not intending to sound rude Agno, but most people would just look at the c10 gtr and think its just another old datsun.

At the end of the day, you are the one that owns/drives/maintains/shows it off, so you should be happy with it. Bugger what everyone else thinks, they can have their driver disconnected plastic fantastic electronic new cars, they just dont get it. 8)

(having said that, modern cars make great daily's)

exactly.

But on a different note why there aren't any here yet. simple

For that dough you can buy some very impressive cars.

just to name a few

996 Porsche Turbo or any older than current model 997 (though seen a 997 turbo as low as 140K talk about depriciation) or couple of them

R35 GTR

R34 Nur GTR with spare cash for another R34 GTR to thrash around

Quite a few Ferraries , 512, 348, F355, 360 even F430,etc......................

I'm a Z fanatic and love to have a 432. I would consider spending around 50-60k for one but no more.

But if it came to crunch to part with 100K + ill be looking at any of the above in no time before considering the 432.

well actually if I was going to spend 100k+ it wouldn't be Nissan/Datsun for sure.

And there's the problem. I admit I wouldn't and  most of us wouldn't consider spending 100K hard earned mula on a Z. We are the biggest fanatics to the model and we still wouldnt do it. .

If there was someone in AUS that would there would have been one here long time ago.

even though some of the best cars here prob cost roughly about that to rebuild but it was in dribs and drabs make sit easier to deal with than smacking big lump at once.

my hat off to the first person who brings a 432 into the country.

just hope one day those lotto number come up.

Valid point nizm0, I still stand by what I said though.

I'm pretty sure this has already been discussed but there isn't the same money involved in these cars (as a generalisation) compared to other makes/models because not as many people connect with our old Zs and remember how much they idolised them as a kid, especially compared to the GT Falcons, Toranas etc. The time for our cars is coming, we can thank the internet for showing younger kids just how cool these cars actually are 8)

Re the comment about the first person to bring one into the country - I need to check one of the books I have here at home but I do recall an article about a Z432 in Australia - or was it an Australian who owned it in Japan...I will have have to find that article...will look for it now.

Update: Ok that article was from a 1974 magazine - it was a Z432 owned by an ex-Australian Advertising Exec living in Japan, it was Chassis ID PS30-00017 and the colour was GP Racing Green aka 907 paint code. Not to say after 74 he could have returned to AU and imported the car. But it was located in Tokyo at the time the article was published.

Interesting breakdown of costs on that one.

And may quite be, a 432R. Were't they all orange with black bonnets, that came with 4.5" steel rims?

$194,382 AUD

excluding compliance

11,440,000 JPY FOB

  @ 79.25 yen bank rate

  = AUD $144,353 FOB

AUD $2,020 shipping

  ~ 12x USD$85/m3 freight

  (estimated shipping size!)

  ~ $1,000 customs costs

AUD $0 import duty

  cars over 30 years exempt

AUD $14,898 GST

  $144,353 + $4,629 x 10%

AUD $32,010 LCT

  Luxury Car Tax

Whats interesting, is that you pay luxury car tax on it  ???

Posted

Anything worth over $57,300 has to pay LCT, unless it does less than 7.0l/100km on a combined cycle, which for some reason I doubt this would :P

Whats the go with the spoiler on the red car I put up?

Seems to have two raised fins towards the boot lid key hole.

I thought that LCT was only payable on a new vehicle or on a vehicle less than two years old.

I would have thought similar.

Cos having a Z is not a luxury, its a necessity!

hahah so why are so many JDM zeds rocking around with BRE spoilers?

I feel violated.......hehehhe.

or are there two BRE type looking spoilers?

Nice pics. Wonder what this would be worth if it's a real factory racer

Academic, because it's not a genuine factory 'works' race car.

It's actually a "replica" ( some of it pretty loose in terms of accuracy.... ) of Nissan's very first Z432-R race car, the one that was written off in its very first race. It was built by my friend Mr Ando and his team at T.A. Auto in Chiba, Japan for a customer and is based on a standard Z432 road car.

What so many Americans call "BRE" rear spoilers were simply BRE's copies of Nissan's own designs. The very first rear spoiler for the S30-series Z ( the one with the two reinforcing ribs on the front surface, as see on the red car in the above pics ) was designed and manufactured specifically for the Z432-R by Nissan in mid 1969 before Pete Brock of BRE had even seen a 240Z.....

The subsequent factory design of rear spoiler ( the simplified one without the ribs, offered as a showroom option in Japan and standard equipment in Europe, UK, Australia and NZ ) was also copied by BRE - with some small differences - and sold through 'Interpart' in the USA and Canada as a "BRE" rear spoiler. Lots of people think that BRE designed the rear spoilers for the first generation Z, but that's not the case.

I had not seen the ribbed ones. Any idea if they are still available? I would like 1 but don't want a cheap copy :).

Thank you Sir for allowing me to feel unviolated lol.

No wonder I always see them the jdm cars vs the US muscle styled cars.

Might be a massive long shot.... BUT...

Does anyone know of a resource that lists the engine and vin numbers of the 400 odd Z432 produced?

Assuming you were looking to buy a Z432.... How would someone confirm if the car is the original chassis that the motor can in (from Nissan) or if it is just a rebody S30 with the S20 motor dropped in?

I would image that a non-matching number car would be potentially worth less??? (my background is 50's XK Jaguars) or beacuse of the limited numbers of these cars still in existance is sort of way too hard to work out what is a legit Z432 and rebody?

Any thoughts?
