  1. I want to paint the bonnet on my red 72 240z flat black, as I'm thinking of giving it a Rally inspired look .
  2. There is a pair on Yahoo! Auctions I'm watching today, but wanted to see if there was any local. If I can get a pair I'll bring them to my tafe course and see how hard they are to replicate - maybe out of stainless steel? PS: I've seen a couple of bargains on Yahoo! Auctions, I've seen them go for as low as $200 a pair.. with covers etc.. So it can be done!
  3. Hi Mark, Any plans yet to make covers + chrome trim rings for the short nose S30z?
  4. Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone has the OEM Chrome trim rings that go around the headlights of the S30z? I'm specifically looking for a pair of Chrome Trim's, I'm guessing someone probably has a pair that had the covers crack and then removed the covers and rings because they couldn't find replacement covers? If so let me know if you have a pair and what you might want for them? C'mon they have probably been in storage for years
  5. Oh my.... these are the kind of skills being lost right now. What artistry, I can't imagine what it's like to build something like that from the ground up. Maybe I should move to NZ... pretty incredible.
  6. I'm interested in the POR-15 process, I am thinking I'll tackle the slam panel for the rear hatch on my 240z first. Want to make sure I use a good rust proof paint underneath before spot welding it into place.
  7. I don't think the North American market received either... That's the problem with this kind of video though is it centers around a specific market. I understand it's not possible to cover every model, but on a global scale I think there is many cars that were missed out on. I've never been fond on the Mitsubishi GTO, for me it's a bit of a fail whale. However it could turn out to be a big collector car, especially as a convertible? Only time will tell what the market lusts for.
  8. LOL watch this...comedy gold.. Phil Lee: How to import a car At ~1:20 Sounds too good to be true. At what point in the import process does Nobu-San give them a haircut? Is it before you put it on the boat or when it arrives in Sydney? Ok I'm done, I'll go do something useful like work on my car.
  9. I wasn't going to post this, but I sent it to another member and then I thought I'm sure others could relate. Something about doing what you love.
  10. I wasn't expecting it, but toward the end they discussed the 240z (~26 mins in). Unfortunately a lot of Porsche "waffle" in between that really doesn't interest me. You can see the market trend analytics tool here: http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/market-trends Interesting because graph shows a plateau for them. http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vbe=37089 However keep in mind this is the US market where they have LOTS of S30z's. Elsewhere in the world prices have changed already...
  11. So better or worse than you thought? .. At least that's as bad as it will get...
  12. PS30-SB fuel gauge (100L vs standard 60L). http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d160469242 A little pricey, yes it's rare, but couldn't you just paint 100L on a standard early gauge and recalibrate it? More info on Alan's 432-R replica page. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/236658-1969-nissan-s20-twin-cam-engine-rebuild-7.html Specific post: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/2519777-post95.html I like the metric oil pressure gauge though!
  13. Here it is... http://motor.geocities.jp/atakausa/ExteriorInterior.html
  14. See previous page mate, there is a few attachments showing that R32 . Yeah it's not this sites responsibility (or mine) to expose them all, but Edward Lee's is advertising S30z's and other home market classic Nissan's etc.. if people genuinely want to find a nice S30z I think it would be a shame if I didn't warn people in the community about what I know. Otherwise some poor 'wood duck' is gonna show up here and introduce themselves with 1 of his cars . At least this way people who should be doing research before buying such cars can come here and judge for themselves. I'm more than happy to suggest other companies people can use to source such vehicles. If anyone is motivated there is also this link. Perhaps this "Jealous W$kAr" could be persuaded to spend 15 mins doing it? haha. https://www.ato.gov.au/Forms/Tax-evasion-reporting-form/
  15. Ahh sorry, 114.3 is the S30z right? I always forget.
  16. No surprise I've seen him driving it around Drummoyne area, looks like his personal mode of transport.
  17. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,15505.0.html For sale thread of the red Z now asking 60k +
  18. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/grudge-match/ Good write up on both.
