  1. One good way I find hard to get bits is by politely asking members on HybridZ; the last two times I have done that, they have been extremely helpful and patient. Once I imported a complete vinyl interior for the zed and a turbo 280ZX distributor which you cannot find here at all; unless you pry it out of someones cold dead hand. Like Paul, either eBay Aust or US is a good start. edit: spelling boo boo's!
  2. +1 with the ITB's on the V8.. Once saw an ex-V8 supercar ITB manifold at GMP Products for sale...only a measly $2500; the cross over rectangular shaped one's..very nice!
  3. The head can corrode in any number of weird places...have you tried running the engine without the rad cap on? Does it erupt like Mt St Helens?
  4. Usually the Htatchi "Round top's" need a good amount of choke to get the engine to start. Are the choke cables adjusted and moving their full travel? Give them a quick spray of WD40 or similar to lube them up a bit.
  5. Welcome Luke... Great to see another zed resto; they are never boring! I'm with Paul..keep the Lime!
  6. Welcome Mick, The two terminals "B" is for positive power which normally is tapped from the 12+ from the ballast resistor (before not after it goes through the resistor; you can check with a test light which one is the supply by disconnecting one of the wires then probe with the light) and the "C" terminal is for the negative side of the coil. After this mod, you can bypass the resistor and it is preferable to run a coil from a 280ZX or what I used a coil from a mid-late 80's Pulsar.
  7. It can, but I can't guarantee it will get there undamaged. Near my work is an "Instant Windscreens" shop which allows me to get the large cardboard boxes and packing to send it but if you want to risk the transport, its yours!
  8. Just a guess but would it be a D-type Jag? I'm not too good with some old British cars..
  9. If anyone needs a screen and seal for a 240/260Z, I have them here...asking $200 for both. Screen is in excellent condition, with no major cracks/marks.. If you need a quick replacement, I have one here for you.. PM or call Oh413 two 43 76Oh
  10. Welcome Tony, Geez, what car got written off? As for a daily zed, for a budget of around $5k, you may find a roughie needing a fair bit of work unless you are happy with a 280ZX? Unless you want a 240/260Z.. Check the cars for sale section..
  11. Not as yet.... all in good time
  12. Another Welcome Shane, Welcome to the forum...... if you ever want to offload that V8 setup..let me know I may have another zed that may need that!
  13. Not as yet... still haven't even installed the new "healthy" L24 that I have rebuilt! Getting ahead of myself.
  14. Sunday is usually the best day to go I think; that's why I'm only attending Sunday.. Look for the red 240Z!
  15. I have an L24 from a member here who has done an RB conversion; if and when he sells the car and would like to pass on my details to the purchaser, I'd be happy to sell the motor back. It's just a temp motor for my zed at the moment..
  16. Is the distributor drive the spline and tongue type or standard L series tongue? Been toying with the idea of a turbo..
  17. Welcome again Marc; When you get a chance to post some pics, that would be great... Hope to see you at the next gathering..
  18. I don't think its anyone's intention to talk down the value of that particular zed, but it raises a few questions about the history of it... Like my post before about an engine swap, and where the original motor is. It may be a perfect car underneath and inside, but for that price, I would like to know everything about it and whatever history is known.
  19. Welcome... A very nice and neat zed you have!...curious to what wheel and tyre size it is running? Are they 15's? Where abouts are you located?
  20. Agree with Benny on that and also you forgot custom sump and engineers report and so on... If you are after only around 200Kw at the wheels, an L28 turbo should do that easy; I got an NA L28 up to 150Kw at the wheels with some basic mods and I think if I whacked on a turbo, it would've got heaps more. Again, I'd go for that turbo L28et in Franga...
  21. Hehehe...I picked up a heap of parts when a member here used to rally a zed and had a trailer load of bits he was going to tip unless someone came and picked it all up....you can guess what I did.. There was quite a few hard to get bits in amongst some rubbish but theres always a need for a part no matter how trivial with these zeds.
  22. I'd be asking what happened to the original L24? Where is it? why the L28? For that cash I'd be wanting the original motor, wheels, hubcaps etc as a package.
  23. If you are in Melbourne, I have one here...
  24. Still available if anyone wants it...
  25. It should be pretty easy to register as a LHD as it's older than 25 years. There are a heap of old US cars running around in LHD so it shouldn't be a problem.
