XRQTR Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Only took a little over a year LOL Anyway first fuel fill pic, this is pre wheels and flares obviously Then the rear spoiler, this was Friday night so the sikaflex could cure The wheels waiting for wheel nuts, this was this morning the wheels on without flares this afternoon then the flares finally finshed them off about 7:30 tonight, didn't take long actually went and bought a nutsert gun set and it was actually easier than I thought This was tonight at a mates shop just having a look underneath Quote
XRQTR Posted November 29, 2008 Author Posted November 29, 2008 Also found out that the head has had some porting work done so possibly bigger valves but for some reason it's got a standard cam, oh well now I have to take the head off and see what pistons she's got, I think you know what I'm hoping to find. Worst thing about it though is that it's an absolute pig under 2500rpm, if you don't give it around 1200-1500 for even a light launch she just bogs right down. Quote
RBZ 260 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Man that looks sexy. another S30 to grace the roads with pride. great job. Quote
Glen Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 You can check your pistons witout taking your head off, Take a spakplug out and use a flat screw driver. just run it over the top of the piston to see wether its flat (fingercrossed) The colour scheme looks great well done. Quote
reverendzed Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 That looks awesome! you've done a great job! what size/offset are your wheels? Rev. Quote
Toecutter Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Looks great Steff. Hey Rev, they are the RB-R's, same as Lou's LC240, I think 9x17 -13mm and 9.5x17 -19mm. Worst thing about it though is that it's an absolute pig under 2500rpm, if you don't give it around 1200-1500 for even a light launch she just bogs right down. So where does the power cut out in terms of top end? I've got heaps of pull down low with no hesitation but with my stock cam and 40's 5500 rpm feels like the end of power curve for me. Sulio Quote
C.A.R. Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Looks great Stef. Not ricey like your Tyfoooooooon at all Quote
Mr240z Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Hey steff, man that looks great ! Question for you. Did you cut the guards to fit those wheels under the flairs and if so is the zed lowered paul Quote
yellazed Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Hey steff, man that looks great ! Question for you. Did you cut the guards to fit those wheels under the flairs and if so is the zed lowered paul I'd guess "no" on both counts but should have. Quote
XRQTR Posted November 30, 2008 Author Posted November 30, 2008 Ye Sulio it starts to taper off around 5 so I don't really push it much beyond that, no point. Lurch, ricey?? you loved it, you should drive it now it has 350rwkw, actually you can't coz the motor's out but once it's back should be in 400+ so might be ALOT more fun then. Paul, not as yet but will do soon enough, no need really just turn the Konis right up it still rubs a little but not much really. To all others thanks for your comments, I went for a bit of a Z432R with the bonnet and front spoiler meets ZG flares and rear hatch wing, although I actually mentioned to Sulio after seeing Lous white one I may just respray it..............Black Quote
XRQTR Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 Well I finally got my ITG filter yesterday and installed it that arvo, thing is though it didn't look right so I decided to have a little try of something, I think it finishes it off nicely now I just need some red leads and an aluminium radiator I decided to do the rocker cover to match, alos someone on another forum mentioned a red and black theme thing I was going for, thing is I wasn't but thought I might give it a try. What do you think?? Then as I was waiting for the paint to harden I thought I might go for some finer detail Quote
Hammer Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 This looks great! Since starting the project, how long has it taken you to this point so far? And how wide where your new wheels? I seriously have Zed envy with your car. Quote
George Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 have to agree that looks fantastic. black bonnet really sets it off. enjoy the ride. Quote
XRQTR Posted December 6, 2008 Author Posted December 6, 2008 Hammer it's been over a year and a half since I first bought the car, but most of that time it was stored elsewhere so I wasn't able to spend much time on it. The wheels are 9.5x17 rear and 8.5x17 front, they are the ones on the HybridZ forum group buy and are still available best of all they come powder coated not raw. Thanks George, ye I was kinda going for a Z432R kind of thing crossed over with the ZG flares so I guess it's a ZG-231-R LOL. Quote
Hammer Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Thanks for that. Sorry for all the questions - newbie. You said the wheels where the ones on the group buy...are they the Rota wheels? And what's the widest can you fit under a standard guard without lipping them (& adding ZG flares)? Looking at the pix, it seems your 8.5 fronts can fit under the normal guard, but the rear definately sticks out. Would a setup of 8x17 fronts & 8.5x17 rears fit under an un-flared guards? What offset for both would you recommend? Quote
XRQTR Posted December 6, 2008 Author Posted December 6, 2008 Dude you're asking the wrong person about sizes and fitment LOL, I'm not a wheel person but yes they are the Rota wheels, at a guess I think you'd definitely get the 8's under their without flares but you may have to lip the edges up though. Check out the thread on HybridZ (WARNING: IT'S A BIIIIIIIIG THREAD) some of the guys their were asking similar questions so you may well get your answer their. Quote
