  1. Well I'm no idea about some of the technical stuff mentioned I have front offset bump steer spacers, rear delrin bushes, it as low as legally possible. The car is very neutral at the moment, no understeer, not twitchy at all. does that help? Lol. I was looking at some pics and saw the car had heaps of roll, both inside wheels were completely unloaded. I was thinking stiffer bars would reduce roll and give more grip from the inner wheels. How do you calculate the spring rates are too far apart?
  2. Hey guys, looking for opinions on sway bar combo's for a 240 track car, ride harshness is no issue. I currently have 23mm front with 340 lb springs and 18mm rear with 220lb. I'll be upgrading to 280lbs in rears soon and will strengthen the front sway bar mount points. Run 16x8's with 225 semi's. I'm looking go bigger as I feel its still got too much roll. Im considering 1 1/8" front and 7/8" rear (29+23mm) commonly used on imsa gtu cars and the 46bre Datsun. It's also listed in the Datsun hot rod and race book as a suggested sizing. What do you think? Is there anyone in Australia with these sizes? Thanks, Gareth.
  3. Good work Chev, how was the difference going from semi's to full slicks?
  4. Thanks for the extra info Alan, I understand the pricing now. I've never looked so streamlined Simon! I may have to move the seat a bit closer to the wheel/pedals
  5. Great work John. The added stiffness to chassis will transform how the car feels. I couldn't believe the difference after fitting the 6point bolt in cage, even putting around town. Probably a silly question as you seem to have thought of everything.... will all engine/driveline components be individually removeable for servicing or replacement while leaving the companion chassis in place?
  6. Pretty lucky escape there Whittie, especially at track speeds. I do recall seeing a beautiful Yellow Alfa gtv break a T/C rod in targa, sent him off into the shrubs and trashed the car. The T/C kits come with a measuring gauge to ensure the bushes are not overtightened and allow enough movement to prevent flexing the rods. I ran urethane for around 7-8 years, it was one of the first mods I did to the car when I got it, T/C rod bushes as well.... Maybe it was just luck that mine survived. I've never really paid that much attention to them, but I think from now on I'll be removing before events and checking them for straightness, twisting, corroision, streching of thread. It's the first I've heard of it on a zed, could it just be 30+yrs of stress and fatigue... Corrosion?
  7. Oh yeah, I had forgotten bout that dimitri. Let me know when its good to pop over
  8. Thanks, I already have offset bump steer spacers that give more neg camber too, do Arizona do just the short steering arm alone? Thanks I've seen those Mossy, $300 seems a bit steep I think arizona's spacer type are half the cost. Motorsport auto has new ones for $275? I might email Arizona and see if they do just the short arm with no spacer
  9. Does anyone have these fitted, are they a worthwhile mod to a mostly track oriented car? Harder parking isn't really an Issue.
  10. That was quick John! I think they'll finish off your front end very nicely. Once you get them I'd be interested to hear what you think is the best way to fit them. Any info will be appreciated
  11. Thanks guys. I'm going white top half and BMW 087 metallic charcoal on the lower piece and bumper. I have a small spoiler but may not use it as I'm running quite low already. Dimitri, I think the cars in those pics have the works type B kit on them, a similar spoiler is available to run with or without the flares. Z car customs has a similar one. I hope the 5mph top speed story is true! Lol
  12. Have been fiddling around with panels and the new front end a bit, It's certainly not perfect as the ricey isn't the squarest.... Anyway just a few teasers. It's only a few panels bolted on so far, although I am surprised it not as much work as I thought it would be. Famous last words.......
  13. Nice work guys, love the wheels... What type are you running?
  14. They'll fit, I run the same size/offset. Had to roll rear guard lips to run 225 semi's but was ok with 215 road tyres
  15. Ooooh and the total height of them, I have a narrow gap in which mine fit. Thanks Ash.
  16. Like the black too Dave, what's the offset on those? They appear to have a decent amount of dish
  17. Added link above. 1600/510 are the same kit as 240z.
  18. Hey Jim, I've gone the solid front t/c kit(from ebay). These are supposed to stop castor change under braking/cornering by eliminating any compression in the bush. My brother runs them in his daily 1600 and thinks they're good also. We both found less wandering when braking and more direct steering particularly while cornering, with no added harshness. I guess it may be over kill for a daily, kinda depends on what driving you will do. Track, daily, weekender? Check these out... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-510-610-710-T-C-Kit-2851610-G-Machine-/260818285606?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cb9fb3426
  19. Looking good Roberto! Are those 100mm ram tubes from efi hardware? If so you'll find them a very close fit to the strut tower and standard size battery. I ran them on a redline manifold and it was tight but still had 25-35mm clearance to the strut tower, which is fine and won't harm flow. It's going to look great when finished and go damn hard, keep up the good work Roberto and Pete
  20. I was thinking the dimmer would be run inline with all the instrument lights, but you could be right Linton. I can't actually remember if it was connected. Im useless with electrics
  21. Hi guys, I've had my speedo out for a while as I've reset it to start from zero with the new motor Now it's been a while since I looked at it and I can't work out what the two wires connect to on the top of it? I also noticed a small pin(looks like it might drive something) above the main needle in the centre, any ideas? The more I look at it the more confused I get
  22. I don't think I put the price up, whoops. Bonnet is $200, but pick up only at this stage.
  23. SU's SOLD Bonnet and extractors still available
  24. Front diff mount? Check the studs on the rear too, the nuts on mine come loose sometimes.
