68GTCS Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Hi all, Just recently bought my first zed - a silver 240 that is fresh off a nice new paint job and mechanical freshen up. Still needs some more attention mechanically as the previous owner wanted to store the car rather than use it. I'd like to thank everyone that has contributed to the site as it was invaluable to me in preparing to find the right car to buy. A special thanks to the poster of the link to practical classics guide to buying a 240z. It really confirmed for me that the car was a beaut. Also, not sure if this is "on-topic" but I'm looking for a recommendation for a mechanical shop in Sydney that either specialises in Datsuns or has good reports working with zeds - brakes, engine tuning, exhaust etc. Particularly in the eastern suburbs of Sydney or in Sutherland (where I work). I've been to Stewart Wilkins but it is just too far to go to Windsor for routine mechanical work. Regards, Scott Quote
sexual_sushi Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 looks very tidy, those wheels look great too! if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay? Quote
620Z Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Nice looking Zed Scott. Welcome to the site. I hope you keep us posted as you make any improvements to your pride & joy. Quote
68GTCS Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 I parted with 19thousand which still feels like too much for the amount of car. That said, it is cheap for the amount of fun I'm having. Also, has anyone else noticed that 240ies are listed at 24.5k in the 2009 unique cars price guide!? Just saw it this morning and was shocked to see it. That is condition one but still, their definition of condition one is far below concourse and probably about the very good most auction houses use. Anyone going to the Shannons Sydney Auction tonight? I'm thinking about it - that stage one buick would be exciting! Quote
nat0_240_chevZ Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 VERY!!!! nice car. kudos, yes it was $$$'ey but its worth every cent, you can spend alot in getting it back to that condition. provided its been done properly then yes money well spent. nat0 Quote
Mr240z Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Hey Scott the Sydney Zed boys are getting together this week ,You should come along Nice Zed, I threw a set of the chrome spokes rims away years ago, Doh!!! Anyway keep looking in the Sydney section Pauly Mr240z p.s I use a workshop in Sydney but do 85% of the work myself (mostly for tuning my triples) Quote
George Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 congrats scott. nice looking car. you must bring it out to this weeks meet if you can make it. most of us are local to eastern suburbs as well. doubt you will find a workshop that specialises in z's around here. just find a good old school mechanic that knows what a carby is and wish for the best. silverz Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Hi, Nice Silver Z. Looking at it I realised I have posted quite a few times but never sent any pictures of my car. So here is yet another silver 240Z, they must have made heaps of them in silver! My car is not as flash as many. It is really just a fairly stock daily driver. It is not up to the standard of the beautiful cars I see on this site, however the Darwin Wet season light in these photos seem to suit. These photos are aprox 18 month old. The car now has NT personalised plates (24OUNCE) I will need to register her in Queensland soon and will not be able to use these plates unfortunately. She is quite stock and even has original Datsun front & rear mudflaps and the original AM radio. I this works out I am new at posting photos. Thanks Peter 000_0293.jpg 000_0295.jpg Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 13, 2009 Moderators Posted February 13, 2009 Peter, your 240 is pretty damn clean! Not sure why you are saying its not as clean as some others... Quote
silverz Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Glad you like her Zedman, she is a great honest car but not perfect or as "improved" as most of the cars on this site. I will post more photos as soon as I can talk my son into showing me a better way to do it. I am not that happy with the way the photos worked out. Regards Peter Quote
sco_aus Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 silverZ: Before I even looked at the car, I could tell that was Darwin. So Darwin to Townsville huh, A.J? Quote
silverz Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Yes, it is not hard to work out is it! Quote
