Hi guys, I have sold my 2+2, now I'd like to move some parts that it wasn't feasible for the buyer to take with him. 4x14" 260Z alloys, all with heaps of tread left on the tyres, centre caps and full set of wheel nuts. $300 ono Original 260Z Steering wheel - not in very good condition would need refinishing, but complete with centre cap. price = small donation to site. Located in Adelaide. Cheers, Alex.

Sadly, the bus has been sold, and will be on its way to its new owner tomorrow.... the buyer is aware of VicZcar, and I'll let him make himself known if he chooses. Unfortunately it wasn't feasible for the buyer to take the original steering wheel and alloys, so they will be for sale in the parts section soon.

Thanks Roth. Price dropped to $9,800

Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
Aliangus replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
Shameless plug, but I've got a much neater bus advertised in the for sale section -
Model: 260z 2+2 Location: Adelaide Required Price and Payment Conditions: $9,800 cash, bank cheque or EFT Item Condition: Good to Excellent Body: Rust: minimal in left dogleg and door, behind right rear wheel Mechanical: L26, 5 speed manual, round-top carbys Registration: Currently on SA Historic rego Engineers Certificate: Not applicable. Contact Details: PM / Mobile: zero four zero eight zero eight two zero one nine To expand a bit on the template details: I bought this car from a well known Victorian forum member about two years ago, deal was virtually done over the phone after advice from Lurch/TinpotHitler that this was a good straight Z and well worth buying. I bought the car to be a weekender to enjoy, and it has been exactly that. It's reliable, fun to drive and in good enough condition to turn heads. The car has the original L26 and matching 5 speed manual. Before my ownership the car had Genie headers and round-top carby's fitted. Since owning the car I have: fitted a Momo steering wheel as the rubber on the original was a bit spongy. Original wheel will be included with sale. fitted 16x7 (front) and 16x8 (rear) performance superlites. Tyres have only done about 4,000kms, so obviously have plenty of tread left. Also included in sale are 5x original Z alloys, all tyres on these are also in excellent condition. Overhauled the brakes, including new master cylinder. Fitted a new battery There is a small amount of rust in the left dog-leg and door, and a small amount behind the right rear wheel, but for a Z this car has very little rust. Cheers, Alex.

Sorry it's not the best pic, but hopefully it gives you some idea. They fill out the guard reasonably well, with the tyre sitting close to inline with the bodywork not way inside it like the standard rims but still have plenty of clearance.
-
I've got 16" superlites on my 77 2+2, they fit fine, no mods needed. I've got 16x7 +12 fronts and 16x8 +4 rears, just because i thought the wider rear would fill the guards a bit better and I wasn't worried about not being able to rotate the tyres front to rear.

I commute on a bike most days. I just changed from an Avanti 26" with normal brakes to a GT Karakoram 3.0 29" with disc brakes. I'd buy a new bike, from what I've experienced second hand bikes mean its just sooner until spokes start going ping, derailers need adjusting, brakes are shot etc and you spend more time fixing them than riding them. I'd go with disc brakes - they are much better. Front suspension lockout is a nice touch too, makes riding on the road a little bit easier as energy from pedalling isn't lost into suspension movement. The 29" is smoother and faster to ride than the 26", can't comment so much on the nimbleness, because I'm not nimble anyway so it doesn't matter what the bike does. The GT is a good bike for about the $800 mark, (add a bit more if you want to swap to cleat pedals etc), and it's a pretty reasonable kit to get you started and see if its for you.

your car is coming along nicely Chris. If you can't find the watherstrip as a stand alone part, have a look in the parts for sale section - StMok is trying to sell a couple of sets of complete rear windows - that may get you what you need?

240z value with L26 or matching number L24
Aliangus replied to Magnet's topic in General Discussions
I don't know what the NSW rego laws are, but my understanding is that in SA you can only get historic/club rego if you have matching numbers, which you may or may not want to look into depending on what your plans for the car are. -
adding my voice to the many saying thanks to lurch for his hard work and succinct advice

micks 260z 2 seater building the family
Aliangus replied to zzzzed's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
I'd take the fog lamps off. Good looking car, the shakotans suit it. -
To back up what Rev said, my 77 2+2 is running 16x7 (+12) with 205/55 fronts and 16x8 (+4) with 225/50 rears and has no issues at all scrubbing, no spacers, no flares or other mods required, and all legal. Rims are Superlites.

Keep fighting, the insurance company needs to look after shareholders first and policy holders second, so theyre always going to try to pay out as little as possible. Good luck. If you need to prove that 2k wont buy a car like yours, point him in the direction of Shannon's own auction results http://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/lot/NT0F477B186BVO26 or http://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/lot/AQ5V50DE7H6151OR

Supply and demand will drive price - and with cars demand changes as the buyers change. XU1s GTHO etc became expensive as the people who watched them race as kids got wealthy and then had the disposable to spend on cars. The price will decline as the people who actually watched them race die, and as the cars have less relevance to people born in the 80's who never saw them on a racetrack. Similarly, mid 90's japanese sports cars will probably appreciate in value when people born in the mid 80's get to an age when they can afford (and want) to spend money on this sort of car (but not to the same extent as some of XU1 etc). Cars that were never desirable in the first place will never be worth anything. That said, if you are just worried about investment - leave your money in the bank. Best way to make a small fortune out of cars is start with a large one. If you do want a Z, buy the one that's right for you. For example for some people spending say 7k on 240 that is a project might be the right car for them because they want to build it and make it their own, spend countless more hours and dollars on it etc and then drive it in 5 yrs time, but for other people that 7k might be better spent on a Z32 that they can start driving straight away. As a difference, I bought a +2 so I could take my daughter in it, she's in it 8/10 times I drive it and she thinks its great fun, so I wouldn't swap my bus for a two seater - yet.

That engine looks awesome. If you want to turn this trip into a cruise, I'm in.

I should be able to help with this. I'll probably have mine out and about next weekend. I think mine still has the original seal it looks a little on the perished and cracked side, but it still keeps the weather out reasonably well.
-
Welcome. Well done on finishing uni, hope you enjoy your Z. It does look quite original. Any plans to convert it into a manual?

+1. I wasn't a big fan of Marco's, but he made the sport entertaining. I said to a mate only on Saturday that Marco would be a championship contender of the future if he could only stop crashing. A great talent lost in a shocking crash.
-
Good luck with the search, I'll suggest posting in the wanted section - you just don't know what someone might want to sell that they hadn't got around to advertising yet - it worked for me. And some people prefer the bus, so don't be deterred from going down that path if that is the way you want to go.

Good luck with the resto - it looks like a pretty solid base to start from. What's been done to the interior, besides the padded centre console and the 240 steering wheel? -
Finally a zed owner...again

Great negotiating skills! Good luck with the build. A 2+2 is a family wagon
