  1. Holly and I will be at Morgan park for the sprints on Sunday hopefully in the S15. Is anyone stopping in at T-bar on the way through?
  2. Hurry up with the photos already!!
  3. Has noone had a slash at Queensland Raceway (aka QLD paperclip )?
  4. I will hopefully be picking my L28 up this weekend after being in a hayshed for 15 odd years. Its a F54/N42 combo out of a patrol. I plan to overbore .040" and use my LD28 crank with L24 rods but hopefully use Z22S pistons to obtain a capacity of 2960cc (I'm trying to stay under 3000cc). These pistons have a pin height of 35.00mm and a 9cc dish (correct me if I'm wrong ). These would need to be flycut by about 1.6mm to obtain zero deck height and hopefully this would be enough remove the dish to give flat tops (rough calcs give CR of 10.45:1 on a standard 88mm HG). I've read on the ozdat forums about some guys flycutting L series pistons by up to 3mm which gave me this idea. I'm ignoring the effect of cam lift and valve recessing for the time being. I am trying to obtain a sample piston to find the thickness of the crown and if the dish can be machined out. Does anyone know if this can or can't be done or is it kinda uncommon? I welcome criticism also
  5. Good rolling shells are out there. My mate just picked one up for $1000 and all its missing is motor and drivetrain!! I think he plans on substituting an L4 for the U20.
  6. I'm paying keen attention to this project log! I've had rust in almost all the same spots you have! I haven't fixed all mine yet as I wasn't sure how to approach some spots....this will do as a guide though
  7. I love these kind of work logs! Shows off people's various talents and ingenuity. It'll be interesting to see how this manifold turns out on many levels. Are you re-drilling the bosses at the existing injector location or are you moving the injectors?
  8. That looks quite nice! I can remember Queen St from my ricer boy days (a long long time ago in a car scene far far away) on the front of Hot4s etc. with their trademark pink. They've always done an outstanding job. Looking forward to seeing the results.
  9. I'm liking what you've done with the bum end! Good luck with the build and keep the log updated for our sake
  10. I don't know if its old news to you guys, but you made it to the '370 reasons to Z" newsletter. Nice work!
  11. Not too long now! I'm almost counting the "sleeps".
  12. That wasn't the skid pan thats set up at drift practice nights was it? If it was, thats the first drift practice I missed in a long time and a zed was on the pan. Shame on me!
  13. Do bolt on ZG flares count as body modifications when it comes down to class or is it down to scrutineers at individual events and what they will tolerate? I don't want to be putting them on and find out I can't enter Leyburn or get put in the open class when I know there is a deffinate yes/no answer.
  14. Snap! I didn't see that, thanks for pointing it out
  15. Perhaps these people are the kind of people that are alive simply because it is illegal to kill them? Anywho, it's not a good thing to happen and I'm sure karma will sort them out eventually. If it were me, I'd use it as an excuse for an engine conversion or something distantly related to bodywork....
  16. 1'02"!! Didn't the Hi Octane Time Attack GTR do a 58" and it had 700+whp on a japanese dyno? Thats really quick and still and L series, thats awesome! That car is inspiration right there and I want his rear flares! Love the translator
  17. I have the exact same CRS kit sitting will all the other crap (read: infrastructure) I've accumulated and having a tailshaft would be handy. Saves having to get a spline and someone to make one up.
  18. Are you interested in parting with just the tailshaft?
  19. I'll be getting my sleeve kit, springs and shocks for the 260 from Express Engineering (at mate's rates). His main supplier of the kits was all spares (I think!) and they went belly up so he's had to find a new wholesaler for ones who have an all steel kit. I only have a mig and I hear aluminium sleeve kits bind up from oxidisation over time due to the tight tolerences if left for a period of time (don't quote me on that).
  20. Is there still an injection manifold for sale?
  21. Well I have decided against an RB30DET at this time in my life, I have a girlfriend of 5 years to marry sometime (still time to back out, I haven't proposed yet!!) and an extension to the house to do, the list goes on! Sigh! I did some maths on the parts I have and came up with this engine combo: F54 block LD28 crank L24 rods N42 head GTR +1.00 pistons (87.00mm) (30.3 pin height) 1mm head gasket to suit overbore (used 89mm bore for calcs) Swept cyl. capacity = (8.7^2*Pi/4*8.3) = 493.4cc Piston to deck = 207.87-83/2-133-30.3 = 3.07mm below deck Available compression capacity = swept capacity + 44.6cc (head) + 6.5 (HG) - 16.3 (piston dome) = 528.2cc Compressed capacity = 44.6 + 6.5 + 18.25 (piston to deck capacity) -16.3 = 53.05cc Gives a C/R = 528.2/53.05 = 9.9566:1 basically a bee's dick from 10:1 Dome protrusion above deck = 207.87-83/2-133-30.3-3.48 = 0.41mm above deck which *should* provide enough clearance for valve train components. This would keep the capacity under 3000cc to keep the car in the same category and other L series zeds at sprints. I think with a matched cam and head work to allow peak breathability, it would be quite a rocket engine. Anyone have any thoughts?
  22. So the general consensus is the Excel front bar is a no no
  23. Looks mean thats for sure! Though I've always been keen to know how a 1.5 sets of silver top 4AGE throttle bodies on a custom intake manifold would go.......
  24. I had an R33 but sold it just before I bought the house, good car and I should never have got rid of it but thats life for you. Check the link....same number plates....nothing suss...haha! http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2510.msg19361.html#msg19361 I forgot to mention I also have an R33 RB25DET VCT head sitting with all the Rb20 stuff. After checking NCOP section LA and a 2+2 weighs 1190kg approx, that means a total forced induction capacity of 1190 x 3.0 = 3570cc so I could very well fit a RB30DET in...... What to do, what to do......
