  1. This car showed up this morning I think...Gone already. 1976 Datsun 260Z Manual Asking price was: $30,000 http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/_/SSE-AD-4061904 I'll see if I can dig up the additional photos, from memory it was a clean example. *edit having trouble finding the other pics. Original URL would have been. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-260Z-1976/SSE-AD-4061904/?Cr=2
  2. Correction that is the worst part you can currently see.. ? There will be more. If that was ALL the rust you had you would be very lucky indeed.
  3. 907 Green is the best! . I'm guessing this is HS30 00575
  4. Last week was a bit of a fizzer, I had intended to weld on the lower portion of the hatch but my teacher said I really needed to test fit to the car before making the final touches... I was a bit annoyed since I really wanted to get this thing done and dusted, but no sense rushing it last minute and ending up with it not working out. So tonight I removed the old hatch and test fitted the new hatch. Using vice grips to hold it in place. Gaps look consistent most of the way around. Minor adjustments required at each edge where it meets the 1/4 panel. Left side passenger side needs about 3-4mm adjustment. Should be able to whack this with a hammer in a bit and fix it. Right side needs 2mm. Lighting is bad in the garage at night, this gap will improve once it's folded over, right now it can't sit flush because of the lip sitting half folded. Gaps are good on this side also. I had to scribe the lower lip (where the tail light side is). Multiple white markers so when it's off the car I can line them up before welding it back together. Lower lip isn't folded yet, which is why it looks so wide, once folded it should line up with 1/4 panel lines. The part where it looks a little high here is simply because the lip won't allow it to sit lower until it's folded over the frame. Otherwise fitment wise it's looking good. There are some shims that go behind the hinges for extra adjustment. I've left them off for the most part here. However I will experiment better with this once I've finished welded it together and see if there is any further adjustments required.
  5. Sadly my bulb housings are smashed on my car I think. I am curious if your loom works first . Keep us updated.
  6. The first part 24012-E4100 is the part no. G 69 11. I dunno could it be July 1969?
  7. That seems to align with what I've crossed referenced on engine numbers with US market manufactured cars. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to crack the stampings on the Jeco clocks. Refer here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13397-for-sale-working-240z-clocks/
  8. Nice does he need the old loom to produce a new 1 or can he build them from scratch now?
  9. Definitely not the easiest panel on a 240z to do, like I say it's deceptively difficult to make given the curvature of it. I saw how much work was involved in replicating the door on an old hot rod at my tafe course which had similar changes in curvature and I thought, geez I'm glad I have a turret to replace mine with. Makes life A LOT easier. But I do have to do a couple of minor repairs to it etc.. So making a new panel from new steel is also not such a bad thing. I guess Tony didn't even consider patching the hole? Probably too much chance of distortion and more work than recreating the whole roof on some levels I'd imagine.
  10. Nice find a nice butt! Haha. So anybody know the owner? Must be a Z nut... It looks more like an Early AU market car than Fairlady though. The 1/4 panel badges are '240z' and the bumper overriders are an AU market attribute for the most part. Clear indicators and no indicators in the front guards.
  11. Did your Taiwanese ones have any markings on them near the windscreen cowl to indicate they were copies? I saw a pair which has a stamping near the top to indicate they were Taiwanese made, but I thought they were quite good. I'm guessing a few versions exist.
  12. Looks good, who is helping you make the roof? It is a deceptively difficult shape to reproduce.
  13. 2 or 2+2 seater... 2 seater is going to be harder than 2+2.
  14. Not without modifications, much easier to source a 260z dashboard.
  15. So you bought the Zshop special ? #420.
  16. I tried to look up the registration but no luck. It looks like it has Fairlady Z badges down the side of it too. Someone recently advertised on Gumtree a wtb ad for a 240z and used these images. Pretty sure it is the same car. Licence plate looks green and white in these photos.
  17. I posted it, but it doesn't mean I like it.
  18. Looks like the French School kids think it's an Italian car.
  19. http://www.ebay.com/itm/272254176108 US $1,195.00
  20. Rough as guts, I can't talk however I was gonna rat mine out...

  22. I'm no expert but that looks like a Z31 rear cut? If anyone more familiar with later Z's can verify I'll change the thread title.
  23. It is an awesome beard, and the colour actually looks ok too! Even though I can't stand brown, I could live with that. Shame no drive video.
