  1. Interesting..it looks we may finally a national standard that would be good... it looks like my information is out of date ( just like peter Allen). Sounds like you have the right engineer on the job...I believe that a few years ago there was a shakeup with the engineering signatories and they all had to re apply for status. I'll have good look through what I have here to see if any thing turns up. Good luck....does this mean that I might see your car some time when I'm driving through Singleton? Pete
  2. Hi Wally...this does't address your request for documentation but it might help . In 1973 ADR 24 was introduced which relates to a tyre placard being fitted to all new cars. In the attached link VS9 .... the standards are explained. You can go one inch wider without worrying about any thing .... then depending on the vehicle weight and the wheel width stated on the tyre placard ( if it's still fitted ) you can go beyond that with an engineers certification. I don't know that it's wheel bearing size as much as legislation. According to this document, a 240Z built in 1972 can have seven inch wheels fitted but a 1973 car , with the same wheel bearings can only go to six and a half inches. Now that makes sense!!!! I spoke to the RTA technical people about it a few years ago and I was told that they are only guidelines.....maybe the guidelines have become law since then. Perhaps you should ring the RMS technical people and ask them the question. If all that is correct, seven inch wide for your car is within these guidelines. 3. Peter...if you're referring to the three captive nuts, I just had a look at mine and they are M5 X 0.8
  4. Fancy washing machine ...... Have to keep the kerosene up to the fridge as well .... but I am pleased that I found a home for the spring
  5. I found it...fuel door...it was in the other shed where the car is....the very tidy one....
  6. I agree Peter...and some where in there is a, NOS, never fitted to a machine, Hepworth hydraulic copy turning attachment to fit a Cholchester lathe.
  7. Thanks... yep I had a look too...not the door handle...oh dear the washing machine again....
  8. Thank you...there must be another one as well....time to have a BIG clean out....bits of machinery are breeding in the shed.
  9. As the title suggests..... it is in with a box of z parts and I can't figure out where it came from...a Peter Allen moment maybe Can any one help?
  10. Both items now sold. Thank you Peter
  11. Alternator is sold.
  12. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic10l/12-4068 This is the unit...rated at 60 amps
  13. Alternator upgrade came from MSA but in the interest of originality I have decided to use a rebuilt original unit instead. Comes complete with the adapter supplied by MSA . Has never been fitted to a car. Asking price $160.00. SOLD R200 moustache bar came with the car and is no longer needed. I loaded the bushes and while there is no cracking, the inner sleeve separated under load ( see photo ) so I consider that they need replacing. Asking price $50.00 SOLD They are located in Tamworth but I may be heading to Sydney in the next month.
  14. Found this in the RHD parts manual under touch up paint....shows 907 up to 08/71 also asked the parts man at my local dealer if he can find any thing...he's been very helpful in the past.... I had these in landscape when I added them...can you rotate them Gav ??
  15. http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/colour_swatch_datsun_1973.php perhaps 003 was the dark green code here and not 907??
  16. That's all I have......some of the colours don't have the Datsun colour code next to them...perhaps they might be the ones.... This was done by Dulux Australia so I guess the colours were all used here at some time.
  17. I didn't hide it as well as the colour formula that I had done locally for my hubcaps etc....luckily A friend in Canberra had the original and copied those pages when I bought the Z that I have now...he highlighted 112 which was the colour of the 240z that I bought in 1973. I've asked him to try and find the document and send me all the Datsun pages.
  18. This might be of some interest...an old Dulux colour guide from 1974. I only have a copy of the cover and one page of Datsun colours...it covers the whole Datsun range not just 240Z's
  19. poor old Peter Allen......why all the fuss...after all we are living in the 20th century are we not??? Peter.....
  20. Hi Sandy I might be able to help .....Just spoke to my neighbor who is a retired auto electrician.....( a lot of retired people around here)..the "P" terminal is for phase...used sometimes to drive a tacho....no need to worry about it, just ignore it. What you have been supplied LOOKS LIKE an alternator with an inbuilt voltage regulator..can any one else verify that.... if it is, and you intend to use it you will need to bypass the external regulator. I bought a similar unit from MSA and they supplied an adapter to bypass the old regulator which is a plug with a bridge in it to make the warning light work. Hope this is of some help.....I haven't used mine and have decided not to in the interest of originality......so I'll be selling the new alternator and adapter that I have here.... if any one sees this and is interested, let me know, otherwise I'll advertise it. 21. This post may be in the wrong place by now.... after posting the paint formula that I have for the air cleaner ( I had an aerosol can mixed ) I painted a test piece to compare to an original part. It came out a bit darker. The original air cleaner from my car has been blasted and primed and the unit that I compared it to is one that I bought from some one else. I recall painting a test piece at the time and it was a good match for my original. Any paint experts out there have any ideas?? the paint has been in the spray can for a few years. If you are going to use the formula be careful Pete
  22. Thanks Alan..I found the website....i'll look further..
  23. Hi Alan...can I ask what type of material they are? Peter
