He goes fishing a lot on the Murray and had noticed a "car like mine" over the past 5 years on a secluded property by the river called bearii (beer eye). He knew I was looking for a parts car so he told me about it. So I went to investigate and to my surprise there she was sitting outside, a white 2 seater. I knocked on the door and got chatting, the next day I returned with a wad of cash. So she wasn't in a shed/barn but she wasn't on the market either until I enquired. A few others before me had made offers but the owner didn't accept them on the grounds that they were going to rip out her heart and slap in a V8. As I wanted to keep her as original a feasible, I got the nod. I still owe him a drive when she is finished. Now that I think of it there was also a black 280ZX sitting along side her, at the time I paid little attention to her. I should go for a drive to see if the black one is still there, just in case anyone is interested. Quote

Back home in County Monaghan (Ireland, but you know this gav) there lives an old doctor. he was a bit of a dude in his younger and not so younger days. he had lotus, several sports fiats, lancias and a karmann ghia (which im kinda thinking about). everytime a car broke down, you know half serious, like gearbox failure or other such faults, he would just park it up and buy a new car. no worries. jobs that would take a few hours resigned classics to their death. this man had an eye for the ladies too and even bought them cars. when they would split, he'd get the car back...and promptly left her out to rust away many people have gone to him offering money for rust buckets to take away and he always refused. has cancer now, must have a look at these soon. but considering the rain we get here... im not hopeful of their condition, i dont think they were even covered over. off topic pictures, not Z, but still cool would love to get the ghia and do this to it Quote
dalee Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I found one of my 240z's in a farmers barn in Western Victoria. The old cocky put a for sale notice on the general store public notice board and a family friend saw it and told me. His son had bought the car, driven it for a few months, moved to Geelong and left the car. The car was laid up for 12yrs in a dry machinary shed, wedged in next to the harvester and driven around the home block twice a year, once to get the harvester out and again a month later to get the harvester back in. The guy that owned it was using it for storage and has all sorts of cars and junk there like some honda Z's (and an MG-A i think, was a while ago now). He needed to clear it out, so I bought the 240 off him. He had another 240Z out on a property somewhere, it was HS30-00240. He said it was really rusty, and probably not worth restoring. The one I bought is also rusty, but fixable. Quote

chris240 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I found mine thru a work mate of Simons...it had been sitting under a carport unregistered for 5 years, 6 inches of dust & cobwebs, different rims all round, caked-on gum tree sap on the hatch, a seized carby and a stuffed battery...other than that, she was straight as a die and needed much detailing..I just found the 1st pics I took. The mustard car I "almost" bought 1 week prior..I wonder if anyone knows its whereabouts it sold in July 07 on ebay for around $6500, and was a very low number. It was a one owner Paddington Sydney car. Quote
Iceberg Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Hi Guys, So thought i start contributing to the forum rather than just digest all of the great work that has been done here so far. While i am typing the introduction i also want to post this. A month ago or so i get a lead that there is a clean Datsun 240z in a Barn in QLD. I managed to get a phone number of the owner so we had a decent chat, it all sounded perfect. One owner, complete, good condition 240z that has been stored for 15 years and one rusty one that can be used for spares. I am thinking that i have finally uncovered the holy grail of the Z's. Just before booking my flights and a rental car i thought i get a mate of mine to go an check it out as he lives near by. I will let you the judge of the 'good' car. On a good note, the parts are all there, matching engine (Dismantled) but it is not one owner and far from good. Owner wants a lot of money for the lot as it has family history. (Will not sell separately ) My recommendation is to store them dry and maybe in 10 years they will get what they are asking for. PS the owner asked not to share the contact details as they get to many offer to swap other cars or silly low offers. Shame to see such cars rusting away. Quote

Iceberg Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 The one inside the she'd is not as bad as the one outside. Floor, roof, guards, around one tail light and she is ok ish. Owner is a lady and is looking for $14,000.00 for the lot. However she doe not know much about the cars so number was placed in her head by some other people. I would say for $5000.00 it is a fair buy for the lot as there are a lot of spares on the "worst" car as it is nearly compete. Plus the better one is Matching number car. You can't even clean the windows on the one outside as the stain has burned onto the glass. Sad to see. The good things is that there are a lot of these cars still being stored in the back of the sheds. I have another lead for a original complete car but the "in between" man does not want to share it with me any longer as he realized what a complete good condition car is worth. I will share it with the forum once i get the contact information as I have found another two 240zs - paying a deposit next week and hopefully will be at my place by the end of the month. The price for those two is more realistic and cars are more honest. Quote

I can tell it's HS30 00150 because of the sunroof, rear view mirror etc.. I do wonder if that's #151 next to it? Quote
