Was that in a Silvia?  Do you or your dad or someone have a Polo tir33d?  A friend of mine Ryan Tracy (Dick) was telling me about someone doing that same time in a Silvia, he has a Polo.

Did a sprint at Phillip Island today with the Skyline & WRX group, great day weather wise.

Managed to do a PB 1:48.4, was very happy with the time.

Have got video and GPS data for the lap will post it later.

cheers,

Sinisha

Whoa! Nice work Sinisha, how do you find the gnose with the air dam compared to without, particularly in the corners?

Hi Gareth, I really can't say as I also have an under tray with diffuser under the front which made a lot of difference.

But, I think that a gnose and spoiler will work much better than what you had before.

Thanks Peter, My goal today was to get a 1:48 something which happened in the first session, then I seemed to go backwards, 1:49.0.

Maybe I was starting to overdrive the car and went slower, don't know?

Hi Sinisha,

Great time, just checked Natsoft results, 4th overall. Wanted to get there myself today but had some work to do. My good mate Dale in his VZ Commodore DPM motorsport did a ripper time 1:41.56, spoke to him and he said the weather was awesome, he also talked a bit about your Z Sinisha.

Great time Sinisha.

Video is in a better spot this time too. No air noise so we can actually hear the car  :D

Nice bit of steering.  Well done

Thanks for the compliments gents, but there is one bit of footage that could change your minds.

On one of the runs I ran out of talent and went off at turn 2, no damage (except the dry cleaning bill).

If there is enough interest I can post it as well.

cheers,

Sinisha

Winton raceway            LS1 240Z ...now with slicks ..... 1min  35.8 sec

previous best time was ...with semi slicks.....1 min 38.7 sec

Came in second in the Super TT lites, times were  taken on your best standing lap added to your best flying lap.I was beaten by a Nissan GTR by approx. 1.3 sec on the standing lap and only 0.2 sec on the flying .So I was pretty happy overall , worse luck the GTR blew its engine.

This might sound a bit weird , but I found that there wasn't that much difference in driving technique.

Other drivers had warned me about the grip going from great to nothing without warning , but I found that the car gave me time to react, it might have been less reaction time but it was enough.

The most notable difference being the time it took for the tyres to get enough heat [become sticky] into them. This meant that the first half lap was definately more treacherous due to sliding  front and rear.

I'm still not happy with my brake setup, so I was apprehensive about standing on the brakes late, especially after race 2 when I discovered that I had worn the rear pads back to metal on metal.Kept on racing tho...lol

The car setup wasn't changed between the 2 races i.e slicks against semi slicks, but  the engine was dialled up another 300 rev on the limiter.Interestingly the outcome of the slicks creating more corner speed meant that the car reached the limiter at approx. the same spot on the track as at the  previous revs setting.

Overall the car felt good, my gear changes need to improve heaps .The standard T56 holden 6 speed has very slow synchro changes , so if you try shifting fast you lock yourself out of the gear your after, very hazardous when relying on engine braking to help stop you.

If your after easy time savings per lap slicks are brilliant, cheap 'no', but effective.

You have the AZC Wilwoods all round don't you Chev?  You weren't happy with them?

Pad selection may be more critical than the actual calipers Steve?

Are you running S/S braided lines? What about a master cyl brace?

Yeh, I have heard the pads that come with them are pretty ordinary, I am still trying to decide which pads to change to.

hawk pads ordered direct from the states. Email hawk to get general advice on the compound and then go to hawkpadsdirect.com to order them. They will take about a month to come through but at $80 a set to the door over $180 a set in Aust. how can you go wrong???

Sounds like the way to go, thanks, that price just made my mind up.  Though I may offer that price to an Australian company and see what they say... lol
