes about a month to receive it does anyone use their stuff?
-
i think you'll find if you look closely toecutters old one without vents is different to the one in the top pic. both are nice, but they follow the lines of the car differently and the bottom corner (for lack of a better word) is not rounded on the sort toecutter used to have.

on the barcode sticker on mine it says nissan up the top and names 240/260/280z, along with other cars which i think all had 6 cylinder L series engines (ie 240k, 280c) and the big number which on yours appears to say 5005, says 1005 on the one i've got but hopefully it works! the overall box of yours looks like a newer design judging by the white writing at the very bottom

OEM Side strips Group buy 240z / 260z actual pics page 2

lol, we both know i have plenty of other things i gotta do first! and was actully thinking of a stripe down the drivers side of the bonnet or highlighting the bonnet hump like ba falcons etc. will wait and c... -
hehe, u dont think that a $250 chrome mirror is a good chock for a spanner? just joking anyway...thats what the strut towers are for yeah???
-
they provide a resting place for the odd spanner or two instead of sliding off the fender only the passenger side one sits just outside the body work (not including zg flares) since they are not mounted symmetrically, and they are easy enough to remove, maybe a little two easy if you know what i mean...

i got one off ebay america a couple of years ago, and i think i got the pedal rubbers there too, or maybe i just got them from repco. just type in "240z boot"

OEM Side strips Group buy 240z / 260z actual pics page 2

I would of thought having different styles defeated the purpose of a group buy discount? i've been toying around in photoshop with a few different stripe styles but am yet to really settle on one so will have to hold off for now - and i can't have my car looking to much more like sulio's lol -
there are a few parts i was just going to ignore for a few years. I got the guy who welded up my guards after mounting the flares to do a few other bits and pieces and as far as i'm concerned he could have done a better job, but probably just simply didn't care, so would be good for someone like yourself to be able to do it for the care factor, yet alone the money! when your son has his license and the zed on the road (and mine is back on it too) in a couple of years we'll have to make SYG a bit of a warrigul cruise

Here's some a guy in america took for me when i asked the same question. I find it takes a couple of min to get used to the different position and angle they face as they definately point more behind you so there is no real 'blind spot', however i find it hard to judge the distance of cars behind me in them as no matter what they are relatively small, which leads me to the other point which is you can't use them to look things which have gone past in the other direction... If you get them, make sure you get the proper nissan ones so they look right, and be aware that the black ones have a longer stalk than the chrome ones (which are for some other car from the same period, but were often swapped on by people in japan), you can see why the 240z ones are longer in the pic of the passenger side mirrror where it is nearly being cut off by the windscreen wiper....but then my car didn't come with a passenger side mirror so i dont really use it anyway...

yeah the boss is an adapter thing that bolts onto the shaft then has the screws for the wheel face to mount to. the nardi screw spacing is slightly different to momo etc, but they are all the same sort of idea and you can get adapters from one to the other (which ofcourse make it thicker again) i'm worried the wheel will end up to close to me, but i guess i can always tilt the seat back a bit more and be fully sick bro it wouldn't be hard to mock up where the wheel would sit, but i haven't gotten around to it as i dont have the money to waste on a nice wheel atm...or a reason for it lol
-
i have a nardi boss, they come up for sale every now and again on ebay for around $60ish. my only worry with the boss is how much they then push the mounting face towards the driver, as i was planning on getting a 350mm deep corn one which has a further 80mm offset from the mounting face so has a similar look to the original wheel.

how was the weekend? any pics???

I have one, you dont want to know what I paid for it! My understanding is they were a factory part on some 2+2's, and i got it off a 2+2 at a wrecker so...A person who has been around zeds for 30 years or so asked about its origins and told me it is most likely a copy, however from all the pics i've seen i can't spot a difference. You're right, they wouldn't be to hard to make, i'd be more than happy to measure it up and give you a drawing but i dont have the time atm. although you would probably replicate it out of RHS, where the real ones are a pressed profile by the looks of it. if anyone in melb wants to borrow it and get someone to copy it i dont have a problem with that at all, or i could lay it ontop of the stock grill so you can see how similar in size it is and just get it made from that and a few other photos of how its done?

some new maserati's and lambos might be of inspiration to you. they seem to be getting back into the coloured piping edging, i'm not sure if i'm a fan, this is the best pic i could find and now i've gotten distracted, gotta love the diamond stitching! maybe some red 'double stitching' (whats on the 240z dash below) would look good? as red stitching on steering wheels etc looks nice regarding the dash, just covering it with a sun shade when ur parked should offer enough protection again it getting too damaged, otherwise you never get to enjoy how nice an uncracked dash looks, so wats the point of having it???
-
since you dont seem that set on keeping the car stock, have you thought about getting some seats out of another car? you can get suede rx7 ones for <500, and leather ones for a bit more, or just normal material type ones, and there's alot of other options too from other cars ofcourse
-
i must be sitting on a gold mine then if thats not a typo...i think he should divide that figure by about 10!
-
get an lsd, it makes it much more predictable and controllable the best mistake i had with the single spinner still in was at a T intersection turning right and i ended up doing a 270 and stopping perfectly for going straight along the road. this was at an intersection in the middle of no where where i could see both ways for ages so wasn't putting anyone else in danger, and normally the corner went nicely, but yeah, the back can just suddenly completely loose it - buy an lsd

What you would like your Z to look like?

i dont think your ass would appreciate going from recaro's to factory seats! but i'd be more than happy to swap with you lol, not sure how postage $$$ wise would work out though -
b18c's are late 90's integra motor's, imho, and as previously stated, not really worth putting in (it would probably be cheaper to buy a dc2r anyway, and there's a chance it wont be finished till you're off your p's anyway!) i would of thought you could still drive a 240z with an l28 in it on your p's, but i havn't looked into the new rules. an l28 isn't far off a b18c power wise anyway, and it should have more torque. if you look across at www.hybridz.org there are a few guys there talking about f20c conversions, as they atleast are already set up for a rwd configuration, and from memory i remember reading something about honda motor's spinning the opposite direction, which i believe limits the gearbox options that can be used? my advice would be to get a running car thats close to roadworthy if not already, an LSD, and have some fun with it, or keep saving for something thats already nicely modified. i bought a 260z 2 seater, and for another 3-4g i could of bought one that had an l28 with tripples, a half cage, simmons, recaro's and a bit less rust, but i was in your situation and just wanted to get a zed, and wanted to do stuff myself. i'm not sure if i would say i regret it, but i'm sure the other car would of been the wiser option...specially since in a year you'll most likely spend 2.5g on petrol alone, and another grand just having the car on the road. i have always planned to put an RB into my zed, but over 3 years later i still dont have the cash or time to do it as other things always come up and just general expenses, but i finish my eng degree up this year so it should happen soon! goodluck whatever you decide to do

...wouldn't your carpets be fairly different since its a different model car? and there's not a whole lot of 280zx 2 seaters floating about...
-
The centre consoles are actually the same, the only difference is there is a blanking plate in the 2 seaters one instead of an ash tray at the back. i picked up one for my car that was out of a 2+2 and besides the difference mentioned above they are the same, and its in my 2 seater now without any issues
