Are these things growing in your backyard?

I've seen this car before. So you're the new owner?

    73 240Z project No.3

Is this the same car as the other photo with the damage?

Oh man, did you purchase her like this or did this happen to you? Hope she's salvagable. Looks like it was a 240z too
  5. From what I've seen on the market I agree with Alan. To be even more frank the Australian market is 1 of the cheapest places to purchase an S30 series vehicle. The US being the cheapest. I've also heard many stories of people buying cars from Japan that are not up to scratch when they arrive. Photos as stated can be very deceiving, if you were to buy a car from Japan, I'd recommend inspecting the car yourself, especially if you are considering parting with that kind of cash. My advice is to be patient and wait for the right car to come onto the market. There are some nice Z's around, but they will be more expensive. I'm a true believer in paying a bit extra for the right car than trying to save a couple of thousand on an average 1. You might also want to consider looking at cars in NZ.
  6. Hey everyone, Some cool videos of the safari rally featuring the works 240z's 1971 Safari Rally Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYXNURtZddY 1971 Safari Rally Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9vKIwYMQb0 1972 Safari Rally Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHiFen_8N90 1972 Safari Rally Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQXiUe64maQ Pretty cool stuff.
  7. Same here, I think you can tell by the front Grille the RA23 is slightly different in that area. I personally like the TA22 style most.
  8. GRS Sport just refers to the 2+2 chassis code. GRS30 = 260z 2+2
  9. Guys I'm very interested in this thread. I would be more than happy to place an article on the site about all of this. RE: R380A perhaps Alan T knows something about it.
  10. It would be great to feature the car on our site, I can put a link from the article to the competition to get more people involved. That way people who just browse our site might be motivated to go vote and we get to have that car and its story on our homepage. I think Sulio (aka Toecutter) was going to ask the owner, but seems you have contact with him and might be able to oragnise it? Of course we would be happy to feature the Zwolf too!
  11. I like it with the original hubcaps. Reminds me of the model cars you buy.
  12. I just voted and unsubscribed from their mailing list at the same time .
  13. If only it were that easy, I have been considering adding an online store to Auszcar.com will probably give it more serious thought in future. Yeah not to mention LD28 cranks are a gold mine and probably easy to find in a junk yard. There only 20kg so you can get at least 5. Have fun over there anyway. Still haven't been to the states yet myself.
  14. Rev should have titled the thread. Rev in US taking spare part orders now lol. I should move to the US I think then I can source parts for Auszcar.com
  15. Getting harder now but I've seen a few floating around on Ebay from time to time. You also require a special driveshaft that is unique for this box. Lurch is about right on price and you can't guarantee it will be in good condition although you could get lucky.
  16. Broken Yoke or Uni Joint? Looks like the Universal joint broke. This I must say is very unusual, I've never heard of this happening before. I'd be concerned if the mechanics didn't notice anything strange, especially if you have the driveline tested and a roadworthy done not long ago.
  17. If it makes you feel better I ride to work here in Dublin on my push bike. Its great when the weather is good and its cheap / free and a good way to get exercise. In Dublin helmets are optional and it can get a bit hairy with the double decker bus' but overall its good fun. Spare a thought for when it rains in Dublin (often) and I still ride to work. Ughhh Winter is coming over here now too! . But you will save a heap of cash and be thankful that the Z isn't being abused as a daily driver.
  18. I must say I'm very sad to hear this news. Warren was 1 of the first guys to show up at our first meeting in 2004 in his Silver 240z. Always friendly and enthusiastic. Here are some shots of his Z at the first ever meet. http://www.viczcar.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=8 Here is a picture of Warren when he went to Japan. http://www.viczcar.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=10078&pos=5 I think that would be a great idea.
  19. Looks like the time Sulio snapped me tucking into chicken and chips. http://www.viczcar.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=11&pos=17 Although I was a few years younger then. Keen eyes will also spot Mr Fabulous in the background.
  20. Definitely the difference between a refresh and a proper restoration. The body on this will look immaculate when its painted. Can't wait to see what colour you picked. Keep us in suspense though till you have it painted . Makes for good television that way. Any news on the engine rebuild?
  21. Go for it Sulio, I need all the help I can get recruiting featured Zeds lol.
  22. Hey Rev, You must be cool hand luke you were quick on the draw for that. Thanks for the donation mate really appreciate it.
  23. Tell me about it, I should charge $3 a pop to advertise in classifieds.
  24. I think the best thing to do is imagine what you would love to do if education, money and other things were not in the way. For me I'd love to get a commercial pilots license and do that for a career, have been saving for a while now so I might just go and do the training some day. I've even considered selling the Z to be able to do that as a career, but I love my Z too much. I guess my point is, go for the job that you would love to do and don't let others tell you its too late or its unreasonable if you really want something you will find a way to get there. I hated IT for a while back there, then I landed a job at Google and I must say I really enjoy working at Google right now and I really enjoy what I do. I could find higher paying jobs, but as Aegean said I wake up in the morning and look forward to coming in and seeing my work colleagues (I can actually call them friends). I still get a case of the Monday's at times, but its not the "fear" I used to get on a Sunday night.
  25. Yes there is now .
