  1. Jeff did your block get over-bored? Or just stroked to 3.0ltr? I know that some blocks may not take much of an overbore so your matching numbers engine may not always be suitable for bigger displacement.

  3. Yeah I wasn't sure, never tried it. So thanks for clarifying.
  4. I think all 70/71's sold in Oz pretty much had the hand throttle / choke combo. This is a factory console. If you want to sell me the Ashtray I won't complain. .
  5. Peter actually I think the PCD on my FD RX-7 wheels is 114.3 but it's a 5 stud wheel. You might be able to get away with only 4 lug nuts on it? They are quite wide, not sure they will fit nicely under S30 guards but your GTO conversion might be wider?
  6. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/pimpama/wheels-tyres-rims/4x114-3-16x7-wheels-set-of-4/1124516908 $150 on the Gold Coast.
  7. Peter I was on Gumtree last night and just typed in 114.3 into the search box. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-114.3/k0?fromSearchBox=true Not sure if it matters if they are 4 or 5 stud? I saw a few 16" rims that were relatively cheap. If I had a set to lend to you, I would. Sorry.
  8. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/56154-1971-240z-for-sale-fresh-restoration/?page=1 This car looks like an honest example.
  9. Looks like an RB swap patient.

  12. Wait for the end... ouch.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_M5lLWPwjY Notice the 2 seater and 2+2 substitution!
  13. Here is an Ex-Edward Lee's import... http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/ryde/cars-vans-utes/1974-datsun-240z-nissan-fairlady-z-s30-coupe-wangan-midnight-/1124329304 Price: $65,000
  14. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-14/ SOLD ON 9/8/16 FOR $27,750 Not bad for a 73 with flat tops.
  15. I had 1, gave it to Locky because I just couldn't make up my mind as to weather or not I liked it and wanted to drill holes in the lower valance section to install it. Len Brennan used to make them. He's in his 80s now and retired. http://www.len-brennan.com.au/ZProducts.html- no longer works so try links below. http://web.archive.org/web/20091015031533/http://www.len-brennan.com.au/ZProducts.html http://web.archive.org/web/20091015032648/http://www.len-brennan.com.au/Spoiler.html Not sure if he still has the moulds for it, may have sold them off to Alfa Fiberglass or similar.
  16. Messy and a pain in the arse... I found these guys recently. http://www.theblastfactory.com.au/ http://www.theblastfactory.com.au/garnet-blasting/ I find using strip discs takes a very long time... RetroZ suggested using paint stripper and then a gerni or high pressure washer to blast off the paint. I haven't tried it yet but could be a good solution.
  17. No same colour different car. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1924-cars-for-sale-3rd-party-sites-ebay-carsales-etc/?p=182986 The other car had the rear lip spoiler and black (go fast) sills.
  18. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/burwood/cars-vans-utes/datsun-240z-1971-coupe/1124113041 Another car from Lindsay at Zshop. Asking: $59,900.00 HS30 01865 Engine # L24 073531 Complied 12/71 Has 71A gearbox but obviously the later console! Interesting...
  19. That 240z has been on the same registration quite a while, Vicroads does not have the chassis ID, only engine number. Which is what they used to use back in the 80s to ID a car on their register. So long history with the same owner. You can tell anyway by the fact it's a bit tired, but honest looking. It's being sold and presented by Lindsay from Zshop.
  20. Finally the right car comes along. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-Celica-1979-LT2000-Coupe/172338112294
  21. They look like S30z seats to me, certainly not 180B seats.
  22. Not wrong on that, I would have made a balls of it, if not for my teacher helping correct a few mistakes. Getting the very sharp edge is tricky. All part of the fun of learning I guess. I kind of like the mystery about it, the old school art and techniques. I really think it's under-appreciated by most. There's modern panel beating and then there's "old school panel beating".
  23. More repair work last night at Tafe, bit of a tricky piece to make, has a curve in multiple directions and getting the sharp bonnet edge requires quite a bit of finesse. No Tafe again until October 4th...sadly also it might not run in the not too distant future. Found a potential alternative but costs will be higher than Tafe. http://motorretro.com.au/
  24. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1974-datsun-260z-2-2/262619584045 GRS30-000976 AU $5,800.00 [ 7 bids ] - 6 days to go. Early 2+2.
  25. FWIW I sold my LD28 crank because I figured if I ever wanted to go a stroker motor I'd pay more and go with the option Lurch described. LD28 = old school hot rodding.
