Old Man Z Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Maybe Mazda will beat Nissan at its home game? cracker 1 Quote
260DET Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 The RX7 has always been a great sports car, except for the engine, so Mazda can do the job. This will be interesting providing it's a proper sports car and not some battery powered thing. Quote

This will be interesting providing it's a proper sports car and not some battery powered thing. The engine is my favorite part of mine. I don't think we will see another Wankel powered sports car, given emissions, fuel consumption and reliability concerns (when put in the hands of the average punter who thinks oil changes are optional). If we do it will be a hybrid, that's my 2 cents. Quote
KatoKid Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I hear VW is working on a rotary, they reckon they can get it through emissions gav240z, rb240, nizm0zed and 1 other 4 Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted October 2, 2015 Moderators Posted October 2, 2015 I hear VW is working on a rotary, they reckon they can get it through emissions Very Very Funny. I suspect we have only seen the tip off the iceberg with VW emissions fiasco. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 2, 2015 Administrators Posted October 2, 2015 When you say tip of the iceberg, is that another way of saying more manufacturer's are going to be red faced or that VW's issues go even deeper than this? I actually don't think we will see another rotary powered RX-7 again, given emissions restrictions the rotary is just too inefficient in this regard and I can't see it working unless it is a range extended hybrid powered rotary/electric combo. I don't think there will be too much come from other manufacturers. The thing that is interesting is that VW in Aus have not yet responded to questions regarding the status of Aus delivered vehicles.
