Well as posted last month I was on the hunt for a 240z.

Al helped me search and up popped one which after an inspection and a drive I immediately placed a deposit on and picked up yesterday afternoon! I'm over the moon and can't thank Al enough for helping me find one and to the previous owner for making the transaction so easy!

Spec: 1971 Datsun 240z, L24, Dellorto triples, flat top pistons, bigger cam list goes on. Some of you may recognize it I'm sure.

Hopefully get roadworthy done this week, then club plates whaoooooo can't wait!

Looks very clean!!! Be interested to know what the performance/power output was like with those upgrades... Basically the same list of things I am planning on doing with my 240z/L24

Very nice looking 240z mate.

What's the rule down in Melb regarding driving around town with historic/club plates on non event days ? I know in NSW you can't drive unless there's an event on

In autralia u cant drive the classic cars daily?

Yes but most choose not to, and go on historic registration. Which allows limited use at discounted registration cost.

I see..in malaysia any cars above 25 years are able to go for classic status. Paying only 20% of the road tax depending on the engine size. But only if the car is 100% original. No modifications is allowed.

Well done and congrats! Looks like a nice 240 with the special front grille!

With the club reg, you can use it for anything as long as its written in the log book! As long as you are not making money from it like wedding hire, taxi etc...

What a great idea, the event use only is a PITA. I want the freedom to just decide to go for a drive when ever I want, so I run full NSW rego.

Thanks everyone. It passed RWC last week and is now on Club Permit.

As stated, yes you can drive on club permit plate anytime, but it's limited use. You must record all drives in a log book and if pulled over and its not entered you either loose the permit or heavily fined. All eligible clubs are listed on the Vic Roads website.

She's been a blast to drive so far. Needs a good tune as running super rich. Hope to meet some of you at an event sometime soon in Melbourne when the weather is kinder.

Yeah, that would indeed be a help.

You may get a few requests for help from fellow forum members in VIC  ;)
