Do you know if a 280zx clutch disc n basket will fit a l20b flywheel? They're easy to find. Im thinking i might try and find a l24 skyline (r30) flywheel.

I got one from Repco here in Melbourne. I just asked for a spigot bush for a 280zx. Was about $8 from memory.

I've completed the manual conversion on my car but I need an inner shift boot (the rubber that goes under the vinyl shift boot) as I'm not enjoying all the heat and fumes that comes up through the hole.

As I had to make the transmission hole a bit larger to fit the new gearbox, I'm assuming that the stock inner shift boot wont fit. Has anyone got any recommendations for a replacement part?

I skimmed through the last couple of pages and saw some questions and suggestions for cutting the trans tunnel for the manual shifter. I'll post some pictures of my conversion.

There is a picture of the auto shifter hole.

Another after I cut out hole, I used the stock manual shifter boot retaining ring to mark this hole.

Then a picture after it was all installed.

Hi Guys,

great write up, i just have a question. After completing my conversion the speedo has stopped working. The pin going into the speedo twists when manually twisting it from the gearbox, but once i plug it into the gearbox there is no movement on the speedo.

now my question is this,, does the speedo cable have to be changed too to suit a manual box???? or is something wrong with the gearbox speedo section...

hopefully someone can help, save me the drive to where i got my gearbox from....

Thanks

Maybe the speedo cable broke? Happens. As far as I'm aware there is no reason for there to be a difference between auto and manual speedo cables.

However you could check by removing the cable from the gearbox and using a drill to spin it and see if you get any reading? This would confirm cable is ok still.

There is a little 'key' (protruding bit of metal) on the pin that goes into the gearbox side. It needs to be lined up and slotted in correccly before you wind in the threaded part on the end if the cable

Bump, just in case anyone looked at this topic recently and saw the images in the original post missing. Have fixed this now.

Has anyone had to remove their dash to bolt up the peddle box? I'm finding that the top peddle box mount holesare difficult to reach.

Just swap the pedals over.

There's no need to remove the pedal box.

Hey Lurch

Did exactly that and it was easier

Cheers
