KatoKid
Melbourne please and preferable Eastern burbs! I'm missing mine and it turns out they aren't a normal thread type, more of a worm drive type thread. Assume 240 and 260 are the same? Cheers. gilltech
Assume 240 and 260 are the same? There are two types that I know of - one is a two-component item that suits the standard steel wheel rim (4 1/2" I think??) spare, so presumably all 240Z and also early 260Z; and then there's a longer (taller) type which suits the factory alloy wheel (5 1/2") fitted to many subsequent 260Zs. The 'steel rim type' isn't long enough to secure the factory alloy wheel. Same thread, but I have no idea what the designated pitch is. If you run alloys that are wider than stock then you might have to fabricate a retaining bolt. Edited August 27, 2017 by gilltech
KatoKid
Thanks gt. I'm going to have to fabricate a longer one either way, so as long as the thread pitch and size is the same it doesn't matter.
CBR Jeff
Dave I have a new one. You are welcome to have and replace it if you are is a rush. Alternatively I can try to work out where I purchased my one from. The tread is a castellated tread and quite curse. Jeff

KatoKid
Thanks guys. Looks like 240 and 260 are the same apart from length. Antone from greater Vic or interstate got one?
gilltech
The one in AndBir's pictures is the 2-piece steel rim version. The alloy wheel version has a circular retainer welded to the shaft.
GongZ
... they aren't a normal thread type, more of a worm drive type thread. It looks like an "Acme thread" is used. gav240z

gilltech
Presuming you need the longer alloy wheel type, perhaps check with someone parting out a 280ZX as those had alloys quite often the 6" width.

CBR Jeff
Dave Apparently It is distictly possible that the spare wheel clamp for a Nissan Murano (part number 74810-5M00A) may do the job? If you LND are nice they may let you try one? Jeff KatoKid

Administrators gav240z Posted August 30, 2017 Administrators Share Posted August 30, 2017 There is a few versions of the spare wheel hold tie bolt/assembly. Larger version (used with Z432 wheels I believe) and my HS30 #150 had it, which I think was fitted with dealer option wheels (Aunger Hotwires?) We discussed it on Classiczcars.com with Kats. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/23900-datsun-240z-vs-fairlady-z432/?do=findComment&comment=517791

KatoKid
Thanks guys. What people are wanting for these out of the US is over the top....plus freight....I'm not prepared to pay $100 for one and then chop it up anyway. I've bought some bits to make one, will keep you posted. Cheers

Any idea what it is off given your description and pics of the above standard securing solution. Many thanks Tony

Administrators gav240z Posted September 1, 2017 Administrators Share Posted September 1, 2017 Can't say I've ever seen that cover? Perhaps from another car? TDoherty
gilltech
Haven't seen one of those before. Looks to be a marked improvement on the flimsy piece of hardboard that Nissan provided.
