  1. I've been thinking about the import rule but not quite sure, I'd probably get something that i could sell for a fair bit when i get back to 'finance' the trip but will have to look it all over. Huw

    2jz in 260z?

To answer your question..... yes it should fit, but it is a bloody big engine.... people have done it before, and had some fun with it.... have a look at www.hybridz.org to get more details, as I know next to nothing about it. Huw
  4. hey that photo was taken in Shanghai wasn't it? didn't see them when i was over in January so must be new...kinda cool tho. Huw
  5. New shop/site with a very cool orange zed, owned by a japanese guy in the states. running 6xmotorcycle mikuni's, thoughts? http://www.datsunspirit.com/ http://www.datsunspirit.com/240z.html Huw
  6. pretty sure they were standard on all 240's....
  7. is it the green one in perth? if so i believe he's quite well to do in the club over there.... maybe I'm being naive but a bank cheque and someone's word (esp. club member) might be ok... but it depends on what you are comfortable with. Even better go over there and drive it back :-) [speeding fine may make it more expensive tho!]
  8. well...if i can get mine registered by then I might bring it, but not good for showing + will be in Japan shortly after (So can't spend any $$$ on getting it 100% :-(....) Is it at the park again? or back on Southbank? Huw
  9. on a side note... someone told me the 2000gt's were unofficially forbidden to leave the country (Japanese gov't won't give customs/shipping approval) don't know whether it is true, but could believe it. Huw

    horn button

hey just wondering if anyone knows where to get a horn button for a 71' 240Z because neither Nissan, Zspares or Zworx seems to have them.....I have the mechanism that goes inside but no cover. Huw
  11. Just got my car back from having the wheels re-aligned and have been told that my front drivers side strut is very slightly bent (seemed true when we put in but only did a visual check)...andyway as a result, even with slightly adjustable toys i can only get neutral/positive camber... have zworx looking for a strut for me, but just in case,I'm wondering if anyone knows a place where you can get struts straightened (can legally straighten only 1 degree)....or where there might be a 240Z front driver side strut (260 ones will not fit) Huw

    Quandry

all right...looks like i have it largely solved.... petrol pump was only slightly disfunctional.... haven't been able to find an air leak (although there may still be one) carby's were out of tune...thus plugs blocked up on back 3 and most importantly....fuel filter and line was obstructed.... anyway, these are all fixed and it seems to be idling nicely...when i drive it down to the shop on monday I'll have a better idea but fingers crossed. 13. yup, that's his name

    backfiring

Well....I'm still stuck My car will not rev all the way up smoothly (bit better after timing)... once i get to around 4k it backfires and some black smoke comes out. Carbies also occassionally backfire gas out of throats when this occurs. have tuned the carbies [although some strange issues still (can do up fully and still run & choke bit stays down when i take choke off) however, they have been kitted. -I've replaced the fuel pump with a brand new one. -Checked and corrected the timing -have spark at all cylinders Now, when I lean it out...the carby backfire increases but the exhaust one does not change....so i REALLY stuck now. Tacho also v. inaccurate, often sounds like revving up smoothly @ engine but exhaust popping..... sorry if this is a very vague description but I v. confused & any help really appreciated as i will be driving it in a week or two. 15. got Rob @ Zworx to organise it.... went to one of his friends who supposably knows Z gearboxes v. well, old chap, don't have his details. I can tell you it working perfectly now tho :-) Huw
  16. think I'm running the Maxima alternator....similar situation, internal regulator, very very simple swap. Huw

    Quandry

anyone? I've removed the fuel pump and having that looked at at the moment...but any other suggestions?

    Quandry

well here we go.... Set out to tune y twin Su's, has been very smoky of late... anyway, balanced with the air/flow meter.... screwed the fuel adjust all the way up and then down a 1/2 turn... began adjusting until seemed right...however.... when i rev to 3.5k+ starts to sputter and fire off a bit of black smoke....(rich?) BUT when i lift EITHER of the pistons in the carby throats the engine dies (lean?) furthermore, after a bit of playing would rev slightly higher but then backfire fuel out of carby (flames once!)....that was when i stopped. Any advice would be great...have been through the haynes manual, my SU manual and any others i had but to no avail. Huw
  19. didn't say it was neat :-) still slightly chaotic there. still pretty messy, but they have cleaned it up a lot, Wozza does own the place but he has been sick. have left my car there numerous times, and all went well.
  20. i've never found them anything but reliable and honest and I have been dealing with them for a substantial period of time now. furthermore, I believe it was rob who was a partner with Lindsay in Zshop initially, but a, unsure. Huw
  21. sikaflex is king if you don't want them to come out again :-)
  22. the number is: 9587 5500 you may not get an answer when you call initially because one of them has been quite sick, so there is only one person regularly in the workshop. but keep trying and you'll eventually get through to them. Huw
  23. I was planning on writing it to the Osaka office in Japanese..... figured I'd get further that way than by using english, especially cause it's a slightly strange/no profit encounter. thoughts?
  24. Well , gearbox back from doctor, had a small 'freshening up' as the problem of no 2,4, R was caused by a self tapper jammed down the selector bit out f sight (where gear shift goes) so I feel very silly but gave everyone at home a good laugh! month delay by a F....... self tapper! lesson learnt tho. Huw
  25. there is someone trying with 2 ka24 (?) heads or something, welding them together.....but think that a dead end. I'm in the process of writing an enquiry to OS-Giken about them. hoping to at least get some info, but uni has slowed down the letter writing. Huw
