  1. I capitulated and bought a set too! Sick of rounding out screws.
  2. What's going on with your gear box? Or what work are you getting done?
  3. E31 Cylinder head for sale. ($600 USD) http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55485-rebuilt-e31-race-head/ I spent much more than this on my own E31 rebuild. So it's a good deal.

Excellent, time to bomb George's inbox with requests for measurements! . Since he has an OEM glass to take measurements from.
  6. Understood, perhaps when I'm down at the workshop I can take a look in person and I'm sure it will make more sense.
  7. Just going to update this thread with current interest. 1. 240z Jeco clock with Quartz movement - Lurch (core return) 2. 74 260z Jeck Clock with Quartz movement - Royal44 (core return) 3. Brabham - late Kanto Seiki clock (77/78) 260z w/original movement - Brabham I just wanted to update the thread to show who has shown interest in each respective clock, I don't have final prices yet because I've sent Ron a bunch of parts and we are going to work out costs etc.. Since a couple will involve a core return that means I may be able to supply another in future.
  8. I was at the fuel station the other week with my 72 240z and a fella comes up to me and says I used to have a 260z etc.. Anyway usual story from there. Tells me he has a manual for it still if I want it? I asked if it was a factory service manual but he wasn't sure. Anyway gave me his phone number and sent me this image later. Are these worth getting? Anything good in them that isn't available in other manuals? Pretty sure he just wanted postage for it. If anyone is interested I can pass on his number of get it sent to me and then post it out to you.
  9. For the uninitiated what is the benefit of the billet selector fork on 4th/5th?
  10. Pretty sure for the manual you need to cut out more of the trans tunnel hole. As seen here in the Wheeler Dealers special. Watch here.
  11. Just as an FYI I'd really love to find evidence of an AU delivered car that was Blue/Blue (exterior/interior) combo. Up until recently I didn't think a 907 Green with butterscotch interior existed. So was excited to see it did! Can anyone find me the blue/blue combo. Probably my personal favorite.
  12. Here is another car, this time 1973 model. Victorian Registration: LMJ-974 (as an FYI my 72 240z was LCU-540). A couple of interesting observations, the "BRE style spook" at the front was on it in 73. I always assumed this was a North American appendage but it seems we had it from the beginning also. The radio is a Hitachi TM-1081ZB(S) radio, further supporting the idea that we only got that radio in our early S30Z's (240z's). 73 Gearbox ratios are listed as: 73 model gear set. 1st 2.906:1 2nd 1.907:1 3rd 1.308:1 4th 1.000:1 5th 0.864:1 Diff: 3.90:1 You can access larger photos here: https://goo.gl/photos/yGt15kkjKMxXx6Sb8 If anyone has more press reviews of 240z's in Australia please feel free to share here, they make for excellent reference material.
  13. Another couple of early 240z's used in press releases. The first is a 907 Green 240z with early style fender mirrors and NSW registration: BQD-327, it looks like it has a vinyl roof and butterscotch interior. I've never seen an AU market car with 907 Green exterior and the butterscotch exterior. I guess they were all changed? What is interesting though is that the cover car is different to the car featured in the inside pages. The car on the inside pages is Victorian registration: KSE-731. Since the image is greyscale I don't know what colour the car is, but given it's a dark colour it could have also been 907 Green. The text in the embedded images may be hard to read, so you can access and zoom on the images here. https://goo.gl/photos/yGt15kkjKMxXx6Sb8 Gearbox ratios: 70 model gear set. 1st 2.957:1 2nd 1.858:1 3rd 1.311:1 4th 1.000:1 5th 0.852:1 Diff: 3.90:1 @Lurch - Just want to highlight it mentions the tyres are: Dunlop SP Sport radials (Aquajets) - we discussed this at his BBQ in Victoria a couple of weeks back . Does anyone know if either of the cars above still exist? Both appear to be early 70 models.
  14. The plate in the engine bay is the Australian compliance plate and I believe is 1 of the few tell tale signs a car was auto. However keep in mind that not all 240z's had a compliance plate fitted. It doesn't seem to be something we see consistently on all cars until around 1974. Of course the transmission tunnel was also a little different on the auto's and the pedal box (the accelerator pedeal is a bit different) also may also be a give away for those looking at strict originality. Numbers matching is an interesting topic in and of itself. I started a topic on it a while ago. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14549-how-original-is-original-is-original-really-original-must-go-deeper/ and another older discussion on the same topic. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/9632-240z-value-with-l26-or-matching-number-l24/ Don't worry I understand where you're coming from, but that's why I ask these questions. So we all know what you're after.
  15. Anyone know what the part no. might be?
  16. So what's so special about them? *Edit bit of a Google and they appear to be a bolt on, so I assume good for power steering in F100 trucks?
  17. Perhaps when joining a new forum you could attempt to post in the correct section? The wanted ads section is much more appropriate than general discussions. Although I'll admit it's a vague category. I almost didn't approve your first post as a result.
  18. Either of these appeal? http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-240Z-1973/SSE-AD-3806334/?Cr=0 http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-240Z-1972/SSE-AD-4035177/?Cr=1 The Green car seems like a perfect fit for you, it needs interior work but mechanically seems ok and the body looks ok from the photos. The SC car could be returned to a road car. This doesn't have the original engine, but could be a neat car. When you say original engine do you mean numbers matching or L-series engine? http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-260Z-1974/SSE-AD-3437344/?Cr=2
  19. Bobby, I would have thought a good place to start was with Issac he's pretty resourceful at finding S30Z's. But I guess asking here can't hurt either. Good luck, but most of the stuff I come across these days is in need of serious bodywork.
  20. http://petrolicious.com/rx-genesis-the-amazing-cosmos-pioneered-mazda-rotaries In Melbourne out toward Rowville along North Road and close to maybe Sprinvale rd, Mazda has a new headquarters. *Edit here it is. http://www.mazda.com.au/about-mazda/news/latest-news/new-national-headquarters-sets-mazda-australia-up-for-the-future/ In the window is a metallic green series 1 RX-7 (FB) and next to it is a Mazda Cosmo coupe. It would be worth a visit to see both cars as they look mint. *Edit again, found photos of the cars here: http://www.caradvice.com.au/434671/mazda-australias-swanky-new-headquarters-with-collection-of-classics-opens/
  21. Gentle reminder, would be good to see it!
  22. Is that car in Australia or Italy? It looks like the same car as the 1 Curtis posted here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13773-early-girl-bingo-with-photos/?p=174544
  23. Right now there is nothing you can do, if it's seized it needs a rebuild. There is no 'cheap fix'.
  24. Pray the rust gods are good to you. It's all pretty straight forward just don't rush to rip stuff out. Especially if removing the interior vinyl as it can tear easily. Be very gentle.
