Riceburner Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Phillip Island is the only reason why I would consider living in Vic but its a damm good reason Anyway front wheel chatter eh. Well it just so happens mine did that too when the front dampers low speed bump was adjusted up too much, the front wheels wanted to understeer skip across the tarmac mid corner. Backed the adjustment off and it was fine. Good point, I did adjust the KYB's to their hardest setting before the weekend and didn't think to dial them back to the setting I had last time I ran. It has never done it before so I guess it was either shocks or the camber change. I'll try the shocks first as it's a 2sec change. Thanks. Maybe it's cause I run a soft rear spring in comparison to the front, but disconnecting the rear sway bar made ZERO difference and I would say I'm running reasonably fast times...... Quote
Lgee Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Good to catch up with you Gareth, of course my car is back at home and running like a charm again, very frustrating going to the track with a car that hasn't missed a beat in 6 months only to play up on the day and then the next day be all good again i played around with it last night and it came good. would not fix itself on sunday at the track. PZG302 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Today at Lakeside running round 1 of the Qld Prod. Sports Championship I got the green monster from a mid 63 to qualify ninth down to mid 61's in the races to finish with an 8th in race 1 and 5th place for the other 3 races. Stinking hot day around 40 and a reported track temp near 60. All the guys who do 59's were in the 61's as well. The oldest car in the field by some 20 years opened some eyes and gained a lot of respect today and will be a top 5 car for the season and will only get quicker. I'm too tired to write a full report and about to fall asleep. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 20, 2011 Moderators Posted February 20, 2011 Excellent..and well done. It's great when a zed puts alot of newer model cars to shame. Quote

sco_aus Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I have been wanting to post a time on here for like 4 years... And now I can!! 260Z 2 seater, RB25DET, 200rwkw, lots of suspension mods. Only did 9 laps (not in a row) and with a bit more practice and a few tweeks and some much better brakes I reckon I can get a whole lot faster. Wakefield Park 1:14.054 Quote
DAZDA Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Chassis 73 240Z Engine Standard L28, Round Top SU Carburettors, Points Ignition (from factory when new the carby L28 had ~100kW at the flywheel) so this one probably has about 80kW at the wheels at best... DAZDA Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 And how were those second hand semis compared to your old rubber!!!! Like chalk and cheese. They certainly make track days infinitely more fun. Quote
chev z Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 After 2 yrs of no racing frustration , while building up next car, have raced twice in 7 days . The 240z with 5.7 ltr / six speed /wide body flares achieved what I think are respectable times firstup At wakefield 1.11.48 Winton long track 1.38.72 Interesting day at Winton ,after 3 sprints in the H2 class the officials informed me that they had had 5 competitors complain that I should be in the next classup i.e. super TT lites So with only one race to go they shifted me. The reason being for the interest in motor sport. ?? It is interesting to note that when in the H2 class I led by 10 sec after shifting to the STT lites class I was beaten into 2nd place by a full on Mazda race car with space frame etc ....BY 20 sec Obviously my "interest in motor sport" is less than the other whinging 5 competitors in the H2 class...lol Quote
260DET Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 So what make of cars did the Winton Whingers drive? Its hard to get away from egos on the race track. Quote
chev z Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 The officials don't divulge names or car types Interestingly , after checking out the lap times on NATSOFT, the gap between myself and second in H2 was an average of 3.7sec a lap and between him and third was 3 sec approx. After being shifted the gap between the mazda and I per lap was 10.1sec , hell that thing was quick. It set a new lap record, beating Kev Mackrell in the yellow and purple 4x4 260 2+2 dattos time It's funny but I have always found that car people are great , but was warned that racing people are good until you get to close to their times. Perhaps the fun times are eroding away and it's time to bring out the EVIL steve...nah, stuff it, I'm to old for that rubbish. Not to mention not skilled enough to carry out the EVIL threats of dominating a race class NB; EVIL, is said in the Austin powers way with psycho laughter following. Quote
tir33d Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Don't worry mate, its great to have the win but some care more about the $8 trophy they hand out. It can get really narky out there, my local club (Bathurst Light Car CLub) have a great bunch of blokes, but there are a couple of tossers. I always enter myself in the toughest, nastiest class so there are no complaints, and I laugh hysterically at my mistakes, take the piss out of everyone and generally just show I am there for fun. If we wanted to be pro drivers we would be unloading our open wheelers that have our house mortgage papers attatched. Don't let them get to you, just put a nastier cam, bigger heads, run E85, put on some slicks and get some massive brakes. That will really give em something to complain about. Quote

C.A.R. Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Cheers James Jane got a 1:10.??. Her excuise for not going faster was that she was always being held up in the corners by Z32's! LOLZ! Quote
zed74 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Maybe the z32's could be used as snow ploughs this winter at Mt Buller! I know some of them are very quick - but it is also a "buzz" to harass more modern equipment with a 35 - 40year old Z! Quote

260DET Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 1:04's is good for a first timer that's for sure. Except for one all the Z32's were newbs, good to see them having a go too Quote
