Hi Everyone, I want to announce that Lurch has decided to step down as a site moderator at Auszcar. Lurch has been doing the role for several years now and being a mod is often a thank-less job. I want to take this opportunity to thank Lurch for all the work he has done over the last few years which includes: [*]Moderating discussions on a daily basis - it's not easy keeping up everything that happens on the site (believe me I know) [*]Flagging spam and removing spam posts - You'll notice we don't get lots on the site and when we do it's gone quickly. This keeps the sites content quality high (which everyone benefits from) [*]Identifying posts that are suitable as sticky and benefit the community as a whole [*]Helping rally up the troops and organise events and technical workshop days [*]and much much more.... Often being a moderator means you have to take a hard line when users start to get into heated debate and flame wars. You'll never please everyone in such situations and it can be a tough role. I believe Lurch hasn't decided to leave the community rather step back from a leadership role for now. So with all that said, thank you once again Lurch. PS: At the moment I haven't looked at Lurch's successor . This is definitely something I will consider and I've already had a recommendation but will follow up on that shortly. If there are any questions, hopefully that's something Lurch can address for you?

Guys I have to make an announcement which I'll do in another thread. I've just been busy with work - I am in South Africa for 3 months and have a dodgy internet connection (out of the office) so it's made it hard to access the site.

They look really nice, my concern with any kind of 'knock off' or copy of the original is in terms of quality. What company is manufacturing these and what kind of quality are they made to? A quick search for Atara racing reveals nothing - no website and no details in the manufacturing process. https://www.google.com/search?q=Atara+racing Could Watanabe wheel caps be used with these? Any plans to make other colors available? Would really like to see them with black center and polished outer edge.

Welcome, that's certainly a unique 280zx not seen 1 like that before. The flat black paint is great.

Mooa42 Intro and another Z project

Awesome I'd love to know where this 260z ended up, hope she's still doing the rounds somewhere and making someone happy. The photo of your wife made me laugh. I'm sure she can't wait to drive the 240z again, until she actually drives it and remembers all those fumes haha. -
Pictures of Mean Mr Mustard here: http://www.viczcar.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=88&page=1 http://www.viczcar.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=88&pos=5 http://www.viczcar.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=random&cat=10474&pos=-3330 http://www.viczcar.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=88&pos=2 http://www.viczcar.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=88&pos=3 I don't see any external splash guards though, I was under the impression we were talking about a form of wheel arch liner.

As always mate top work, a very original looking 260z which is good, has the original rear view mirror and wheels! With you doing the work I'm sure it will be back in tip top condition in no time.
-
Hey mate, I tend to not let it sit idle but drive calmly until warm with choke out. If the car doesn't run right cold with choke out, perhaps the carbs are not in good tune? In my opinion it's better to let the car warm up quickly than slowly.
-
+1 think it's very rare they are still fitted to a 240z, would love to see them.

Well look who's happy with himself now? Now go out and just enjoy it.

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/datsun-240z-1970-13334635 Looks like a high quality restoration but it won't be everyone's cuppa tea, certainly not mine anyway. -
My new soon to be daily mini project RX7
gav240z replied to Fairlady Z's topic in Off Topic Discussions
I wish I had your metal work skills, seriously I envy what you and some of the guys on this site can pull off. You certainly don't pick easy projects do you? I always pick something in as good condition as possible and work from there. You on the other hand seem to pick something that resembles a basket case. I guess that's the challenge you enjoy right? Don't worry about rotary's they are not that bad. They get a bad wrap but look at the state this car was in and you got it running with a fresh set of plugs. I'm gonna try that Septone Ripper stuff in my FD's engine bay to clean up all the grease and grime that accumulates under there. Just not sure if I can get it in Europe. Love the red on red colour combo by the way, looks great. -

Fantastic mate and the wheels you put on are perfect, I almost wouldn't change a thing. The spot lights are actually ok, bit of a period mod although probably just as nice without it if they won't work well. I really like the car mate, the more I look at it in that blue. Give it a machine polish the paint might brighten up a bit. -

You have learnt well then, because that's often exactly how it is. Unless it's a well documented restoration you could be getting yourself into a world of hurt. -
Anything under a minute is apparently very serious.

I think it's the same as MX-5 seats in terms of fitting so if you can find more info on MX-5 seats that might help?
