chris240 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 The scarab to me was a pseudo kit car, made by a 2nd party, no different to the cobra replica cars made in factories nowadays. Its still a great well built car but more realistically Id value it around the $50k. mark. Quote

dat2kman Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Yellow 280ZX with Auto trans and a aftermarket sunroof??? is expecting to get 6000 to 10,000 at auction, he has hammered the Datsun clubs all around Aus with its details. ( phone calls and emails) Sounds desperate to move it on! If it was a manual, maybe, but not at that silly dollar figure, more like 2000 tops!! Quote
bullzed Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 If it was a manual, maybe, but not at that silly dollar figure, more like 2000 tops!! I reckon it'd fetch close to 5k considering it's accolades and it's condition. I mean look at the 280 I sold for 1775, nothing compared to that! It looks mighty clean! Quote

At least it's complete though from what I can tell. Quote
Quandary Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 They are seriously kidding themselves at that price. Maybe here it would be acceptable but in the UK you can buy a mint first year Z for half of that. Quote
zzzzed Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I was under the impression that they where worth more in the uk because there are less of them because they have all rusted away from the salt they put on the roads. I remeber when i sold my 2+2 to a guy in the uk (IT is now owned by jay and is the famous gunmetal grey 2+2 with the zg flares) the guy i sold it to thought he was getting the bargain of the century he said they sold for double what they sell for in ozz. But then that was almost 10 years ago Quote

MIDAT Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I also went and look at it a few months ago when he had it advertised for $10,999.00. The photos in the advertisement are old photos as the car is now in a small garage, thankfully out of the weather. He also has two 280Z's (I think that's what he said). It sat out the back under tarps / covers for years and it does have rust. It has sweated under the tarps and it would be very interesting to look under the roof lining. The spare wheel well is OK and there didn't seem to be any rust around the fuel filler. Under the doors looked OK. The tailgate is RS, however the roof hinge area looked OK. The car is difficult to look at as you can just open the passenger door due to being close to the shed wall and whilst the gent said it does run, I didn't see it run. There was no chance of a test drive without quite a bit of work (moving other cars parts, cars, etc). The engine has been sitting for years with water / coolant in it. It also has round-top carb's on it and extractors. See the attached photos for Reg details and data plate. It looks OK; however without a really good look at it when accessible, it's not worth the asking money. I have more photos if anyone is interested. DJ Quote
Quandary Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Tidy looking green 240z #1310 in Sydney up on eBay. 1 bid already. I'm confused as it looks like a recent respray but there appears to be some scratches. It'll sell regardless though. Quote
