reverendzed Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Positive outcome in getting the report despite the excuses, you handled it well. Quote
luvemfast Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Wow....... Just had a read through this post. All I can say is WOW! Dodged a bullet here mate. I'd even go as far to report it to the cops, to see if there's a common theme with this guy. This is not KOSHER! It's just pure luck, chance and coincidence that you managed to keep it under your ownership here. Happy you didn't lose it mate. Quote
Scoota G Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Perhaps he had planned to have the car stolen. Quote
Graedat Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Thats what I reckon Scoota, sounds all a little planned to me. The spare keys werent under the visor or seat were they? Dodgy dick head! Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted January 7, 2015 Moderators Posted January 7, 2015 Perhaps he had planned to have the car stolen. Have to agree, sounds rather sus to me. Just glad the car is safely back in your garage. Could have been so so much worse. Good luck sorting out the list. Cheers PB Quote
Riceburner Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Who are going with for the club reg? I'd be interested to hear what the process is Quote
Agno Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Hey Gareth, I'm assuming Gav would be registering his car for club plates with NDSOC. I can't really comment much on their process and requirements for club plates because honestly I don't know and anything I could say would be heresay. All clubs will soon move to a more stringent formula for club reg vehicles in the next few months as the AOMC and Vicroads are looking to close the bus sized gaps created by "safety inspections" which can be conducted in lieu of a RWC under the current club plate scheme. If you (or anyone else) have any questions about the club reg process (or the proposed changes) I'm happy to answer any questions in my capacity as a club secretary for a Vicroads accredited car club. Gordo Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Gav, this is unbelievable . So lucky mate. I can't believe this guy has talked his way around it. Very Suss. I agree with Scoota, was set up to be stolen. There is no way you would lock the gates and not put you car in. It would only take two mins to put it in. If he has other workers this is inexcusable !!! Quote
chris240 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Perhaps he had planned to have the car stolen. Yep. This should have been a 2-3hr job, tops ! I wouldnt dream of leaving my worst 80s pushbike overnight on a sydney street let alone a 240z. In 9 years of zed ownership Ive never left my zed overnight anywhere other than my own house and the zed roadtrips to Thredbo. Go buy a lottery ticket Gav. Quote

Thanks Agno, It's kind of why I asked as everyone I asked got those 'inspections'. Yep. This should have been a 2-3hr job, tops ! The more you think about it the more something seems a little wrong. Surely he would've driven out past when he locked up the business? Quote
charleszed Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Im not suprised by this story, There is a serious problem with the attitude of some... alot of mechanics and paint shops these days, Where are the decent guys that care about their industry and really take their job seriously... im yet to find one in Brisbane... sadly. :-\ any numbers and contacts will be greatly appreciated. Z Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Try SMART Automotive In Stafford Charliezed. He's old school mechanic and looks after plenty of zeds. Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Back in the 90's I dropped my zed off at a gearbox place to fix the synchros on second gear. When I went back to pick it up, it was outside in the car park. just off the road. I went in and settled up the bill and asked for the keys. The reply was, they are in the car. Walk out to the car in the car park, and there they are in the ignition, car not locked, for anybody walking by to steal. Was not impressed either. Quote

Agree - Jim @ SMART Automotive is good call in Brisbane, had 20 years of "good experiences" with him & my zed's... Gav, Have a rear bumper if you get totally stuck... Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 7, 2015 Author Administrators Posted January 7, 2015 Gav, Have a rear bumper if you get totally stuck... I really only need 1 as a temporary measure for road worthy, although I don't think it's strictly needed (I passed last time without it) I do want to refit 1 anyway for the minimal protection it offers. But I need to get it on before the end of next week... Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 7, 2015 Author Administrators Posted January 7, 2015 Who are going with for the club reg? I'd be interested to hear what the process is I might start a thread, but each club may have it's own rules etc.. I did ask the NDSOC a while back and it was all a bit too hard basket. As in minimum req. number of club meetings to attend etc.. Since I'm in Sydney it's not possible for me to attend. So for now I've joined the Nissan Car Club of Australia. (Cost $50 for single) http://www.nissancarclub.org.au/Content/?c=45 Spoke to Aiden Peart, he said he can inspect the vehicle for safety and then sign off on it and along with your application form here (which he also has to sign): https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/~/media/files/formsandpublications/registration/club_permit_application.ashx?la=en I told him I'm already getting it inspected by an authorised vic roads workshop (although they may be authorised they are slightly callous with your property based on this thread ). He said that's fine, and if I get a Road Worthy Cert via them then I can post it to him along with the application and he can sign it and post it back. But I'll probably drop into his workshop if I have the paperwork ready which is Robert Cooper Motors. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=Robert+Cooper+Motors to save on postage time and so I can go direct from there to VicRoads to get my CH plates. FYI: Ashley at Moorabbin Auto Spares has apparently set up a club with a few other mates and can help with CH plates also. He told me a while back he had a few friends with old rotaries etc.. and they wanted to get their cars on CH plates. But I didn't think he had it organised yet. Quote
