  1. Hey guys can we start a "JOKE OF THE DAY" thread please ........ well i just did I will start and continue til someone helps me out. I thought this one would be quite funny atm. ************************************************************************ How many forum members does it take to change a light bulb? 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently 1 to move it to the Lighting section after 2 have argued to move it to the Electricals section 7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs 5 to flame the spell checkers 6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp" 15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct 19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum 11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum 36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what supermarkets are offering discounts on brands of light bulbs, and what customer service they expect in a lightbulb shop 4 to say that they've been disappointed in Lightbulb Live for the last 4 years 12 to ask why those 4 keep going to Lightbulb Live only to complain about it 1 to break the news about the new limited release light bulb 1 to post that the news was already broken in another thread and start a poll about reading entire threads 12 to post that they shouldn't mention limited releases because someone might buy them to resell 1 to insist he has every right to buy and sell lightbulbs 1 to obsessively insist that no-one should make profit from lightbulbs on this forum 5 to post that they've collected 11 of the limited edition lightbulbs already so might as well get the whole set. 32 to not bother posting because there's no post count showing anymore 8 to say that their electric company sent them 4 free lightbulbs, when quite clearly they would have preferred the moon on a stick. 6 to post thinly veiled criticisms of forum staff's management of lightbulbs 15 to post that forum staff can do exactly as they want with their own lightbulbs 6 to pretend they were just asking innocent questions about lightbulb management and didn't do anything wrong 1 to ask that forum staff backup all mention of lightbulbs so they can write a book about their really interesting life with lightbulbs 11 to reply that it's not a personal lightbulb anecdote storage facility 7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs 4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's 13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including pictures, and add "Me too" 5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy 4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" 13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs" 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.
  2. I would just keep them than give them away with the car, as it is already hard enough to re-coupe $$ spent on the car. If you advertise them here im sure someone would pick them at over the next six months.
  3. I shall PM you his number, tell him Glen told you to ring to discuss a possible motor build. http://www.len-brennan.com.au/ Edit, i only have his home number atm and i wont spread that around. Gimme a day or 2 and i shall get his mobile for you.
  4. Depending on your time frame is a main factor to recommending Len. Len's building me a L28, he's good but depending on his business work schedule he can be slow. My motor has been with him for 2 months, he's not quick but he doesn't charge the normal rate either. He knows the motors inside and out plus i don't mind the anticipation. I was in the same boat as you i wanted to keep my L26 but finding some Flattops for it i had no success. Motor being built will have the following Flattops 10/1 comp Lightened and balanced crank and fly. Crank, fly and clutch will be balanced together. Conrods weighted and balanced Head work including inj chambers welded but no porting. 72 degree cam Special 8 inch harmonic balancer going on. Block and head hot bathed Block went in for shot peening and checked for straightness along with the head. Also (don't quote me as I'm not 100% on my wording) something about an adjustable cam gear to get the cam exactly right with the valves. Aiming for 130rwkw and the overall build im looking at around 3-4.5k Thats including 40mm dellortos and exedy ceramic clutch. If you do the math he doesnt charge that much for his labour.
  5. Nice reuslts there Alan, thanks for the update. 125rwkw's is still nothing to be sneezed at. What were you torque figures like?

