Nah I'm going with 280zx calipers as the handbrake connections is already there however have to pay for custom brackets to get made up. With the R31 calipers you need to make up a custom jobby for the hand brake. So both both set ups need some custom work but I'd rather pay someone to make me some custom brackets to fit the 280 calipers than have to make up hand brake bracket reason being I can buy the brackets but to lazy to make the R31 hand brake bracket and not sure that anyone actually makes them for you. Hey Dave what size are the wheels again? Just be sure to keep correct rolling diameter. Can't remember the stock rolling diameter on the Z's, might have been about 615mm from memory. Anyhow find out what it is and minus the rim height from the rolling diameter and halve that value to give you the tyre wall height you will need. just remember the profile is a percentage of the width, ie a 225 x 50 tyre has a tyre wall height of 112.5mm and 245 x 45 tyre will have a wall height of 110.25mm. So these two tyres would look ok front and back when looking side on ie same rolling diameter to the eye and not too far off the stock height. hmmm...so just typing as I ponder possible staggered tyre combos!? 15" wheels (15x7 rear & 15x8 rear), 15 inch wheel has a height of 381mm. So 615mm - 381mm = 234mm (divide by 2 for tyre wall height) gives you 117mm. So with a 15 rim you want to try and keep tyre wall height about 117mm. As above 225 x 50 gives you 112.5mm for front and 245 x 45 gives you 110.25mm for rear. I reckon this should work. Run it by your tyre man as I think I've got it about right. hmmm...and if they are 16 16" wheels (16x7 rear & 16x8 rear), 16 inch wheel has a height of 406.4mm. So 615mm - 406.4mm = 208.6mm (divide by 2 for tyre wall height) gives you 104.3mm. So with a 16 rim you want to try and keep tyre wall height about 104.3mm. So 225 x 45 gives you 101.25mm for front and 245 x 40 gives you 98mm for rear. I would think that is also pretty close to stock diameter. Sulio

From memory I was using 205x65 on the front with 225x55 on the rear on my 15x7 superlites years ago. The rolling diameter on the side wall is kept the same front and back and the 225 gives it that little bit more meat on the back. SUlio Let me find the pic... EDIT found em

Yer it looks like about the same shape only it's the original Nissan pressed piece from metal not alloy. I used to have a series of pics of the calipers, brackets and rotors on the old viczcar forums. If somebody is inetersted please advise and I'll get some pics. Sulio

I run KYB's with heavy duty lowered King Springs. OK for the street but I hope to install coil overs with adjustable shocks. Andrew sounds like a cool plan, all the best with it. Sulio

Hi Guys, I have a complete R31 rear disc set up that is a common set up for rear disc conversions on S30's. It includes the calipers, brackets that bolt the calipers to the strutts and rotors (used). Yer couple of new Z's however power shortage in the area was an issue seeing we had a gas lamp running, with Gas BBQ and lap top on battery for entertainnment playing bthe 1hr 10 min version of the Tassie Trip. Low light so no pics. Actually ecellent turn out seeing we had extreme storm conditions up until about 7pm. I don't think Melbourne has seen weather that severe for a couple of years or so. So yer really good turn out taking that into consideration! Sulio

Flow figures!? My guess is your just jiving, this is the info I'm starting with and hoping to build on by trial and error as I go. I'll keep updating this spreadsheet as I go with more reading, advice and trial and error...and with all that hopefully it does'nt wear down my patients before getting them running to a reasonable level. Once the motor is rebuilt I will have no qualms about getting them proffessionally tuned but I don't want to do that twice so I'll just have a crack at it my self for the time being. Cheers, Sulio

I thought it might help some others regarding a basic set up stage. Please note I am only using this info to get to a starting point as far as set up goes.
