Toecutter Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Well hi guys, The time has come to sell my car as I have other expenses that are currently a priority. Many of the blokes in Vic are familiar with the car. It is a 260 2 seater with 240 rear lights, (I preffered them and installed them with Lurch doing all welding, it was a neat job with pics on the forums. Everything I've done on the car has been noted here on the forums withs pics threads etc. The car has only been driven avery couple of months for events and is currently on CH plates. It has an L28 with tripple Dellorto's, extractors and elec dizzy. Suspension is low King Springs with KYB shocks. Wheels are ROH 17's in a ZG "offset". Half cage was only installed a few months ago and is a Brown Davis cage with all certs and reciepts for the track. Front brakes are upgraded to Hilux Calipers with slotted and cross drilled rotors. I have a new 15/16MC thats recoed and brakets for rear 280zx calpiers, (You'll find the calipers and discs easily for the rear upgrade if you want to install it). Interior is in great shape. There is more to mention however I'm bed ridden with the flu so I'll leave it at that. Price is $16,500.00 Just a heads up for anybody that might be interetsed I'll be listing it on various classifieds in a week from today. The cars a great driver just get and and enjoy. zr240 Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 NO Please all reading do not buy this car I will not allow sulio to sell!!!! Lurch lets go to his house on the weekend and chain him to the car!!! This has got to be a joke? Sulio if you sell this car then buy a porsche I will no longer talk to you anymore Ash
Toecutter Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 hehe - it's been hard thinking about whether or not to sell it. I'll see how it goes. I've got a few ideas but the reality is I just don'ty use it enough. I've started the demolision of the back of my house with builder due to start Nov 5. Should have a nice double garage by the end of it, so I'd like to have a bit of cash at the end of the build whether it be to finish off the house ot maybe even a new toy. Sulio
Moderators Zedman240® Posted September 25, 2008 Moderators Posted September 25, 2008 This isn't right.... we have to start up a collection or something for you to keep your Zed! :'(
Toecutter Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 This isn't right.... we have to start up a collection or something for you to keep your Zed! I'll play lotto on Saturday night. Sulio
stevo_gj Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Its worth more than that Sulio! If only I had the cash..... I'm really sad to hear you're selling it mate. You better win the lotto!
Administrators gav240z Posted September 25, 2008 Administrators Posted September 25, 2008 The irony of it is that you have the highest post count on the website Sulio, perhaps you should spend more time driving the Z than typing on the forums . I can understand you might want a change, but I think you'll be looking to buy another down the line. There just those kind of cars. If house commitments and other things are going on I can understand, but as Ash said don't think that buying a Porsche will give you any more satisfaction, especially the old Porsche's . Don't think you'll have a problem with the asking price.
zedls1 Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Hey Sulio, I met you at the Viczcar meeting and had a brief look at your car that night, great car, you've certainly put a lot of time and $ in getting it to this stage. Don't do it you'll kick yourself. I understand where you're coming from as i was in a similar position with $$$ required to do a reno, hence why i bought the zed after the reno. I'm sure it was and is a hard decision to make. Good luck with the sale. John
eddii Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 sounds too good to be true. if i only knew 2 years ago that yur selling this then i wouldnt have done all the ground up build to my car lets put it this way, i've spent close to your asking price and my car is not even close to being on the road!!! oh well, good luck with it. to anyone who is thinking of buying an old car and restoring it, just dont worry about the hassle and buy this instead! very reasonable price in my book
C.A.R. Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 WHAT THE HELL!!! I leave the state for 6 months & this shit starts happening! > Ash, If I wasn't in WA I'd be joining you in a linch mob. Sul, you do this & I'll never forgive you. You are NOT in that much of a financial stretch, to have to sell. Damnit, I'm half tempted to fly back & knock some sense into you!!!