  19. Don't worry Phil you don't have to respond to my rhetorical questions below... This fish jumps onto the hook for you. I've split this thread into a whole new topic just for you. I quite liked Grubby Lee's but I think Edward Scissorhands Lee has a better ring to it. If it's not wound back the other thing to watch for is previous accident damage. Here is an example showing how a car can still make it's way into the country even after serious damage. http://www.japanesehistorycheck.com/portfolio-item/nissan-skyline-gt-r-v-spec-2-accident-repair/ For some reason I think this video belongs here. Coincidence ? *hint hint* (Listen for 1:03) "What they call a Type A Spirit R". Ahhh no Phil it's what they call a Type B, the Type A had the OEM Recaro seats on tilt rails. This has the stock S8 seats in leather trim. Seems a good time to repeat the wisdom of Alan (HS30-H) on this 1. Seems Phil's specialty is knowing jack... about the cars he imports.... It's even funnier when you consider he wrote this... Funny that, he can tell you so much about a car and "research it for you". Yet a simple history check for correct mileage is all too hard? Why would that be? Phil why did you say the above RX-7 was a Type A when it was clearly a Type B? I thought you knew a great deal about these cars. You've imported many RX-7's now, surely you know a bit about them? Or were you talking the car up into something it wasn't? Funny you like to give out advice, but you don't seem to be able to follow it yourself. I believe you've dangled the carrot of a car on offer a few times in front of the audience here, would you agree? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13450.0.html I'm surprised you didn't try to claim it was a "432-R" version optioned up with luxuries like a clock, heater and interior accessories etc..?
  20. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/adelaide-region/wheels-tyres-rims/performance-challengers-15x8-9/1071062214 Performance challengers, not sure if they would fit a stock Z?
  21. Thanks for the vindication mate, I think you meant "you're a jealous wanker".... since we've reverted to name calling, what kind of charlatan* tries to rip off a family with a disabled child? From JOC Facebook page. All your special cars return 404 pages mate? http://www.edwardlees.com.au/stock/2005-nissan-elgrand-xl-3593.htm But don't worry I saved the ad for you. *To save you the effort. I won't be advising anyone deal with you, even if your S30z's are legitimately good cars I'd advise people to avoid your shonky business. What I think really scares you is the lack of 'wood ducks' walking into your business, even with all those balloons, sale and low mileage stickers, people are able to look past it and see you for what you really are. But don't worry I'm sure you've got a career in hairdressing ahead of you, after all you're good at haircuts aren't you?
  22. LOL @ Inhouse critic, but she/he(?) has a point... Anyway I'd forgo the body kit idea for now, even go with the rat look to start with a flat black paint job etc.., have a bit of fun. Once it's nicely painted you'll have to be very careful working on it. So do all the other stuff first and the paint job last. Stick to a budget that won't offend the other half and you should be ok. PS: This widebody 2 seater looks great. https://oakmandesigns.wordpress.com/2013/11/05/abc-190mm-nissandatsun-280zx/
  23. Ok can we leave the school boy talk to the school yard and school boys? Let's try and get back on topic. Mr Pounder, perhaps consider a username change to something a little more family friendly? Although we don't have any specific code against it, it's more of a guideline.
  24. I saw 1 recently on Yahoo! Auctions for about ~$120...I've got fragments of a 5 speed button you could glue together and still got this 4 speed knob? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/240z-S30z-1600-510-Datsun-Gear-Knob-4-speed-button-/261772805175 If you want to make an offer on it let me know?
  25. So received the mirrors today (both left hand side) and they look basically the same apart from the mirror shape itself (the circular 1). My question is has anyone ever removed the glass part from the stalk without damaging the glass? Looking at the photos of the mystery mirror I bought a while ago, I believe it could be the same stalk angle as the fender mirror I've got, but for the right hand side, lucky! http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14248.msg156522.html#msg156522 But it's missing the fender assembly spring etc.. That's ok because out of all these mirrors I think I can make a matching pair. Just want to see if I can remove the mirror without cracking the glass.
