Enzo Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Man. You learn something new everyday. Thank you heaps for posting that. I didn't know that if you grind off around the edges that will stop rust forever. I think he has been sniffing his mineral spirits. I'm going to make a foam car now and then I can also use it as a boat when fishing. Maybe it won't sink. Cheers Jeff. Gave me a good laugh to finish the day off. David. Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted August 5, 2017 Administrators Posted August 5, 2017 Pffft. I have been doing it all wrong!!!!! Jeff What's both sad and funny is that doing it properly wouldn't take that much longer, some day all that bog will fall out going over a bump in the road.. I feel sorry for the poor soccer mom who buys it next. Quote

Cozza Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 How'd you guys pick the FJ24? What are the external differences in the FJ series to pick between them? Aren't the 24's quite a rare motor? Quote

Aren't the 24's quite a rare motor? I was guessing because of the fact it was N/A and had twin solex/mikuni carbs on it. Pretty sure the FJ24 was built for the 240RS only? But I'm not an expert. http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/10/silvia-240rs-made-for-rally/ Quote
CBR Jeff Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 (edited) How'd you guys pick the FJ24? What are the external differences in the FJ series to pick between them? Aren't the 24's quite a rare motor? You cannot tell from the video or probably unless you are standing next to it, but as Gav said it is set up like a FJ24. On reflection a more correct comment would have probably been it is a replica. The chances of it actually being an original FJ24 are fairly slim.it actually has a rocker cover from a later model FJ fitted. I navigated in a Sylvia (Gazel) during the early 1990's and we ran an original FJ24 along with lots of other works parts. It was a belter of a car but like a lot of those cars was well stressed and alas we broke a few motors. All of the parts came from Reg Cook in New Zealand who had links with Nissan in Japan.
