  1. Well, today was a very special day for me...... With some help from my brother, I managed to drop in the PMC powerplant !
  2. I have a 280ZX standard coil. PM me if interested.
  3. Yeah, the 4 to 5 stud adapters are rare and more pricey. Adelaide Tyre Power had this issue many years ago with my Z. They ordered 66.1mm hub bore adapters front and rear for wheels they were going to fit to the car. When they realised the 66.1 adapters didn't fit on the fronts due to the wrong data in their books, they simply added a 5mm wheel spacer between the hub and the adapter to make the adapter clear. I didn't realise they did this till much later. Dodgey bumbs...... I think if you take a couple of mm off the hub you will be better off than I was with Adelaide Tyre Power.
  4. Why not just get spacers that are the correct hub bore size? Do you really want to take the risk of machining hubs or spacers? A pair should cost around $100. Also ensure that the spacer has a wheelcentric lip.
  5. That's the way to do it! NICE.....
  6. Good luck with your build. She looks nice and clean
  7. Nice work Who did you get to build your engine in the end?
  8. Let's not let this thread end here! Too much yet to clear up. What other "bolt on" brake upgrades are there for rear? How well do they stop compared to each other and which have handbrake issues. Also, which brake combinations do and do not require a proportioning valve? From what I have understood so far, the list for rear starts with stock drums, 280ZX disk, R31 disk, R32, 300ZX, AZ Car Wilwoods. Surley R31 disks would be a HUGE improvement over stock drums. I doubt whether you would feel the need to upgrade again Mick.
  9. I have a good used clutch mc from a 260z. Will that work?
  10. Johnny, I have a round top SU air filter box you can borrow and return back to me when you upgrage to your godzilla powerplant. It has an air filter in it aswell.
  11. You won't consider fender mirrors?
  12. Yeah Bluerat, long story involving $$$ and lack there of...... Essentially they are the same as the Z box with with slightly taller 1st and 2nd gears. It's very smooth to change gears too.
  13. Thanks boys. I am going to ignore these wires and whatever use a 240K has for them, my Zed won't. Well, everything has been assembled now. The engine will be going in next week. Added some extreme makeover style pics.
  14. So glad you are going ahead with this project. It will be amazing! I want to see this car haul arse on the race track when complete.
  15. NEED HELP: I have 2 pairs of wires coming out of the right side of my manual 240K gearbox. I know one pair is for the reverse light. This goes to the engine bay loom. I don't know what the other wires are for and cannot even remember if I had them hooked up. Could this be a feature of a 240K not used in the Zed?? Pics of your Zed in this general area would be very useful.
  16. Since you are no longer running the PCV system, just have the rocker cover breather and block vented to the atmosphere. The neatest way is to run both hoses to an oil catch can that is vented to the atmosphere.
  17. Or get a carbon fiber bonnet and then no $$$ and time spent on painting. I am considering this but still undecided.
  18. Hi Chris, As you know, there are many different options for running fuel lines to triples. With or without the SU fuel rail, with or without a return line, in series or from a fuel block. You are really only limited by your imagination. Here is a link with plenty of options. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=5997.0 I also came across some additional pictures when I did my own research recently. I am going with the first option for my Z.
  19. It's getting very close now. Refurb alternator mounted. Intake and exhaust back on......
  20. Hehehe........OUCH
  21. At least it doesn't have a sunroof :'(
  22. Nice spoiler. I want one...... Nice triples too. PM me if you need muscle with moving engine.
  23. Hi Peter. The standard L26 pistons are slightly dished. Not as much dish as the L28 dished pistons, but not flat like L24's either. If it was a standard reco. it probably hasn't got new flattops in it. Do what Dat2kman suggests to confirm. Standard you have 8.3 to 1 compression and with flattops you will only get 9.3 to 1 compression. If your aim it to get to 9.5 to 10 then some shaving will also be needed. Would you consider L28?
