Price or history of this HS30?
gav240z replied to nuk1ear's topic in Introductions and Forum Etiquette
I would agree with this. As for non-original motor, it does impact values but to be frank it doesn't determine how enjoyable the car is to drive and an L28 is a popular swap. The biggest factor is rust, although I have a feeling in future a lot more aftermarket panels are going to become available, making more cars feasible for restoration at a lower cost. https://www.webstagram.pro/profile/kfvintagejdm http://www.kfvintagejdm.com/ -

Driveshaft looks like the early flange style, perhaps modified to accept a uni joint for a later box swap? -

I think it goes without saying that on any S30Z, check everywhere for RUST! I quite like the white S30Z on eBay right now, I think it's pretty honest. Looks very straight (no major front or rear end hit as far as I can tell *from photos) and still has it's original radio etc.. so likely been left alone most of it's life. Just tired and in need of some rust repair work. -
I would like to know the original L24 number if you have it. Since I record the VIN and Engine no's when available. Also compliance dates are useful for the data I collect as it gives some indication as to build date. The L26 may have come with the auto box attached. Hence it may not have been an original auto car. It's unlikely someone swapped in a tan interior. So that's likely original along with the 907 Green paint. Thanks, also worth keeping an eye on Google Reviews. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=heartbeat+cars+au&oq=heartbeat+cars+au&aqs=chrome..69i57.2240j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#lrd=0x6b12bac98766c5d1:0x786222df61f69c78,1,,, Sort by "Worst Rating"...I know not everyone leaves fair reviews, but it seems some things remain a constant theme for Parramatta Rd dealers. -
Tan interior and an "auto?" with hand throttle.. interesting. My 71 is auto but had the hand throttle blanked off. 907 Green and Tan Interior, don't think I have officially recorded another AU market car in that combination yet! https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/keysborough/cars-vans-utes/datsun-240z/1195784852

Note: Heart Beat Cars also trades under the name. HIMAWARI VEHICLE IMPORTS PTY LTD https://www.gumtree.com.au/business/himawari-vehicle-imports It was registered last year: 30-06-2017 However there is already a process in action to deregister the business. Refer to Government sites here: ABR http://www.abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View?abn=95620159293 ASIC https://connectonline.asic.gov.au/RegistrySearch/faces/landing/panelSearch.jspx?searchText=620159293&searchType=OrgAndBusNm&_adf.ctrl-state=11wx9pkado_40 HIMAWARI VEHICLE IMPORTS PTY LTD ACN 620 159 293 ABN 95 620 159 293 When I do a Google Search for "HIMAWARI VEHICLE IMPORTS PTY LTD" I see old mates business listing. They may not be directly related, but it has got me thinking.. Q> Anyone know how to get the owner name based on an ABN? It looks like ASIC wants to charge for that information? -

I'm in the middle of a TM-1081ZB(S) Radio restoration. This particular radio was packaged badly and upon arrival had been bashed in (on 1 corner). Part of the circuit board had been snapped. More photos here. https://photos.app.goo.gl/AvuUP6gMXZW9qMKL7 Radio seems to work fine, despite it's rough transit. I am going to re-plate the housings, might repaint the black parts and the signal seek needle (orange) and I'll try and glue down the missing bit of the circuit board and rejoin the break with solder or similar (bridge it). I'm hammering and dolly the chassis back into shape as best as I can (straighten it out). Might try repair the chipped corner on the faceplate (see how well it holds up). Last part will be the pig tail wiring harness / fuse holder etc.. I decided to try restore this 1 since it was already damaged and if I ruined it, I wouldn't have to hate myself.

What he said, vinyl paint is 1 of the easiest to apply going around and it will cover a lot of those blemishes easily. Along with the glove box door. That dashboard looks to be in beautiful shape, has it already been re-skinned? Just make sure you use plenty of oil and wax removal on a cloth all over the dashboard (hopefully nobody went liberal with armour oil or similar on it) and then tape up the areas you don't want to get over-spray on and go for it. For the lid you can use a heat gun to revive the plastics (remove that faded look) but be really really careful not to over heat it. In fact I would probably practice on a spare if you have 1. Here is some photos (not the best) of when I restored my FD RX-7's rear storage bin divider panel. https://photos.app.goo.gl/f7PT6ZWH4BK86GDP9 There was quite a few scuff marks on it and some light fading, I used the heat gun to help improve it, but the final photo is after black vinyl paint. I'm not sure why it has that fish eye mark on the plastic (it wasn't the heat gun) but once installed in the car you can hardly see any marks on it. Photos (with flash) tend to highlight the flaws more so than the naked eye can see it. I would have shown you when you came around the other day if I knew about the dashboard before that. You can remove the "DATSUN 240Z" emblem from the lid (it's glued in) and can get the plastic chrome re-done on the inlay if you really want to give it pop like new! If you decide you still want to go down the re-skin path let me know? I may be interested in that dash for my 71 240z - since I want the patina look!

Got photos of the blemishes? You might be able to cover them up with a bit of black vinyl spray?

1. It will be difficult to get an exact width given that it's not a flat piece of metal, but has curved sides. I can measure the width of the metal on the folded side part. Which I assume is the same all around. 2. Yes you could say that 1 side is higher than the other, because it's shaped to follow the contour of the headlight bucket. I later re-test fit the cover against the headlight bucket and noticed you have to push the trim to the high side of the bucket so it sits back snugly against the housing. Hard to explain, but if you saw photos of them fitted it would make more sense. 3. I'll have to measure those. 4. Yes they are probably made out of a single strip of metal and then joined along the side as you saw. 5. No I don't, but have been recommended to use nutserts. Instead of the factory mounting brackets which require 3 holes at each fixture point. 6. I left it at my mum's place last time. She's in South Melbourne, however she may have taken them into storage at Kinglake (house in the country). I originally was going to drop them down to @Léon as I want to fit them on my red car, but didn't get to catch up with him last time I was in Melbourne. Give me some time to get the measurements you need. Personally I have been buying the rings when I can find them and plan to re-chrome them and get perspex covers made. I think I could recreate them by hand, but it would be fairly time consuming to do. I'm waiting to see how Romas and Hung go with their reproductions (linked to above).

I took some measurements today, hard to get a solid datum point given they don't really have any square points to start from. https://photos.app.goo.gl/kwW38s2GK4LQMMyc9 The thickness around the outside measured between 18-19mm but generally in the 18.60-18.80 range. The edge has a bevel which is not at 90 degrees, it has a slope which I hope the photos show. I believe they are made of mild steel and chromed over the top, which is why you can see evidence of rust. I took a photo of where there is a join. As this gives some idea as to how they are made. When offering them up to the headlight bucket there is quite large gaps. I am not sure if this is my headlight bucket (trim ring) or what.. I will try another ring on the passenger side to try and find out. I put the tape measure around the outer edge of the ring, all the way around got 106cm in total. Hope the photo kind of made that clear (I couldn't photo graph and hold it in 1 go). I tried to measure the height of the ring but it depends on the angle you hold it at etc..got about 16cm tall. I honestly think I could make this by hand, but it would be time consuming. Let me know if you need anything else. I don't have my set with the lens covers with me (they are in Melbourne now). Hence part of the delay in getting these details to you.
