RB30X Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Sounds sweet gareth. It's set up well for the twisty bits isn't it. You were cleaning up. Quote
Scando Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Nice Turn in looks quite good in that clip. Managing to keep it fairly tight on the exit of the right hander at the bottom of Lukey Heights which you wouldn't be able to if it was pushing too much. That Merc is really struggling with the twisty bits! Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 So at the Vic BBQ, G-man barrels up to me, grabs me by the shirt, drags me over to his Zed & thrusts my nose at the slightly corroded bits on the Ricey. "Fix this!" "I can't - I'm too busy" "I'll beat you up!" (G-man is a big bugger) "OK OK - Have to be after Christmas though" "NO! Next weekend I'll drop it off" "I can't G-Man, I..." G-Man gets a wheel brace out... "Umm... well next weekend sounds good!" So... G-man dropped it off on Saturday & I got to work: Cracked LHS guard corner: Fixed: Ugliness in doors: Would you like your doors in one piece or two, G-man? Ewww... Extra well ventilated: More as it happens... Quote
Riceburner Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 Less talky more worky! lol Wow, you work fast mate!!! I like tha added ventilation, always felt a little warm on the inside Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 BTW Who/where did the roll cage come from, mate? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 12, 2010 Moderators Posted December 12, 2010 Its going to look very schmick for the next season of racing! Just be prepared for some extra stone chips. Quote
Riceburner Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 Cage was done by brown Davis, they did a very neat job I thought. Powdercoating to color of my choice was included in the price. Quote
dalee Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I like tha added ventilation, always felt a little warm on the inside Driver comfort and a lighter car, got to be worth 1/2 a second off your lap times Gareth. Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 From this: To this: All welded up: And finally tonight: Just a couple of edges to tidy up & it can go back on Quote
Scando Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Can't believe you're patching up the weight reduction holes, there goes the lap times Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 13, 2010 Moderators Posted December 13, 2010 Can't believe you're patching up the weight reduction holes, there goes the lap times If you cover up all the "speed holes", you'll end up doing my sort of lap times Gareth... Quote
Riceburner Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 I figure the new sleek lines should have less drag and if the driver doesn't have too much Christmas turkey then there could be some weight saving too!! Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I spotted a rusty patch in the door jam when I first removed the passenger door. I'm glad I investigated further... A few small holes but nothing too major. Quote
peter mc Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Hi Gareth, Thought i would post some pics of the p90 that i am doing for you. It has taken a little bit longer than i would have liked but it is coming along now. Quote
RB30X Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Gareth you dirty dog. Is this going to get a bigger cam too???? Quote
Riceburner Posted December 19, 2010 Author Posted December 19, 2010 Whoa! Peter, you da man I'm going for a 74 works rally grind from wade, was thinking 76 but rather be a little cautious at first with the 74. Can always upgrade if I like later. I have an awesome girdle from Simon that I'll keep for another motor as the machining is all done on the new motor, but for this one I have this arriving in a few days from Ishihara-Johnson Wonder if the family would object to xmas in the shed..... hehe. Quote
peter mc Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Lots to do Gareth but i plan on getting most of it done as i ahve 3 weeks off over x-mas. I will keep you updated. Quote

Riceburner Posted December 19, 2010 Author Posted December 19, 2010 Simon it's from Ishihara-Johnson, was $74 plus $40something for express post. Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Pete gives good head I've finished the PS repairs on the 240, but the DS will have to wait till after the new year. I've also included a pic of a little mod I've done on G-mans request: Just needs painting now. Certinly cleans up the lines on the back of the Zed... And a couple of crappy 'arty-ish' shots: Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 22, 2010 Moderators Posted December 22, 2010 Hmm...could you make another exhaust cutout "filler" plate again? need one for my zed..and how much? Quote
