  1. After a nice waiting period, on the back of a trailer my long awaited "healthy" L24 arrived! Now the fun of an engine swap has to be done again for the fourth time. With a long list of mods, it will be interesting to see the dyno results with no real over the top modifications. Just a pic of the engine sitting on the floor for the moment next to it's patient. I've missed the sound of a good lumpy L series engine...
  2. Just took delivery today of my "healthy" L24 so I'll do my best to attend..
  3. Excellent Simon...when can I pick them up?
  4. From what I've been told, its 75db at 30 meters? Usually the sound guy is at the edge of the track measuring so it sounds about right.
  5. When the caliper is mounted at the 12 o'clock posi, it's much easier to hook up the handbrake cable but with it mounted at the front, I have managed to connect the cable without many issues. Just have to make a small bracket to mount the original brake cable outer at 90' to its original place where it bolts onto then make a small metal linkage to connect the cable to the hand brake arm on the caliper. If you mount the caliper towards the back, as said it fouls the strut tube. I prefer the caliper towards the front but main issue is when it comes time to bleed the brake system, you have to remove the caliper along with the disc and bleed it off the car so the nipple is the highest point. I should take detailed pics to show..
  6. I just checked my spare and it's also a right hand.... oh well..sorry!
  7. I may have one side if no one else has a pair
  8. Any road tyre will have a softer sidewall than a semi slick, so if you have 17's with a road tyre, it will be a bit firmer but no rock hard. I had 17's with semi's but with hard springs... it was great but with Melbourne's shiza roads, had to dodge large Arizona crater sized potholes if you can spot them in time...or crack your windscreen. I'd do it again, but with the biggest profile you can go to but with consideration of the rolling diameter.
  9. I think this is the bargain of the year! Good luck and I know you will sell it real quick...
  10. What everyone has and will say again! ......Happy BDay Jane..
  11. Coat the cylinders with spray/engine oil, cover the intake/exhaust ports with some good strong tape (not masking tape) and keep it dry and out of the weather..and thoroughly flush the block with water (I mean through the cooling passages) before you store it and dry it.
  12. I think like the R32 diffs, they are a "short nose" type... You will need an Arizona Z car mounts and brackets to fit...quite a few $$
  13. An almost ready to bolt in diff would be the one out of a DR30? 2 door import turbo Skyline (R31 shape). My LSD came from one of those (R200) and all you have to change is the input flange and your original output shafts fit but left/right swapped. Ratio on the auto's though is a high 4.375; great for accelaration but crap on the highway.
  14. I'm sure Don McKay owns the white 240Z...its an early one as well only a few chassis numbers away from mine!
  15. I think I have both for you...I'll check in the evening unless someone else has something sooner..
  16. Well done... great results! In the MSCA (Marque Sports Car Assoc.) down here I could've come 3rd in class...out of 3! ha Didn't do enough events!
  17. Another Welcome Ben, What we need is a zed powered by a Merlin engine if that was your plan...or at least an Allison powerplant..
  18. When you fit a Gnose, you can actually modify the original hinges to work with the new front. If you have a glass bonnet, I wouldn't install the springs...
  19. Mark, how soon do you have to pick it up? if it can wait till the weekend, I should be able to do it..
  20. Sorry, I'm still thinking with my EFi head on that! That's what I was thinking of doing with the one I had but with this model you cannot run a distributorless setup as there is no reference for cylinder #1 available. You could run this distributor with an aftermarket ECU to get the timing right.
  21. Welcome!.. and as everyone else has mentioned, nice clean zed you have!
  22. I did buy one of these off an NDSOC member a while ago when I was specifically after an optical version of this distributor. I'm sure it can be used in place of an 280ZX elec unit with just some re-wiring done. If you can figure out the wiring, you can hook up the coil to it and run the engine without the ECU it normally hooked into.
  23. I was there near my zed now and then.. Took Tim (RB30X) for a little walk around the pit area for a while then watched the racing from the display area. I had a green T-shirt on..