  7. I never had any problems with microtech, infact i would say they are easily the best bang for buck. I built up a turboed MX5 and went with a LT8s. I was making good power from low boost 126rwkw from 5 pound. The guy that bought the car off me has since developed the car further but still staying with the microtech. He is now on 132rwkw @ 6.5 pound but once he gets the dump/exhaust sorted will see 150rwkw's. The LT series (8,10 and 12) can easily handle a turbo circuit car. IIRC a LT12s (6 cycl) sells for $1495 which is bloody good. If your clever you can buy the handcontroller for $200 and tune it your self. I know quite a few other cars running microtechs with impressive results and no problems with reliabilty either. I felt i should correct misleading information regarding microtech, im sure you know how that feels Lurch
  8. Another one to the Vics
  9. PM sent
  10. clutch and brake pedal set http://cgi.ebay.com.au/datsun-260z-clutch-and-break-pedal-set_W0QQitemZ320329957805QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item320329957805&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 item No. 320329957805
  11. Im over insurance, i pay $551 for both my cars, $10,000 agreed on the Z and $9,000 agreed on the Landcruiser. But lets look at the finer details, im 35, have never had any of my cars stolen or broken into, my cars are always under cover, i've never claimed for my own car in a accident because i havent had to. I hardly ever drive my Z as a daily driver, i will be using it mostly on the track from now on where insurance becomes completely irrelevent, My landcruiser im not that fussed about scratches/dents. Its primary use is for work and 4wd. Its a big car, and the way cars are built today if someone ran into me at slow speed id hardly feel it. Also where i live it isnt exactly the city traffic down here. And to top all this off my mate has almost identical cars to me and pays half that amount through shannons, admitting he is 6-7 years older. Now shall we add up how much i have spent on insurance over the years, it would almost be enough to buy another car right now or a holiday! For what? so i can sleep easier at night saying yer....i'm fully insured. Monday im ringing up and finding the cheapest 3rd party insurance for both my cars.
  12. I have to say i used to always go to caltex, then i decided to go to BP for a change, i got a quite a few more KLM's out of my cars.... They have proven on some of those current affair shows that not all the company's are the same. Anyone using caltex try a different company. I will never go back there.
  13. have a safe one guys
  14. dont suppose you can remember what season and episode number that was?
  15. Thanks for the offer Sulio, see how it goes.
  16. Hi sulio, there will do for me time being but if it was my permant setup then i wouldnt recomend it as there is some funny hesitation going on like its flooding but it does clear. They are running much better since i put the manifold back on but i wouldnt say this combination is all that great either.
  17. Im expecting 3-4k for the motor and we are expecting around 125-135rwkw's running 10-1 comp with the right headwork done. It's not over the top power and should suit 40mm dellorto's nicely, i hope that helps. BTW his hourly labour rate is 1/2 of a engine builders workshop. He does the motor in his spare time. Its more of a hobby for Len.
  18. thats ok its christmas
  19. Sulio i should be expecting it back from lens late jan early feb, As far as head work goes i would have to ask him next time im out there. If your ever down my way we could go have a chat to him. Then you could get some real answers instead of me guessing. Lurch are you talking about my motor or Sulio's?? i have only mentioned the price on parts and nothing to do with a total price.
  20. Very important to replace the oil, i think you can use tranny oil iirc, Its about the same weight, but double check that first. You can use different needles aswell depending on what condition your motor is in. I have read that SM needles give a nice performance boost.
  21. You just pulled my head out of the sand its closer to $1500 Oil Pump...Hi-Volume A$137.00 Cam Shaft A$130.00 Timing Chain Kit L28 A$110.00 Bearings Main Set L28 A$89.00 Piston Set 6 Cyl 86/87mm Flat Top A$244.00 Water Pump A$69.00 Clutch Exedy sports tuff Ceramic A$340.00 Gaskets/spark plugs/ oil/ coolant etc A$200.00 Oil Cooler/hoses/plate-adapt etc A$200.00 Im sure there will be other things to like buying the right chokes/jets for the carbys. You dont have to get stuff like new water pump but if everything is done right i mis well finish it off properly. Im aiming for a good club car. Not a race car and not a street car. I bought some 2inch SU's just incase im completely out of funds and cant setup the triples properly. But im sure i will find the $$$, Men with a mission always do
  22. well im having a coffee after getting the wakeup call at 6am lol Instead of reading the paper i read the forums Now, personally i would pull them down, make sure your needles are nice and straight, springs are in good order and then buy some carby cleaner. Clean everything you can. Then reassemble and make sure the piston returns with a clunk in each carby. They should return at about the same rate aswell. here a link for you to read it's all i could find. http://www.jetlink.net/~okayfine/su/rebuild.html
  23. I ended going 72 for 2 reasons, 40mm dellortos and because thats what len is using. I told him 74 originally but he must have forget, no big deal i can go 74 later on if i choose to. I like to think of it as a bit of a upgrade. Sulio dont forget to add a decent clutch aswell, i think i ended up looking at 1K in bits and pieces for the motor. hopefully we will all have new motors at the same time
  24. Amen
  25. Len Brenan molds them aswell.
