  1. but why? I think the point is that you are running of a straight 6 so there is no need for dual pipes, it is mere aesthetics....and possibly a little forced. Especially considering how much work (and compliance issues) that would have to be considered to run them. The main word that springs to mind, is 'why?' A well set up, well tuned zed with headers and either 2.25 or 2.5 inch pipes sounds great and doesn't look overly posed. To me the orange zed you posted looks great except for the pipes and the rear lights....but I may be a purist. (I run 2.5's with a mild L24 and am considering putting better pipes in and moving down to 2.25 (on recommendation).
  2. Kameari in Japan has some beautiful ones.....I have the catalogue and can scan it some time late next week'ish (exams). Now is a good time with the exchange rate but even then you may need to win the lottery. There service is very good too. Huw
  3. That site is a great read.....just wish i could get my hands on one of those heads! took him over 10 years but...
  4. Bit expensive, but very good and part arrived quickly. Catalogue available (but in Japanese) Large number of engine parts, limited number of body, interior stuff. http://www.kameariengineworks.co.jp/
  5. Just after a couple of loose-ends no longer stocked by Nissan. 1) Switches/blanks for the centre console by the hand throttle in a 71 240Z (dont like my chances) 2) black quarter window trim in good nick. Just testing the water at the moment. Huw

    April

Well.....just putting it on the boards.... i back in April from a year in Japan, have managed to get a couple of good zed related books but never found the time to hunt down any of the clubs! (was too busy driving round the country....class? what class?) However, I do have a very nice (if slightly expensive) catalogue from Kameari (engine company well known for work on zeds) and upon my return...time permitting ill try and scan/translate bits of it. 7. Alfadog is on the money there....just finished reading an article in Nostalgic hero by the designer.......they were cut from the design for two reasons: -reducing cost -headlight covers did not conform to the US laws of the time. as a result they were offered as an option in the Japanese market. Anyway, just thought that might be of interest. Huw

    Japan

Well....Nostalgic hero almost made me wet myself yesterday, this month is a special all about the zeds, including a really long article on the designer (not albert goertz!), Z432r etc etc (even one on the fairlady cafe, which i might have to go to) and a whole heap of very nice photos! The weather has been quite nice round here, round 20 degrees or so, with about 1-2 days of rain per week. (nice for an aussie!) 今、福岡市東区(香椎浜が知ってる?)に住んでいる (九大に法学部で勉強している。) 日本語は喋れる (ただまだペラペラではない) Huw
  9. Well, havent stuck anything up in a while, so i thought I'd have a peek back at the site. Anyway, for those who don't know, I'm in Japan for 12 months for study purposes (and other). Apart from the classics I'd forgotten just how funny some of the 'pimped out' bikes and cars are here. See mint condition mini's daily and there is a beautiful orange 240Z that lives somewhere in the neighbourhood but i haven't managed to speak to the owner yet. Anyway, if any Zed news (or other interesting car stuff) pops up, I'll post it up here. Mind you, I wish I'd bloody well brought my zed, would love to take it out of town round here! Huw
  10. Hey. just a quick one, are there any meetings between now and 2/4? just cause I'd like to get to one before i vanish off to Japan for the year :-) Cheers Huw

    Indicator

well....I've got the right indicator working again....but the left is now doing what the right was doing! think I'll just clean all of the connections and put it back together. any more ideas? Huw
  12. yup that was my zed...had just polished and waxed it too... No I don't plan to drive it to uni this year as I won't be here (at Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan) was only there to finalise parts of my thesis/trip plans, but I will be driving it to uni the year after (if i brave enough! if not will ride).... $250 is getting pretty bloody expensive, maybe try signing up for carpool if you have siblings or friends that go to Monash (or just pinch someone's I.D. card!! :-) ) couldn't resist parking next to the 260 :-)

    oils

Hey all Just a quick one, what oil is everyone running in their L-series motor? I used to use 20w-50 but am thinking of running a lighter single weight, opinions? advice? And one final one, are there any oils recommended for when you're not running your zed? as I'm about to go away to Japan for 12 mths and it will only get a run maybe once a month when my father takes it round the block for me. Cheers Huw
  14. hmmm I've got a small problem with my indicators.... my right hand indicator started to go a bit funny over the last week (would have to try a couple of times to get it to work), LHS is fine. my RHS indicator now doesn't work at all, however the relay clicks (albeit slower than usual) and the globe looks ok.... any suggestions? I think I'll rip into it before work today (been a while since I've got to play with the zed.) Huw
  15. glad to hear about the parts in Japan, I'm over that way for 12 months+ in a month and a half!!! :-) wonder what i can get for my zed.......
  16. if you patient, with US companies ask them to ship not air-freight, may make it cheaper (if they'll do it)
  17. http://www.motorsportauto.com/ there online catalogu ok not brilliant, there paper one has everything.
  18. have had 2 experiences with black dragon auto, 1st was reasonably quick... 2nd never arrived despite calling and hassling every week for over a month (was a rubber trim for the rear hatch of a 300 (early one, yeeuukk)). I would not use them again after this and have stuck with motorsport when getting z parts from the states. very good range and quality for 240z stuff. Huw
  19. Wozz is back actually back at Zworx, has been in thailand recuperating for the last couple of weeks but is now back and rolling on.
  20. 21 y.o. male with an minor claim on my insurance history....Shannons happily insured me for 20k comprehensive on my zed for just over 1k...and they actually seemed to like the car and be interested which makes it even better. I'd recommend them without hesitation. Huw
  21. but not much !!!
  22. I know the owner lives round my way....think his name is gareth (not sure tho) very neat car both inside and out.
  23. I was there, think i may have spoken to you about my '71 (blue one) was less people than last year and I was slightly 'under the weather' so didn't stay too long. Huw
  24. cops only book u if u r caught :-)
  25. Assuming i get into honours (will know roughly on Tuesday) I will be studying in Fukuoka (large city at the top of the southernmost island of kyushu).....they even have a zed club there! should keep the withdrawal symptoms on hold :-) Will be bringing it to the concourse, but I won't be entering (still too many loose ends).
