  1. It is tempting and legal to drive the zed on this cruise now...received from Vicroads the new log book scheme. But the house thing is a sort of a priority.
  2. Perfect timing again....our house is up for auction on the 5th... this is happening waaaaayyyy to often. dammit.
  3. Nothing too scary about a dashboard removal...as long as you don't find any snakes behind there, you should be fine. The loom you have to unplug on the drivers side don't bother labeling; each plug can only go back in to it's matching connector. Just be sure to remove the heater control panel first. The hardest part is undoing all those damn cable linkages!
  4. Theres your chance paintz!! go and grab it!
  5. What I tell me wife is you can have your manicures and pedicures etc....I'll get my new Watanabe wheels and Motec ECU...see it works both ways..
  6. That's what I'm crapping on about... Thanks Mark!
  7. You shouldn't need a Eng Cert for the L28 swap. I've been told that Nissan have approved the fitment of the L28 into the zed series of cars (240-260) as no modifications are necessary to fit. There has been a discussion about this on the forum before.
  8. The early hubcaps had the "D" and the later ones had the "Z". As for the build year, there has been a heap of discussion (and arguments) about whether the US market zeds were first built in 69 or the Aust. delivered zeds. Mine is number 121 and has the same body parts you mention. You should also have the choke/hand throttle on the console, cigarette lighter in the console again and the speedo that starts on 20mph just to name a few that I know of. If you can find a date stamp on a dashboard component, and PM member HS30H (hope I got it right) he can translate it to what year it was assembled.
  9. Hi all, I have a radiator for a 240Z that needs a reco here for free. If you are in Vic, please come and get it quick! Thanks PM me for details.
  10. I think the screws for #3 are M5? raised head countersunk screws.. about 15mm long. I may have some in my collection. I think the 260Z had the same screw for their consoles.
  11. Email I received from new comp sec for MSCA.. Hi Everyone, I'm writing to introduce myself as the new Competition Secretary for the MSCA and to let you know of some very important changes the Committee have agreed to for 2011. For the past 5 years I've been the Treasurer of the MSCA so blame me for any money problems! I'm also a long term member of the Fiat Car Club and a member of CAMS Victorian Speed Events Advisory Panel. Occasionally you will have seen my X1/9 on the track - usually getting in the way of the faster cars. Recently I've been involved in developing the MSCA's new Web Site - more of this debacle later! BIG BIG BIG Changes in 2011: · The changes below have been caused by my predecessor's overwhelming generosity. Lindsay Coleman tried ever so hard to make everyone happy but in the process he nearly died from stress. The Committee has decided to get tough in certain areas so as to ensure we don't cause our volunteers to leave us. Without Volunteers, none of us can race our cars. · These are the BIG changes in 2011: · Late Entries will not be accepted. No exceptions and no excuses will be accepted. The Entry Forms will always stipulate the closing date for entries and this WILL NOT be extended. So - no more rocking up on the day and expecting to get a run. It won't happen. Apart from severe stress to our Volunteers, this is the main reason why we have late starts and queues at the check in counter. It also delays scrutineering. · Entries lodged before the closing date must contain payment. Entries without payment WILL NOT be accepted. · Due to our continuing inability to reconcile the "safety needs of our various "Clerks of Course" and the "speed desires of our Drivers/Passengers", we will not be running passenger sessions in 2011. · We hope to have a new Web Site up and running in a month or so. It will contain on line entry and payment. The existing site is not working as it was hacked by Russians - true! Don't try to use it because it may infect your computer. Leather Shoes. Under CAMS Speed Event Standing Regulations (see this link) http://www.camsmanual.com.au/pdf/03_speed/sp01_speedevents_standing_regs_q410.pdf footwear made from flammable synthetic material, such as nylon, is not acceptable. This means from Round 1 at Sandown Drivers must have leather shoes. If you want to buy a cheapish pair, then FOOT LOCKER have several sports shoes on sale from $65.00. KMART have a reasonable shoe for $35. Look around. Try and avoid shoes with padded synthetic linings. Karting shoes are cheaper than Racing gear and very suitable. 2011 Calendar: Ø Sunday February 20th Sandown Ø Sunday March 6th Haunted Hills - hill climb Ø Sunday April 10th Winton Ø Sunday May 22nd Phillip Island Ø Sunday July 3rd Sandown Ø Sunday August 21st Phillip Island Ø Sunday September 25th Winton Ø October Rest Month no Sprint Event Ø Sunday November 21st Phillip Island To be confirmed Ø Sunday December 4th Sandown To be confirmed (*) (*) This event is our first event in the 2012 season. It will not count for points in 2011. Regards Mark Rae
  12. I'm sure Craig (620Z) has them on the front of his zed; I've seen quite a few of those conversions before..
  13. Sounds like you are talking about the hole for the steel tube that is for crank case ventilation. PCV valve is located on the balance tube between the carbs. Is it a hole about 20ish mm in diameter under the thermostat housing? Take a pic if you can to make sure we are talking about the same thing..
  14. Best way I install the bush is with an old input shaft donated from an old gearbox; just place it on that and insert it into the crank. If you are local, you can use it if you want.
  15. You will need a receipt, and as long as it has its VIN number on the firewall and compliance plate and ID plate, it should be ok. Some early 240's never had a compliance plate fitted like mine but I've never had an issue at Vicroads. And bring lots of cash.
  16. Autobarn sell them for around $300 new..minus linkages etc.
  17. Just as bad as those "I am the Stig" stickers; as if someone with that driving skill will be putting around in a Micra....I'm sure..
  18. Welcome to the forums.... and I'm sure this forum will be a valuable tool that will help you.
  19. I know Repco sell these Narva 6 pin spade plug connectors; you can just chop off and replace it with your own plug. Unless you want it 100% original then disregard!
  20. Peter, I've edited your pic to show whats what and in the second pic, Ive taken a shot of my hazard switch (a tad fuzzy though) but you can tell the different type of plug compared to your loom..
  21. Happy birthday to you and those pesky little parasites!
  22. Usually just a master cylinder upgrade is all you need; I'm running a small 240Z booster with a 15/16 cylinder with Z32 calipers with no issues at all.
  23. I think that silver one belongs to Katz over on HybridZ.. Excellent restored example.
  24. My switch looks like the one in the top pic but the plug on mine is different. Its a larger one with 5 round pins rather than your smallish plug with thin spade type lugs. If it will help, you can take it.
  25. One of the of the plugs looks like its soaked in oil; like everyone else has said, might be time for a rebuild! For now you can try a hotter range plug to help burn of deposits but that is just a temp thing.
