zzzzed Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 As i am starting fresh with this car i figured it needs a new thred. I previously owned this car a couple of years ago but circumstances made me hand it over to my father. he now has decided he needs the space in his shed so he has handed it back to me I plan on keeping this one mostly stock, however I may fit some nicer rims, but mostly all i will be doing is maintaining and fixing the few things that need fixing. the wiring is up to shit and needs replacing so i may be on the lookout for a second hand loom or i may just make a new one. there are a few spots of rust starting to surface but nothing i cant handle. but for thge time being i will just be enjoying the fact i have an s30 i can actualy drive Quote
Roberto Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 The only thing better than a zed, is 2 zeds. I guess your dad will get a really good fathers day gift this year. Quote
zzzzed Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 yep i bought him a awesome detailed model of an rt charger and a set of bullet mirrors for his oldsmobile. One thing i cant work out is this car has standard springs but my 240z with brand new king spring lows sits more than an inch higher than this car.. Not happy. I hope they settle down after i have driven it for a while. Quote
lightmaster240z Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Hay mick what years is your fathers Oldsmobile? My father in law has just got the family's original 37 back. Two owner including him. Quote
zzzzed Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 his oldsmobil is mid to late 60,s its the size of a small country and runs the big block i think 460cui rocket motor. Nice car but it would take up to much room in my shed Quote
Gordo Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Hi Nick, that a nice example of a 260z, reminds me of my first z. Same color combo. Looks in very good condition . Quote
zzzzed Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Thanx man. The photos do lie a little bit. It is starting to show its age in some places. That is another reason why my dad gave it to me. He is getting to old to do these things now and knew I would bring it back to new. One of the first things I am going to do is recover the Seats. The cloth inserts are Sam Ugly. Quote
zzzzed Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 So who thinks the spotlights need to go? Quote
Roberto Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 So who thinks the spotlights need to go? I think they aren't too bad, but if you want to keep original I would lose them one day. Are you going to keep the front spoiler as is or replace it or remove it? Quote
zzzzed Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 yeh i will be keeping the spoiler. I am almost liking it more than the spoiler on my 240z as it is more subtle. I fit up the shakotans that were ment for my 1200 coupe I think they ,ight stay on the zed as they are a perfect fit. I needs higher profile tires though. I soon found out that race tires are crap on the road Quote
Agno Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 take off the spotties and that looks pretty much exactly like my car. same lip, headlight protectors and everything! i wish i had the space for 2 zeds Quote
zzzzed Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 take off the spotties and that looks pretty much exactly like my car. same lip, headlight protectors and everything! i wish i had the space for 2 zeds Arr maybe that's what it is that I like about your car hehe Quote
Agno Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 lol. mine even used to be light blue like yours! Quote
zzzzed Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 I like the color alot. I was going to paint my 240z blue before I decided to go the original color. I'm quite happy with my Datsun collection. I only need one more to compleat it a fairlady roadster. that's I the missus dosnt shoot me hehe Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 2, 2012 Administrators Posted September 2, 2012 Fantastic mate and the wheels you put on are perfect, I almost wouldn't change a thing. The spot lights are actually ok, bit of a period mod although probably just as nice without it if they won't work well. I really like the car mate, the more I look at it in that blue. Give it a machine polish the paint might brighten up a bit. Quote
Fairlady Z Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Hey Mick good to see the old girl is back in your hands again. yeah love the colour combo on this. The new wheels are awesome ill keep them on it. prob different profile tires like you said. as for fogies lose them and get the smaller chrome round ones and replace them. Remember the ones I had on mine. your workshops looks like mine. Full of Z's and stuff everywhere But what a scene ay. we not complaining. Quote
zzzzed Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 Yeh different spottys might look better I would just share these rims between the 1200 and the 260z bit tire profiles are way off so I might get a set of ssr meshies for the 1200 from Benzed Quote
Aliangus Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I'd take the fog lamps off. Good looking car, the shakotans suit it. Quote
zzzzed Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 I haven't spoken about this one for a while. Yesterday I had it at Paul's zed gathering and also gave it a go on the dyno. 80rwkw stock as a rock. Now I know how much of an improvement I will gain when I fit up these bad boy. 40 mm makunis. Thank to Roberto. Peter has informed me that I need to down size the chokes before I put them on. Simon may recognize these carbs. I will also be fitting some lower springs soon to adjust this 4x4 stance. I must say I enjoy driving this car every bit as much as I do my rb powered zed Quote
zedevan Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 my car has/had what looks like the same driving lights on it, but mounted on a bar that ran between the bumper mounts. , They fit under there pretty well Quote
zzzzed Posted August 11, 2013 Author Posted August 11, 2013 So any how. I finally got to do something to this I had hoped to have these triples running this weekend but things were working against me first I cracked the thermostat housing trying to change the plug on the side. And then I broke a bolt off in the head when trying to remove the housing. Oh we'll there is always next week. Quote
Fairlady Z Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Hmm bit of bad luck with the housings and bolts Mick. But those triples look awesome.. Any work on the limey??? Diff updated? Quote
zzzzed Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Yes Limey has a 4:3 LSD and a bob tail since you saw it last Quote
Roberto Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 They look great! I assume the weber soft mounts fit then? Quote
zzzzed Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Yeh. I ha no dramas with them. I think if they were 45mm it may have been a different story though Quote
