What do you think guys, With numbers or without?

What I think is that you can have the 2000GT as long as I get the Lancia Stratos in the background!  As far as the colour scheme goes though - where would you finish the blue spot?  The front of a zed has a few more defined edges at the front, might make it a little harder to get it looking right?  And if a lot of its use is for track days, stick your normal race number on it (assuming you can request numbers in the track days you do)...

I think it's very close to the rally zed paint scheme in terms of the layout, so I would stay close to that styling but extend the pin stripe past the doors to the back of the car. Maybe even do the rear spoiler in blue as well......

It's driven very rarely on weekends and track days. I've actually changed my mind on the color scheme  ::). I've been trawling through images on the net and have decided to go with the Toyota 2000gt Shelby race car color scheme. I think it's a little less 'look at moi' and will be a lot easier to do on my car considering it's already white to begin with.

Hoping to have it ready for the NDSOC concours later in the year  ;D

Hey mate,

I've considered the same thing in terms of giving my car an old school livery design and 2 tone paint job. The BRE cars look awesome with the white section lower down, but red across the top. I'd use the BRE two tone and line divisions.

However instead of red go with the blue like the 2000GT.

I've actually been thinking of doing the same kind of thing, but instead of a flat colour like red and blue / white etc.. I was thinking of painting my 240z in Silver (since it was originally Silver) and giving it a second tone of a deep metallic red.

I have no idea if it will look good, so I've been thinking the best thing to do is use Photoshop to come up with your concept and if you are happy with that, then take it to the next step.

No problems.

You might also want to checkout http://www.chipfoose.com/

Chip Foose designed the Shelby Mustang GT500 Replica used in Gone in 60 Seconds. He does an excellent job in my opinion of making subtle modern changes but keeping that cool vintage look. There are some projects on his site, but there was also a TV show called 'overhaulin' which had some cool restorations.

Here is 1 example, you may find more on youtube.

You can see the Hemi Cuda has an orange paint job with a deep brownish 2 tone colour. Looks awesome, could look good on a Z too and Big Sam (In the UK) had a similar colour scheme, not to mention the rally cars also as you first mentioned in this thread.

Today I fitted Tension control kit to the front suspension, they basically eliminate compression of the control arms under braking giving greater stability to front end.

Also fitted the NOS wing mirrors I got from japan and the MSA 'Victory' rear spoiler. It'll be painted when car goes back to shop for freshen up, same with the front, black gel coat will do for now. Door mirror will go when new doors are painted/fitted. I think it looks ok  :)

Also fitted rear Tow Hooks but the front one wiil need some mods to fit with front spoiler, these must've been desinged on a standard car.... ZCC never mentioned this  ::)

The trusty parts car (Jap 260 2+2 L20A 5spd) lurking in the back of shot, The body is swiss cheese but has been very handy for spares.

New goodies arrived on the doorstep this afternoon  ;D Should get it fitted shortly

I also got a factory service manual, these have soooo much more detail than any other manual I've seen before. It's as thick as a bible too, might put it in the bedside draw  :)

Fitted the MSD unit today, it's up near the battery infront of carbs so should have reasonable airflow around it. I didn't set up the launch/burnout rev limiter as I only want to the high rev limiter. I also left the old module and spare wires below coil incase the new unit fails, everything is labelled to make it easier 'if' it does need to be reconnected  ;)

The IC&E leads were a little disappointing with number 1+3 a bees d#@k off to short to use, I'll be asking for proper length replacements at no cost!
