JonnoDe Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Your car looks amazing. I really like the muscle car look the Ks have. Reminds me of Mazda rx3s Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 28, 2014 Administrators Posted September 28, 2014 Must be excited, I see you've even put the skyline 1/4 badge on. They look awesome in Silver, too many are white . Although I'd be tempted to go red also, since they are very rare in that colour. Rare in any colour these days I guess also. Funny how the firewall has that same X in it that the 240z's do. I wonder why they were pressed like that? Strength? Quote

Yes for strength, putting a swage or fold in a material increases its strength, having them in an X shape provides strength in both directions Quote

Hokin Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Hi Scott, that looks incredible. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out mate. Good luck. Quote
600Z Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 And I have to agree with all the previous comments on here about your car and workmanship, amazing work I'm very impressed and can't wait to see the finished product. But only question I have is when are you starting mine lol Justin Quote
d3c0y Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 What's the deal with your wheel arches? They have some sort of weird lip on them yet the holes for the flares have been drilled? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 16, 2015 Administrators Posted April 16, 2015 What's the deal with your wheel arches? They have some sort of weird lip on them yet the holes for the flares have been drilled? Believe flares are being fitted and the lip is probably a guide point for fitting them, rather than just hacking up the guards and leaving a rough edge. Quote
d3c0y Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Oh so it's just a line drawn with a sharpie? It looks like it went in and had some kind of fold there, optical illusion. Now cut those suckers off and do it properly! Quote
scott Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 I have a long list of people who want stuff done haha. The line is a factory line on gtr's as seen here. I have gone to alot of detail and copied this technique. Most people just hack and weld and be done with it. I even made a new inner arch to match the quarter Quote
d3c0y Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Aahuh! I didn't think it was just a drawn on line lol. Epic work recreating that detail, I can appreciate the work that went into it! At least someone noticed your efforts! Quote
scott Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 i went a little ocd with this but worth it i think. Got some parts back from Hydro blaster today Rest of the bushes Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted April 19, 2015 Moderators Posted April 19, 2015 OCD - not at all, they look fantastic. Really looking forward to seeing how this all comes together. Cheers PB Quote
scott Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 I enjoy working on cars and enjoy seeing the final product at the end. Weekends effort Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 30, 2015 Administrators Posted May 30, 2015 Nice, did you repaint the carbs that silver colour or just water blast them to clean them up nicely? How did you get all the fasteners, screws, bolts, linkages yellow zinc/chromate plated and keep everything in order? Or didn't you bother trying to keep everything in order? This is the only reason I haven't yet disassembled mine after ordering a rebuild kit from ZTherapy, also wondering if you opted to re-bush the throttle shafts? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 30, 2015 Administrators Posted May 30, 2015 Oh and by the way does anyone know what the screwable piece on the balance tube is for? It has an adjustment screw on it that controls how much air is sucked in, I've got 1 on my 240z and someone a while ago told me they were good to have. I'm not sure if it has any benefit so was thinking of removing it, I can't help but think it's part of some emission control system from later S30z's like 260z onward? Quote
