I'm sure there's others who have this problem, what's your best remedy to get rid of these nasty little things?

I've tried bug bombs twice already and they keep coming back :o

Be persistant, the baby nests are size f a pea, and will be suspended in their tack web.

Fly spray etc, will not penetrate into the sack that will contain 50-100 babies.

Even hitting them with insect spray, has the buggers crawling off, they can hold their breath, have been told.

Best roduct i have found and se, s made by Bayer, called Cislin, its a residual spray, you follow directions, and spray pissible areas.

They hde in brickwork weepholes, under window ledges, up each open tube of pool fence panels, under garden furniture.

When we found webs, we'd get our kds, ( toddlers way back) to touch and feel their webs, so that they know for the future.

Go to Bunning and buy the Ant and Termite (spider) spray that you mix your self ( Brunning brand ) it in a small bottle about 250mm for $14.95 this suff is deadly and will last up to six months.

I use this every six month around my house.

Since we are on the topic of pest control. Anyone know what is the most effective way to keep cockroaches out of the house?

Every summer the bastards return.

Just saw a special on the plane about brown snakes and snakes in general. If you get bittten tourniquet the area to stop venom travelling. It doesn't travel via veins it travels up the tissue so a tourniquet prevents it moving but doesn't stop blood flow through the limb. Provided you get bitten on a limb of course.

Go straight to hospital don't worry about IDing of snake they will do blood and urine test to determine what got you anyway.

Stay safe. ;)

My latest first aid renewal (a few weeks ago) say the way to deal with snake bites now is to initially bandage the bitten area (an inch or so on either side), then cut that, and start from the bottom of the limb - fingers/toeas and work up as far as possible (if ur bitten on the torso, then good luck).  and yes, then minimal movement due to venom travelling up the lymphatic system.

you can freak out as much as possible, ur heart can beat at 200bpm (probably resulting in a heart attack, but hey, at least the venom didnt get you), just dont move.

you have to be careful with torniquets that you dont apply it too tightly, resulting in build up of other toxins spreading and killing you when its removed.

best thing you can get is a snake bandage (around 25-30$), which has a rectangle in another colour every 100mm or so, when you stretch it out, it forms a square, letting you now how tight to make it - worth every cent imo.  i always have one with me, but we only have to deal with slow ass tigers and copperheads down here ;).  also use this method for funnel web and mouse spider bites.

Red backs = cold compress

If you haven't doused your entire garage with pesticides yet , introduce Daddy-Long-Leg spiders (harmless to humans) to it,

These spiders kill and eat Red Back spiders (along with most other spiders), if you have a good population of Daddy-Long-Legs you will not have any Red Backs!

One of the joys of Sydney life Gav! You can't prevent them - pretty much need pest treatment every year. Professional treatment will get rid of most of the issue.
