  1. Owen - can't wait to hear your feedback on the car after you get it back.
  2. Chop top 2+2 ? Yes.......
  3. So Cracker, what have we learnt? I noticed you sold a tidy 240z not that long ago here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6803.0.html So you have decided that the 240z is professional looking enough after all? That is a great 240z you got yourself there.
  4. Personal Imports Scheme allows 1 car every 5 years and has strict rules around owning it for at least 12 months (so that rules out putting it in the missus name). I did consider this also for a Honda S2000 a while back but I think importing 1 car will be painful enough to be honest and it will cost about 5-6K it looks like, so cheaper to get an MX-5 in Australia.
  5. +1 agree, be surprised if it's not sold now.
  6. Agree with the above re: MX-5, I'm going to get 1 for my g/f and I'll try and find a really cheap 1 at that. Fix her up myself and then hand the keys to the missus, I'll of course take it out for a drive also since I always wanted 1. I also agree regarding the first gen RX-7 buy 1 now if you want to get a car with a good return like the 240z (not an investment but a car that won't loose value either!). You also have to keep in mind numbers sold globally don't always reflect local market prices, I can get an MG or a Mini over here (Ireland) at a very good price - say 2-3k - in fact I should start importing them to Australia haha. Also the Volvo P1800 can be obtained for not too much coin. Anyway I'm going off topic, I think my problem with the 86 is the shape, it's all sorts wrong and it reminds me of a Hyundai which is the ultimate reason I wouldn't buy it. http://img.netcarshow.com/Hyundai-Tiburon_Coupe_2007_1600x1200_wallpaper_09.jpg
  7. I know it seems glamorous to drive a classic on a daily basis, but I actually wouldn't recommend it. You can still drive it often, but it's nice to have a car like the S15 with air-con and power steering and windows etc.. A classic can be a bit monotonous and draining on a daily basis. Much better reserved for a weekend toy IMHO. Anyway see how you go, but maybe consider keeping the S15 is all I'm saying. Or get some modern small hatch back cheap.
  8. Jeeez Louise - best thing to do is copy the design and make a fresh set of those clothes and then just stick em' on that style of deck chair = profit!
  9. What a lovely example, but I hope you don't plan on driving it like Fred Flintstone, what kind of power plant will you be using? Here is a gift from Australia to you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMVir-A2z7c
  10. Thanks Benny, forgot about that 1.
  11. I've had some good suggestions via email on areas to check out, what is the best website for looking at rental properties? I was using www.realestate.com.au but not sure if there are others out there? Ideally my g/f and I are looking for a small house with say 2 bedrooms, (1 room for guests to stay) and a medium sized backyard (she wants to get a dog) and ideally an under-cover area / garage for working on the car and keeping it out of the weather. I plan to take transport to work (so train) and or bicycle - I ride to work everyday in Dublin and love it (apart from the rain, but Sydney should be better in this regard). So 15-20 min train ride from the city centre is ok. Depending on how long I end up staying in Sydney - who knows the 240z may end up in NSW? I've already braced myself for rental prices, but I plan to budget by eating less meals out and making other budget changes to suit. My biggest expenses outside of rent, tend to be my hobbies - cars and from the sounds of it pet food haha .
  12. Stress free sounds like a good idea. Is the train system that bad? I remember in Melbourne being packed like a sardine into the Connex trains and they were always late! Funny how it all ran better under the public system.
  13. For the Datsun enthusiast who has everything. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321136556043 Pretty cool little Cabinet.
  14. Looks really great mate, well done, can't wait to get my car to this standard someday.
  15. LOL - so did you ask her "is that a no then?". Silver and Red is such a rare combo to see in a Z nowadays.
  16. Yeah I thought electric motor torque would have helped but the old 2.4ltr straight 6 still has a good pick up.
  17. You know since you listed the car I was thinking of making an offer on it sight unseen. It really does look like a great example. I didn't think it would last at that price. Congrats to both you and the new owner.
  18. Interesting race, I was surprised with the outcome!
  19. I love this factory colour though. It's simply awesome. I like the Blue on Blue colour combo also, rocks the casbah!
  20. I just love this 1. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=9245.0;attach=36129;image Great colour.
  21. Oh c'mon we want more photos than that!
  22. A shame to see you selling mate, but this is honestly the best kind of car to start with for anyone looking to restore. It would be a walk in the park and all complete compared to a rusty bucket missing everything. I just hope the new owner doesn't do the typical ZG flares(nothing wrong with it), would be nice to keep it stock and original in my opinion.
  23. Nothing like giving it a go yourself and coming up with a solution, you'll feel better for giving it a go.
  24. What colour was she from the factory out of curiosity? I always like the idea of going back to the factory colour, but perhaps in a nicer 2-pac? That blue G-nose Z also really makes me want to convert my car to the ZG look.
  25. A rough around the edges car, just the way we like em'. Will be watching for updates also .
