Considering the condition it's in IMHO that's a pretty optimistic asking price!!!; for not too much more one could buy a driving registered one.

FWIW, Kerikeri is in the Bay of Islands, well up north, so owner not likely to get many people coming to see it.

I don't like the look of the surface rust starting to come through the grey primer, methinks it's been sitting too long and there is grief to follow.

1971 Datsun 240z - Expressions of Interest (~$35K)

Chassis # 707

I have decided to put my 240z up for EOI’s for this week only, as I am considering taking on a different project and would need to part with this to get the required funds - not an easy decision.

Built April 1971, the car is early chassis no. 707 but does not have the matching numbers engine, it now has an L28 + 5spd.

I have had the car for a few years, the previous owner over in Vic had the L28 rebuilt, head ported, flow increased, 72 degree cam, 240z
Carbies previously overhauled,
Extractors and modified exhaust system
Suspension mods, incl lowering & adjustable lower control arms, Full Nolathane front end fittings, Diff rebuilt, Dash has moulded protection cap, immobiliser and central locking fitted.

All work was carried out quite a few years ago, but the car hasn’t done many kms in that time and is still running / driving great. The main issue at the moment is the brake master cylinder has sprung a leak into the booster which will need to be sorted, the indicator mechanism in the steering column also needs attention. It does have some rust on the front passenger guard and one of the doglegs - standard Z thing. The paint looks great from 10m away but there are some blemishes and spots to touch up.

Black interior is in good condition with the exception of a tear in the drivers seat.

As these things appear less on the market it is tough to call an exact price, but I will consider offers in the ballpark of 35k.

I like that, wonder what size those hotwires are? Look like 14x7 or 14x7.5, nice and fat!

The body:

Rust free and painted by Rise Again in Bathurst at the end of 2012. The original colour was white, and in the 90s, was painted... Pink, when it had the engine conversion (chassis was not cut at all to fit the engine). Taken back to primer and metal, it has been sprayed Arctic white, in a similar shade to Subaru.

Drivetrain:
Converted from L24 manual to Holden 308 red motor, fully registered and engineered in NSW. The gearbox was changed to a 5-speed manual from a Toyota Crown (similar to supra, but larger, stronger bearing). Diff is from an auto 240z, so longer gearing.

Engine has been warmed up with a cam and higher compression pistons and fuel is controlled by a Fitech throttle body EFI. It is a self tuning unit that uses a wideband O2 sensor to ensure that the engine is getting the correct amount of fuel at all rpm and engine loads.
Ignition is controlled by MSD dizzy, coil and leads, and Street fire (MSD brand) ignition box.
Engine is cooled by 4 row PWR radiator and twin SPAL thermo fans, controlled by the EFI ECU.
Currently running a 60amp alternator from 280zx and charges well. Next in the list would be an upgrade to this as it is under high load with thermo fans, ignition and EFI.
Heads have been upgraded to l34 valves and hardened exhaust seats (unleaded happy).

Brakes:
Front disc conversion to mustang vented, slotted and drilled 4 pot.
Rear disc conversion to Maxima v6.

Interior:
Frankly, 5/10. Dash is cracked and many guages don't work. Fuel, speed, temp all work. Have a handheld that reads all other engine sensors from the EFI. Have a separate oil and charge light.
Seats are good, no tears. Carpet is average (can buy whole carpet kits for about $400)

The upgraded brakes, v8 engine, modern shock absorbers and polyurethane bushes make for a well balanced all round cruiser that roars and snarls when you want it to.

This car is fully registered in NSW until February 2019 and needs no work. There are always things that can be done to improve, though!

Email is preferable as no service at home. Open to any question, don't make an offer untill we have spoken though.

Nice car and looked pretty solid.

Cheers Gav! The car actually won best JDM category at that show. I was surprised hahha

That is absolutely brutal. Sounds like he doesn't want to sell it at all.

You're not wrong there :(

Partly the reason why I put a slightly aspirational sell price to begin but mostly to weed out the low-ballers

I think he needs to man up and enjoy both worlds and tell the wife to relax. But I would also include this in the Used Car Cliche thread

http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14594-your-favourite-used-car-ad-cliche/page-3?do=findComment&comment=181752

LOL The mrs actually wants me to hold onto it, she loves it just as much as me.

I had to man up and realise that between a growing family, our daily cars plus a classic car and a motorbike and only myself supporting all of it something had to give.

No way I'll ever give up the bike :)

Datsun 260Z coupe RS Sport 1975 (2 seater)
$25,000

Datsun 260Z Sports

There comes a time when a man's health and life change and so the toys need to be moved on to someone else to enjoy so I am onselling a couple of my cars.
This Z car:
* Is in fair to good condition for her age.
* She has been shedded for years but will run
* Is original and complete.
* Would make a drive car with minimal work: or
* a great project for someone wanting to do a full restore.

This is a genuine car and is for reluctant sale.
The price is negotiable for genuine enquiries.

Report it, I saw that car a few years ago at a Pickles Auction, it sold for around $28k back then (2014)..

Click on the report ad link on eBay, I have already but if a few of you do it the more likely it will get pulled quickly.

I have just reported the item and also discovered;

Reported again, not sure where they get all these vintage accounts though!

Might be time to send a few emails to john65w@hotmail.com ?

*This was advertised maybe late last year for approx $12k, but the ad was pulled down pretty quickly, i assumed it was sold because the seller never got back to me, but is up again, same seller. If I knew how to find the previous post I put up, I would link, I think it had better photos.