NZeder Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Sulio if you sell this car then buy a porsche I will no longer talk to you anymore Ash I know a guy that has owned a few Porsche's but now he races a 240z - does that tell you something? He enjoys the zed more Don't do it, I will never sell the first zed I purchased (this is the only one I have left currently)
luvemfast Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I sold my S30 260Z which had a 3 year resto from bare metal when I bought my house. Thought I needed all the money I could get. I was wrong, would have been fine to keep it. I regret selling it. Theres a guy who drives a Porsche in NDSOC who used to have a 240Z, he talks more about the Z than his Porsche. What does that tell you. My point is- Don't do it
Toecutter Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Wow...overwhelming response. Yer well it is'nt even so much that I need the cash to be honest it just comes back to the fact that i don't drive it enough. I had quite a few phone calls from fellas on the forums pointing out they are hoping to have their cars ready by Christmas and we can get out and about. I guess I'll put off this idea of selling the car and see how things work out over the next couple of months. I also should get my ass into gear and get to more organised Z events outside of the auszcar stuff as there is usally something going on re track events like NDSOC stuff. Oh well, guess I better hook into my rear disc upgrade this weekend and hold on to the old Z for some time more! Cheers, Sulio
ZD44TT Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 dude seriously...........put it up to $20K...........don't give it away. I don't feel so bad if mine doesn't go seeing you sell yours............hahhahaha. maybe this is a sign that mine doesn't want to leave me..........ROFL bet you chicken out when someone rocks up with the dosh.....hehehe jk. I did once already. fark'n funny.........
620Z Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Well that came out of the blue Sulio. You know I don't drive my car much. But similar to my self I know you have put a lot of blood sweat and tears not to mention cash into the car. For the sake of 16K or there abouts it aint worth it. Take it from me it is always good to know in the back of the mind that you have a great car to take out any time you like. Not to mention the added interest on forums and events. Sell it and you will feel you are missing something, you will drop off the Z community radar. To buy a replacement later on will cost you far more than 16K regardless of make. Another Zed, well I couldn't see you building another one from scratch. Porsches, well as people have said you will still be 5-10 seconds slower around the track than a Zed. I reckon maybe your Miss's has been getting into your ear. Maybe you are considering trading in the wrong model. She should know the Zed comes with the Sulio package. A Zed should be for life man. :-) Put it off till after Christmas when all your renovations are done. then re assess your situation. You will have a garage at home with a Zed in it. You might like to wander out and tinker with it a couple of times a week. Maybe you are over thinking the reno and having a panick attack.
sco_aus Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Yeh good move to not sell Sulio, wait and see how it pans out. Porsche? Pffft!!! I thought you were straight? Oh and not driving it enough.... ive driven mine 3 times in as many years just about, you got nothing. :D
matt drago Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Sulio, Sulio, Sulio. Thank goodness you have decided not to sell the car for the moment. I've just moved house and the mortgage, whoa, but the Z is not an option to reduce the loan Dad is evicting me from his shed now that I have a double garage, so I should be able to get it out and about more. I'm sure that I'll finish the interior one day See you cruisen' soon. Cheers, Matt
ZD44TT Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Don't worry........everyone needs to be reminded that the grass is not greener on the other side at times. hehehhe.......... I have another car that ticks more boxes for me hence I'm still going ahead.
stevo_gj Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 You've made the right choice! So glad to hear you're not selling it mate!
nizm0zed Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 He who has the most toys wins. and as far as that zed goes, its one killer toy
Toecutter Posted September 26, 2008 Author Posted September 26, 2008 Yer I'll hold on to the old girl and finish the last bits I've been planning on doing. The extension to the house is covered as far as cash is concerned. But of coarse I can't dip into that for toys. I reckon maybe your Miss's has been getting into your ear. Maybe you are considering trading in the wrong model. She should know the Zed comes with the Sulio package. A Zed should be for life man. :-) Nah she's not fussed what I do, sell it or keep to her a cars a car, I'm pretty lucky on that front as I'm free to do as I please as long as it's not a motor bike or donor bike as she calls them after a nurse friend of ours told us about all the "great" young kidneys, livers etc they get from the young fellas that push a little too hard. Cheers, Sulio
Scoota G Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 So i suspect thats an end to speeding up the cruise videos and showing them to the missus then? You fiend, you really had me worried then. Pictures of your car (among other things) are what inspired me to get my Z up an mobile.
warrenz Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 What are you doing man.... the flu has really screwed the head, or is too much time for thinking. Get out of bed and get back to work and forget about it. All that time and effort sorting out those dellortos. Don't do it, increase the mortgage. Once you get the double garage and the car at home instead of the office you can jump in it any time you like. Warren

That way we can start organising bigger events with other vintage japanese cars. I haven't had the time to start putting good information on the site yet, but it has loads of potential. Not that i want anyone to abandon auszcar.com just wanting to expand my interest and others interests in these great old cars - lots of us grew up with. As much as I love old zeds, I sometimes get sick of just talking about Zeds, so its good to have some variety and learn new things. Or perhaps its time for an RB26 or something? The next big project .
